Tl- the contact owns a 2011 kia Soul. The contact stated that while driving at any speed, the break lights went out, the air bag light stayed on and off. The ecm light illuminated and the head lights went out. The contact stated that these failures started after a recall repair of the "stop lamp switch and the under body corrosion". On several occasions, the brake pedal was depressed and traveled to the floorboard. The contact stated that the brakes operated intermittently. As I was driving north on I-95 it had started to rain. I was in the left lane of a two lane highway going 60 mph in a 70 mph zone when an 18 wheeler went by me going 85 mph or more. It pushed water on the road over into my lane and I felt my wheels begin to move. I let off the gas and gripped the wheel. My esc light never turned on. I hydroplaned from my lane into the right lane then back into my lane and off the road. The wheels locked about 20 feet off the road and the car tipped on the passenger side and hit a tree. I had my seatbelt on as I sat and dialed 911. My windshield was spiderwebbed, my hood of the car was up, and all my belongings were thrown on the right side of the car. I was wearing my prescription glasses and a headband and with the force of the hit, both were thrown off my face. As I sat in the car on the phone with 911 the car began to catch fire. I unbuckled my seatbelt and got out the door behind the driver. When I got out I realized not one air bag in my vehicle went off. Not even the side ones on the passenger side.

The vehicle stibility control light comes on when it want , which is the part of the (abs). The vehicle has been several times to resolve the problem with no luck. The light will go off when you turn off the vehicle. I do also hear a clicking noise from th driver side rear brake for couple of feet but went away. No codes present at all a cording to the dealership when they checked. Doe to the photos which my wife and I have taken during the problem the dealership decided to check the auto. The wife and I have waited several hrs. At the dealership, but still no luck for the light or the clicking sound to come on. The wife and I are very unsatisfied with the results at this time. It seems like (replace the abs) control model should eliminate the problrm.

I was driving 35 mph on hwy us1, car in front of me rear ended the car in front of it. I placed foot on brake and didnt seem to be slowing quick enough. I then placed both feet on brake to stop and still hit the car involved in accident.
The stop lamp switch did not function properly, despite this exact part being recalled back in 2013. The stop lamps are not illuminated when brakes are engaged.
The contact owns a 2014 kia Soul. While driving between 15-25 mph, the brake pedal was depressed but failed to stop the vehicle. The contact stated that the brake pedal was very difficult to depress and required extreme pressure. The contact stated that the vehicle also accelerated independently. The vehicle was taken to the dealer to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to duplicate the failure. The failure was intermittent. The vehicle was not repaired. Car would not brake as it pulled into a parking spot. Ended up stopping in a storefront. No significant visible damage. No airbags deployed. All three passengers (incl one 3 yr old) were completely unscathed.
I parked my car at the top of my friend's very steep driveway. I never park down it because with the electronic accelerator, I almost got stuck once not being able to give the vehicle a sufficient amount of gas to accelerate up the steep grade. I normally park off the road at the top, but decided to park facing out from the driveway. Even at the top, there is a grade, but it is not ridiculous. I parked in 1st gear (manual) and put the e-brake on. My friend and I were in her walk-out basement for about 10 minutes when we heard what sounded like a door slamming shut. We went to the door and saw my car had rolled down the 200' driveway and in to her deck. The basement door is under the deck. The car was holding the deck up and the deck was keeping the car from continuing over a retaining wall and down a 30' drop. We called 911 because of the structural damage, the car and deck still making noise, not knowing how long it would hold, as well as us being trapped in the basement until it was secured. Once the fire department had the wheels chocked they opened the driver side door to make sure the e-brake was on. They verified that it was, in fact, engaged. This was all put in the police report. There is over $7k damage to the car and $4k to the deck. Kia inspected today and didn't find any deficiency in the e-brake. I had the sinking suspicion that nothing would be found. It may have been a mixture of events that caused the failure, but it still happened and was still a a mechanical issue that no one-year old car should have.
Low/soft brake pedal, the brake pedal goes almost to the floor before brakes engage. This car was purchased new but the brake pedal has a great amount of "travel" in it before the brakes stop the car. Dealer refuses to acknowledge there is a problem with the brakes or to make repairs.
I was driving in traffic with my son in the car. When I went to brake with the clutch depressed, the car would not stop for a handful of seconds until if finally stopped just in back of but not touching a BMW in front of us. We both heard a scraping/pulsing sound coming from the brakes as the pedal was fully depressed but the car was still going forward. Had the car not stopped just short of the car ahead I fear me and my son would have been seriously injured. I saw a similar complaint on carcomplaints. Com which indicated this was also a NHTSA complaint. This car has similar mileage (12800) and was a 2013 kia Soul.

Animal ran in front of vehicle, we were forced to slam on the brakes, car did not stop. Head on collision into the tree(s). The car stopped dead center in the large tree I hit, causing my body (passenger) to go between the lap belt and shoulder belt. My body smacked the dash and head slammed into the windshield. Airbags did not deploy. Vehicle is a total loss. Updated 07/01/14 . . Updated 08/12/14.
I bought a kia Soul 2013 used with 12,400 miles on it Saturday may 31, 2014. Wednesday June 4, 2014 I was tapping on my brakes to stop for a light when I heard a clicking sound not very loud but a click. The kia Soul did not stop. I pressed on the brakes a little harder my car did not stop for another foot or two. Thank god there was not another car in front of me or I would have hit the other car for certian. I am scared to drive my car. The kia Soul is also pulling to the right I took the car in Tuesday June 3, 2014 had the check out was told the alingment was good the reason for pulling was because each tire had different pressure, was told that all tires were the now the same pressure. Driving the car to work today the kia Soul again started pulling to the right. I am also having a problem finding out to register that I bought a used kia Soul 2013 that still is under manufactory warrianty. I did not but the kia Soul from a kia dealership.
When braking, there is fading pedal feel whereby braking grip is not linear with pedal pressure.
We were traveling down a rural road in kentucky. A deer ran out in front of us. We struck the deer at approximately 57 mph. There was considerable damage to the front end of the vehicle and it was not drivable. Our airbags did not deploy.

At stop light, brake pedal went to floor and vehicle started to move forward into intersection. Thankfully no vehicles were at that intersection at that time! after five or fewer seconds the brakes caught and I was able to stop the vehicle.
Windshield wipers too slow on fastest speed. Old car had faster wipers. Seat belts hard to click and unclick, very awkward access to seatbelt buckle. Brakes: user force too hard, very fatiguing. When engine starts initial idle speed control not smooth goes up and down yet computer does not log an error. This is more than 50 rpm. American car would probably log error if car did that. Causes car to lurch unexpectedly when pulling out of driveway.
The car went in for it's first yearly inspection and the kia dealer said the back rotors were rusty and wanted to charge 110 dollars to clean them. They eventually cleaned them under the warranty. The back rotors were rusty because the back brakes never worked since it was new. Now since the back brakes never worked the front and back brakes need replaced at 26,000 miles and kia won't assume any of the cost as they are saying that is normal. The car has been very unsafe to drive since it was new without back brakes and the dealership should have noticed that during the first inspection.
I was slowing approaching parking spot. Vehicle started speeding rapidly, I could not stop vehicle and crashed into a brick building. My son was yelling to stop, I said I am trying and cannot. The air bags came out, car was smoking, badly dented. Windshield broke. We were bruised and scratched. There was over $9500 worth of damage. The vehicle malfunctioned and sped out of control.
Brand new car purchased 04/06/13 and has 2900 miles and brakes squeak. Brakes have been squeaking since may but unable to leave it due to long periods of waiting for car. Was told by service manager that brakes are glazed and its common and happens and they will deglaze but it will keep happening because its just the brakes. I have owned and driven many cars and never had this problem prior to this vehicle and the van I have that is also manufactured by the same parent company and had the same problems. I was told that it glazed because my van was heavy but this new car is very small and light. A customer in the waiting area said he has never heard of glazing and worked on cars for 30 years. I believe that these cars made from Hyundai/kia are made with cheap parts that have to be replaced often and thats how the make up for cheaply sold cars. I need help figuring out how to fix this problem.
During braking and hitting small hole in road I noticed the brakes skipping and brake pedal jumping up and down as if it was a power defect. I had the same effect happen after bad rain and approaching a red light the car skipped to the stop. When it snowed out the brakes really skipped made noise and seemed to slip and would not stop. I figured the car was new or the brakes are adjusting kind to speed but now know there is something wrong. March is the first whole month I own the car and this is time to call the dealer and get this figured out. There was witness in the car on 2 of 3 occasions.
Second incident of brake (dealer says emergency brake) causing vehicle vibration. This exiting parking lot. On hard surface at highway speeds experience vibration which ramps up in frequency then ramps down. Have replaced emergency brake shoe. Dealer says brake pad was delaminating and piece of shoe was probably causing vibration by involving other parts during wheel revolution. Notice parking brake lever seems to exceed top range and slip slightly to left. After first repair noticed loud knocking/rattle from right rear quadrant, verified by passenger. Discovered application of normal brake while moving at slow speed stopped most of rattle/knocking; this 2 days ago, then today's incident began again.
