Driving home night 9/4/19, noticed headlights have partial obstruction with shadow on horizon making it difficult to recognize any objects in the shadow area. If you turn the car or take a bend in the road or drive down or up hill the distraction becomes a very bad problem as the shadow changes in size or moves. . . Mostly on low beams but is also on high beams but not as noticeable. . . . Live and drive in the ne georgia mountains, hazard in daytime and more at night. . Called kia next am, car seen dealership 9/9/2019. . Adjusted headlights. . . 9/13/2019 drove night again, no change. . . Called dealership and took in 9/18/2019 before service was told this is a problem with the 2019 kia Sportage and other kia SUV's. . Nothing they can do. . . It is a problem that has been reported to them by other kia Sportage owners and it is a design flaw so was told by service manager at lifetime kis. . . 4170 us highway 64w, murphy, nc 28906. . 828-835-9200. . . . I wanted to know why when I purchased the auto was not informed of this major problem. . Considered a major safety hazard. . No satisfactory answer was given. . . I felt like all they wanted to do was sell a car and I was willing to purchase another but would lose 10k in just a few months. . Headlights and navigation system flicker and go out while driving at night. Lights went out while driving down the interstate. Came back on after about 20 seconds and continued to flicker. Afls appeared on the display, the owners manual said to turn off the car and restart it, this turned off the afls light but the lights and navigation system continue to flicker occasionally. Scared to drive at night.

When purchased in may, 2017, the headlights had to be adjusted as they were aimed too high. The adjustment made the lights too low and with a very short "cut-off" point. It is almost impossible to see the roadway in front of the vehicle at night.

I believe this topic has never been addressed and this issue has caused many accidents in the past because of visibility. This is in reference to all vehicles with plastic headlight covers. They become very cloudy and diminish the brightness to the point where visibility is greatly impaired. In the past they were made of glass and were always bright and clear. I believe they should be bright and clear for the life of the car. There are after market cleaners and polishes that don't really work. They need to be made of glass or plastic that doesn't get cloudy.

At approximately 5:30am, I was driving down the freeway. My kia Sportage suddenly made a loud bang, and the engine stalled. It also shut off the headlights, and disabled the power steering, while on a curve, going 70mph. The power assisted brakes were also not working, because the engine shut down. I managed to pull the vehicle over without incident, but was almost hit by several vehicles that could no longer see me, because my lights were off. The engine would not start up again, and I had to have the vehicle towed home. This is the 3rd time this vehicle has done this, and kia refuses to repair the vehicle.

Both of my headlights stopped working during a heavy rain and at night but the parking lights were still working. We assumed it was because the light bulbs needed changed. When we changed the bulbs, the headlight plug on the driver side was melted from a possible short in the wiring and corroded, the passenger side is dry rotted. We changed the bulbs thinking that was the only problem, but nothing was wrong with the bulbs we took out. The passenger light never fully works, it always has a dim ready to go out look. Then on June 10 the headlights stopped working again during a rainstorm. Today is June 24 and the headlights are still not working and the headlight bulb is still good. It must be the wiring. We took the bulb out again today the bulb is still good, we plugged them back into the socket. They are temporarily working. However this is what happened before.

The headlights of the vehicle have stress cracks that will allow moisture to enter the assembly. This moisture will cause the bulb inside the assembly to fail. I have asked for assistance from the rountree moore kia, as well as kia of north America to address this problem. I have been told by both that there is no action they will take to correct this issue.

Headlights randomly short out. A few months after I got the car. I brought the car back to dealership 3 times before the headlights would stay on. Things were ok for a while but on 02/06/04 headlights shorted out again. 02/07/04 headlights were back on. 02/09/04 headlights out. Brought car in to be serviced, and car was fixed. 02/12/04 headlights out again. Brought car to dealership 02/13/04. On 02/14/04 car was fixed. Headlights stay on. Very happy. . . At least for a week. 02/21/04 headlights out. Am afraid of car.

Noticed after washing car that right head lamp clear cover was fractured on the inside. Dealer replaced cover. Second time was 12/27/01, noticed while travling in front of kia driven by wife while I was in another vehicle that the right head lamp beam was much higher than the right. Was blinding so I had dealer adjust beam.

Condensation in left headlight- they cleaned out vent hole- same problem on1/1/98 , however light was replaced then.
