It is been happening more frequently, the gas pedal sticks and cannot be pressed down. Occured several times including some times when I was driving. I have seen several complaints for the same issue. I'm worry about this, it could cause an accident. Something has to be done!!.

The first time I had an issue with the gas pedal, I was backing out of a driveway and the pedal got stuck all the way down. My car wouldn't move. Since then, I've had 5 instances where I'm driving my car and let up on the gas pedal and it gets stuck. I have to stomp on the pedal multiple times for it to start working again. I'm always in traffic and have to turn on my hazard lights and pull off to the side if there is a shoulder available. This has also happened when merging onto the interstate when traffic is moving over 50 mph. This is very dangerous and I'm upset to find that many other owners have had this issue and we have to pay to get this fixed. It should be a recall.
I was yielding and went to accelerate to merge into traffic and the pedal got stuck I had to slam on brakes to get the car to slow down, when it didn't I started pumping the gas pedal and it came unstuck. Recently it has been sticking alot, when I first try to accelerate I push the pedal and it appears their is some sort of catch there I have to slam it down to get pedal to work often. . I come to a stop and when I go to push the pedal it feels hard to push. . I googled the problem and saw tons of recalls on this but when I called and gave them the VIN number they said it wasn't included. I had it washed today and when the guy washing it brought it back he mentioned to me that the gas pedal kept sticking. . He said I needed to have it checked out. I probably should have sooner but I never drove it. . . The first time it happened I thought that I just hit the pedal the wrong way but it has stuck over 10 times since then.
For the past year, the vehicle's accelerator/gas pedal has at times felt "stuck" so that the driver must press down harder than normal to accelerate. Originally the driver was under the impression that the mat was obstructing the gas pedal's ability to be depressed. Over time however, the vehicle has shown an increased difficulty in the gas pedal being depressed. Most recently, on January 23, 2014, the vehicle was idling while in traffic. When the driver attempted to press down on the accelerator, the gas pedal did not move. The driver was forced to press hard on the accelerator, and when doing so, the accelerator became "stuck" and quickly jolted the vehicle forward. The driver had to immediately press down on the brake to avoid collision with the vehicle in front. The speed at the time was less than 15 miles per hour and the driver was able to come to a stop avoiding collision. Since the incident on January 23, the vehicle's gas pedal has increasingly shown more "sticking" and has become very hard to accelerate without applying a great amount of pressure down on the pedal. This causes concern as the vehicle quickly accelerates in a jump-like manner rather than slowly accelerating to a comfortable driving speed. The 2006 Mazda Tribute is a 4 cylinder and the manufacturer has not issued a recall at this time.
While attempting to accelerate, the gas pedal will get stuck in the upward position not allowing the car to accelerate. It has happened periodically throughout the duration of ownership, but has become more prominently in the recent year or so. The vehicle currently has approximately 107k miles but has occurred at much lower mileage. There has been no recall posted, but many others have shared concern. This is a huge safety risk especially when merging onto highways or accelerating in traffic.
Accelerator sticks and will not allow you to press the gas pedal. This happened in traffic and had to idle off to the side of the road.
The accelerator pedal sticks.

Accelerator pedal gets stuck in partial acceleration position during acceleration and will not press down further past partial to full acceleration during cold mornings to accelerate faster (less than 35 degrees farenheit). Pedal typically works fine after vehicle warms up. Releasing pressure from pedal usually allows pedal to return to rest/nominal position for next attempt to press down to accelerate. Sometimes it is stuck again sometimes it works.

From a stop switching to gas pedal or accelerator the pedal sticks and hard to press and does it back to back for a few minutes. Also it can do it at random after driving for awhile and stop at a light it will stick when trying to go. Once it stops sticking I have to quickly hit the brakes to not cause over acceleration.
My gas pedal sticks when my vehicle gets cold. I purchased this vehicle about a year ago used and when the temperature dropped the gas pedal would stick. I would be in traffic and the vehicle would go nowhere when pressing the gas pedal. This has occurred many times. They said there is a recall on the 2006 but 6 cy, I have a 4 cy that the same problem is occurring. I would like to have this vehicle included in the recall as well, because apparently it is happening to the 4 cy as well.
I own a 2006 Mazda Tribute 4 cylinder. When the weather changes and it gets to be about 40 degrees or lower my gas pedal sticks! I am unable to press the pedal down. This is very scary and I believe it can cause an accident especially when you are at a traffic light you are not sure if the gas pedal gonna work. Then when you press the gas after many times of trying and it finally works you accelerate to much and can hit the car in front of you. Please check into this matter as I feel it is very important and can become a liability to Mazda.
I purchased my Mazda Tribute new in 2007. This problem started in 2010 in the winter. From time to time, the gas pedal would stick in the upright position, usually when accelerating from a full stop, but sometimes driving in traffic. The past few weeks, my son has been driving the car and has noticed the sticking pedal situation also. I had asked the dealership previously to check this out, but they said they could not get the pedal to stick when they drove it. I am taking it back in tomorrow and leaving it so they can test it after it is cold for a while. This is very dangerous. I have had problems when stopped to make a left turn, and then trying to accelerate to make the turn. So far I have been lucky, but left turns after a full stop are scary to say the least.
My gas pedal keeps sticking on occasion when in idle or slow driving. I need to press the gas pedal harder to get it from being stuck and then my vehicle lunges forward. Called for a service appointment.
The contact owns a 2005 Mazda Tribute 1. The contact stated that while accelerating slowly, the accelerator pedal became stuck to the floorboard. The contact had to apply the brake and depress the accelerator pedal simultaneously in order for the pedal to release. The vehicle was not taken to the dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The failure and the current mileage was 69,000.
Gas pedal sticks. Can't be pressed down.
2008 Mazda Tribute, approx, 72,000 miles. The gas pedal sticks in cold weather. We live in the baton rouge area so it doesn't get cold often, but the last few day's we've had lows in the 20's and the gas pedal has a sticking issue. It's hard to press and when it finally does the vehicle lunges forward. We had this same issue last year when it also got abnormally cold for this area.
The gas pedal sticks on a daily basis.
2006 Mazda Tribute gas pedal sticks in cold weather to the point where the car will no go anywhere. I always warm my car up however, nothing prevents this from happening and I am worried that if I stop in traffic and start I will be in a major accident.
My 2008 Mazda Tribute has about 68,500 miles. The gas pedal stuck, at intervals, all through my drive back home from my parents. It is about a 25 mile drive on the highway. The pedal became stuck once I depressed it. In order to accelerate, I had to press on the pedal with abnormal force. The car would jerk forward once the pedal became unstuck and I was able to accelerate again. This is not the first time that my 2008 Mazda Tribute does this. It did a while back when my car had about 30,000 miles. It did it two times. However, it never did it again until today, 11-14-2010. This time, however, the pedal got stuck well over 10 times. The car would decelerate while I used more and more force on the gas pedal until the pedal gave and I was able to accelerate again. I had my wife and children in the car. I did not feel safe driving the SUV. Doing research on the net and on the NHTSA this seems to be a problem which is happening to an abnormal number of 2008 Mazda Tributes throughout the USA. Why hasn't Mazda done a recall? why hasn't the NHTSA ordered a recall? this is very dangerous!.
The gas pedal is sticking, not allowing you to accelerate. My wife and I purchased this car so that our son would be safe. It has happened at stop signs and on the highway going 65-70mph. It happened around ten separate occasions, mostly in the morning. I would hate for my family to be in the car when something were to happen. We want to fix the problem but this seems to be a chronic issue with the Mazda Tribute. We love our car. Can you please help?.
The contact owns a 2008 Mazda Tribute. The contact stated that the accelerator pedal was stuck and would not depress when the contact attempted to accelerate from a stop. After applying heavy pressure to the pedal, the vehicle began to accelerate. The failure occurred intermittently during cold weather. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer where the contact was told this was a known failure and the throttle body assembly needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The failure mileage was 28,000 and the current mileage was 33,000.
