Front seat frame broken. . Causing seat to move from track mounting that is bolted to floor causing driver to be able to lose control of vehicle and in cause of accident causing serious injury and or death.
The welds on the driver's seat have broken causing you to move upon turning the Jeep or rocking back and forth, I've had an 01 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the same issues.
Front driver seat mounting bracket/track break complaint: vehicle was stationary and in parked in a parking lot of my work. I was just getting into the vehicle when the front left driver seat bracket broke causing the seat to immediately start rocking side to side and towards the back. Upon inspection the bracket itself failed at a designed bend in the bracket just before the bracket attaches to the seat power sliding bracket. Material appears to be made of 1/8" metal problem: after time the bracket holding the driver/passenger side front seats to the frame of the vehicle begins to crack and break leaving the seat to rock and move as the vehicle is driven. This will lead to the seat possibly becoming disconnected from the vehicle frame in the event of a crash. File labeled: left brkt-driver seat - broken - is of the broken bracket. This part is on driver side towards the door. File labeled: right brkt-driver seat - nrml - is of the opposite bracket. This part is on driver side towards the passenger seat.
I have a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I came to a stop yesterday and the seat shifted forward and now rocks. I looked under it and the seat bracket broke. I looked into it on internet and it seems to be a very common problem with this vehicle. I contacted Chrysler but they were very unhelpful.
Driver's seat bracket (track) has an upside down " l" shaped metal bracket or support from the track to the seat which broke in two at the bend of the l. Happened while city street driving.
The front right side bracket under the drivers seat broke/snapped in half turning my drivers seat into a rocking chair making it very unsafe to drive. Bracket snapped while I was driving. Seat just dropped two inches to the right while driving. Now, I am concerned about a collision and then the seat just flying off turning me into a crash test dummy. This is not the first time this has happened on this vehicle. This same exact thing happened in 2013 so I went to a junk yard and purchased a replacement seat and had the entire seat replaced. Now, three years later I have to go thru the same process and hope the junkyard can get me another seat. This is a joke really that this issue has not caused a recall on the 2004 Jeep. After reading the forums on the web, something should be done about it. Someone is going to get into an accident, the seat is going to fail and Chrysler is going to get sued, big-time.
Bracket on driver seat, bracket at left front corner of seat broke. . . . Have heard of several complaints about this same thing happening with other Jeep owners. . . . Dealer repairs range from 400. 00 to 900. 00. . . .
Driver side electric adjustable seat bracket broke, making the seat wobble and rock from side to side and back and forth. It appears that this is adding stress to the other connecting points on the bracket and will eventually render the seat inoperable. The broken seat bracket is a hazard to safe driving.
The drivers seat bracket holding chair has broken from regular use. While parked, I leaned back in my seat and a bracket on the front left that connects to the frame holding chair to the floor broke. This has caused the seat to become more of a rocking chair, wobbling back and forth. To my surprise a defect such as this does not warrant a recall. I wish Chrysler addresses this problems that seems to be common among some of the Jeep Grand Cherokee. If the drivers seat breaks loose from the floor during an impact or rollover, the driver could easily be thrown from the vehicle while still strapped in his/her seat. The problem seems to get worse making the car unsafe to drive.
Driving with 12 year old daughter in car. Making turn onto highway and driver's seat lurched backwards with loud "pop" sound. Almost lost control of car and scared the daylights out of my daughter. Pulled over and seat is loose of frame. There is a crack in the steel bracket where seat attaches to seat frame. I went online and saw this is a common defect in Jeep Grand Cherokees. Kind of ridiculous that this problem hasn't already been corrected. I have never owned or even heard of a car where it is common for the seat to break from its frame.
The driver seat in my vehicle had started to become loose and further inspection showed a broken seat bracket. . Read more...
I was getting into the vehicle and the seat frame broke dislodging the seat on the driver's side.
Front driver seat track broke and car is a hazard to drive. Dealer says it cost $1200 to repair.
While driving my seat suddenly moved forward and to the right. What I found was that the seat bracket broke causing the seat to move. After looking on the internet I found that this is a common problem on this make and model of vehicle. This is a saftey issue as it affects your driving position and in my case broke while I was driving. In addition, as you go around corners you now move/slide in the seat as it is no longer level.
The main metal frame of the driver's seat has broken. Drivers seat has a rocking motion and will most likely not hold up to a rear end collision at any speeds.
Driver side seat broke off at frame. This has happened twice. There does not seem to be a solution by Jeep to repair this problem. There are no parts either new or used available to make repairs. Was told by the dealer that this is a common problem.
Driver's seat frame broke. Garage welded it, but it broke again at 102,000 miles. Seat frames should never break! only vehicle I ever owned to have had this problem. Checked on line, apparently others have had this problem as well.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that while making a right turn, he heard a loud popping noise and could feel the seat moving. The dealer looked at the vehicle and stated that the mounting bracket for the seat was broken. The dealer stated this had been a problem in the past. The current and failure mileages were 182000.
Front drivers side seat broke of rail and frame.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee e front driver's seat broken changed it once with the dealership but it broke again from reading online comments from other Jeep owners this is an on going problem with the frame or seat bracket since I changed the frame it broke within 6 months of repairing it average cost for new seat frame is about 600 dollars at dealership and it's not fair to have Jeep owners pay over and over again to fix a problem with their Jeep when it's Jeeps fault.
Drivers seat rocks broken brackets that hold the seat to the car. I have seen thousands of failures of these brackets reported on line. The fix is a new $1000 seat which often gets overlooked and people are welding (that's what we plan to do) a bracket which may create additional safety issues.
Front seat support breaks.
I have a 2004 Grand Cherokee laredo. Today while getting into my Jeep, my drivers seat frame broke. Loose in the front left corner. Now my driver seat rocks when I apply the brake or give gas. Wow, thank the lord I was not driving when this happened. I have contacted Chrysler about this to see if they will assist with repair even though I have 70,000 miles of use. After doing some research, it appears this is a known issue yet no recalls are performed. It's going to cost me roughly $700. 00 to get this fixed. Below is a link I found with a lot of complaints around this issue. . Read more...
Information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 552(b)(6) my driver seat track broke for my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee on the right side next to the driver side door. It snapped in half and while researching on the web I found a website that everyone else is voicing there concern. My seat is swaying side to side and when I am driving my seat leans back far. When calling the dealership they said that this is not a known issue and that it will cost me between 600-800 to fix. This is upsetting when I can weld it together, but when I get in a accident will that hold? it is a terrible product and the metal should have been stronger and thicker. . Read more...
2004 Jeep cherokee driver side seat frame broke again after dealer so called repair.
Front driver side seat has broke at 3 separate parts required welding to repair.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee laredo -- front seat bracket/rail broken/snapped off--this created a safety situation with seat not secure--raises questions as to what would have happened if in accident and seat broke loose.
2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee, drivers seat broke a weld. I was driving about a year ago and the weld just broke. I haven't had a chance to get it fixed because I can't find a used replacement and dealership wants over $800 to fix. I have checked online and have found almost 2000 people with similar problems all stating the same thing, Jeep doesn't have a recall for this and they can't find a replacement seat used or new for that matter and Jeep dealer wants over $500 to fix the problem. I have also read that the people that have had the seat fixed or replaced the issue just happens again. I feel this is a safety issue as it broke while I was driving the vehicle which thank god did not cause a accident to happen only because I was not on a busy road and was able to recover from the initial shock of the seat breaking. I checked under the seat was able to see the metal broke right at the weld.
Drivers seat brakes at bottom and then seat frame brakes. It is now like you are driving in a rocking chair. Jeep knows about this problem, some seats have broken away. This is a very unsafe condition.
Driver's side seat bracket broken on my 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. After researching on the internet, it seems that it is a common problem with Grand Cherokees. There is a steel tube that goes from side to side that is entirely too thin and it shears off at the bracket. It was not involved in any accident, it just breaks from normal use, which for a seat bracket, should not happen. I fixed it once last summer and now another part is broken. The seat is now basically a rocking chair and if I were to get in a crash, there is no doubt in my mind that the bracket would fail further and possibly cause serious injury.
The contact owns a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. The contact stated that the platform frame of the driver's seat broke three times. While driving approximately 25 mph, the seat began to shake which alerted him to the failure. The first two times, he welded the seat together, and the third time, he scheduled an appointment for 02/26/2010 with the dealer. He called the manufacturer, filed a complaint with a representative, and was instructed to take the vehicle to a dealer. The vehicle had not been repaired at the time of the complaint. The current mileage was approximately 67,750. The failure mileage was approximately 39,000. Updated 03/26/10. The consumer stated when the seat broke, it caused it to shift and it became unstable. Chrysler refused to pay for the repairs because they stated the seat failed due to the weld. The consumer stated the seat cracked before it was welded. Updated 04/16/10. Updated 04/28/10. Updated 09/13/10.
The driver side electric seat frame broke in 2006 and I was told I could buy a new one but they are so cheaply made I had it repaired by a experienced welder who told me the metal was really thin and cheaply made. It broke again in 2008 in a different location on the same seat and I had it repaired. Then it broke again in another location on same seat in 2009. Now to start off Jan. 2012 it broke in 2 places of the seat frame and I don"t know what to do. It is a very dangerous seat and I looked on line for a few moments and found thousands of complaints on the same seat from 2004 and down a few years. If something is not done about this someone could be hurt or killed.
Driver seat pivot which connects the seat track to the upper seat frame breaks / cracks under normal drive conditions. I had to replace my seat track 3 times with the first crack being welded and cracking again. The vehicle has 159,000 miles and I am the original owner.
