Tl-the contact owns a 2008 Jeep Liberty. The contact stated that tpms valves had fractured from the drivers front and rear tires causing the pressure to go low suddenly. The vehicle was inspected by a dealer and they advised him that he needed to replace the valves and that they were aware of the failure. The vehicle was repaired for the valves on the front driver and rear tires. The manufacturer was contacted and they offered no assistance. The failure mileage was approximately 26,000. Tb.
1. Poor material selection for tire pressure sensor valve stem. Stems are made of aluminum and with road salt they corrode and crack when pressure gauges or air hoses are connected. 2. Spare tire sensor always reports low pressure no matter pressure or which tire is mounted on spare tire holder.

Purchased new 2005 Jeep Liberty renegade in June 2005 almost immediately the tire pressure sensor light flashed for weeks then went on solid. Asked dealer to check, they added air and it went out. Almost immediately after I left the dealer the same situation occured. I added air it went out and then it repeated. Eventually the light is always illuminated. Five years later I just drive with the sensor light illuminated since noone (dealer/priviate garage/tire store) and nothing (add air/new tires/new sensors ($120 each) fixed the problem.
2008 Jeep Liberty. Consumer states tire pressure monitor system is not working correctly. The consumer stated the tire valves failed twice. The first valve was replaced reluctantly and he was told that the second valve would not be replaced under warranty because it was cracked. The consumer stated he was unable to inflate the tire.

2005 Jeep Liberty renegade with tire air pressure sensors have failed repeatedly as temperatures drop below 35 degrees outside, causing unanticipated and significant drops in tire air pressure. This equipment has been serviced by an authorized Jeep service center (dealer from which vehicle was purchased) on five (4) occasions in the past twelve (12) months, 2 of the sensors have been replaced (dealer will only replace each sensor as they cease) and I am on my way to having the 3rd replaced this week.

The dealer checked the tire pressure and stated that it was normal. While driving 69 mph, the rear end of the vehicle dropped and the contact lost control. The ridges in the road eventually caused the vehicle to stop. The road conditions were normal. The rear passenger side tire blew out, but the tire pressure light did not illuminate. The consumer stated it did blink for a few seconds. The tire was replaced with a spare. Aaa stated that the tire failed due to low tire pressure. Traveling interstate 94, approximately 70 mph, unavoidable tire debris on roadway. My vehicle front passenger wheel struck rubber truck tire casing which just blew off truck. The valve stem of my tire broke off instantly deflating the tire. The valve stem is part of the siemens bdo tire pressure monitor system installed on daimler Chrysler vehicles and my Jeep Liberty. The stem broke at the stem cap thread. My dealership has reported many failures to daimler Chrysler there is no recall or replacement which fixes the fault. The assembly material is some aluminum alloy and will readily snap off if pressure is applied laterally at the tip of the valve stem even the brushes at the car wash break these valve stems.
Purchased 2005 Jeep Liberty 9/29/05. The tire pressure sensor light was on immediately. Took vehicle back to dealership and complained that the vehicle pulls badly to the right, especially at 65+ mph. The dealership fixed the tire pressure sensor, but told me the pulling to the right must be due to road conditions. After reading other customer complaints, I doubt it. When driving at highway speeds it is difficult to maintain in lane. If large tractor-trailer trucks pass this will create even more intense struggle to keep vehicle on the road. Safety concerns regarding winter snow conditions are a deciding factor on keeping the vehicle.
