Took car to dealership for recall service on driver airbag module, after driving away once job was finished noticed I was unable to turn steering wheel and the steering wanted to lock while driving. Srs light remained on. Smoke came out from under the hood and car was not overhearing, I called dealership and service advisor was gone and was not offered any additional help. I drove car slowly to my home and parked it on the street because I was unable to drive to the driveway. I opened hood and smoke was coming from power steering reservoir and also leaking fluid. I did not have any issues driving my vehicle prior to this recall service. I was put endanger along with my 2 kids and now having to fix other costly repairs and have no additional vehicle to drive. I received a recall on the airbag and electrical system.
I was driving on the I-95 at 60 mph and turned on my air conditioner when smoke began to come out of the vents. I shut off the air conditioner and the smoke stopped. I visited with my parents and as I started the car and it was idling, I turned on the air conditioner and smoke began to come from the vents again and flames appeared under the dashboard. I was able to put out the fire and pulled the fuse box cover off and found the fuse box was where the fire had started. There was a paper with fuse sizes and locations put (by mercedes) in between the fuses which had been singed, and part of the fuse box and some of the fuses had melted. I did an internet search and found a complaint on a mercedes forum where this had happened to another 2004 mercedes C230.

Transmission went out at 100,ooo miles car went out without warning going at a rate of 40 miles per hour on a buisy highway motorist stranded with a walking disability, esp light came on when trying to put car in drive would not had to be towed now at mercedes dealership north palm beach , dealer ship advised would cost 12,ooo. Oo to repair recall was too late to file deadline 2-15-16.
I bought the C230 at one year old. I had e perienced two times thatwhile freeway driving all power would be lost. Pulled over and put in park, rev engine a bit but rpm's would not move. Fast forward to December 2008 I sold car go my mom because I had a baby and car was too small. My mom since having car has lost power while freeway driving a total of six times now. Very dangerous as there is no "code" or "error" for mechanic when diagnosing, nor is benz ackowleding ghe issue.

Balance shaft is bad mercedes wants $5833 to fix it now they have a class action lawsuit against them for that they should have to pay the whole amount to fix it as I looked for recall I found the problem for my gas tank that should have been recalled to if you fill the car up you can smell gas need help to fix this.
I've had this problem several times where I put in the car key to start the car, yes it starts up but the gas guage ,speedometer, and the rest on the dash go to all the way down and don't move, then my check engine light turns on. Sometimes the car doesn't start as well . I've gone to the dealership to buy a new key thinking it was the key but still the same problem. I saw that most of the c class has been recalled for the same issues I'm having but they didn't recall the C230. I believe you guys should do better investigation next time because I dont think I should have to pay to repair something that came defective. Also I've noticed that the 2006 c class also has a recall for the airbag wich I've has the esn or esp letters popping up on NY dashboard stateting something about the airbag yet my vehicle isn't eligible for that recall as well and I ask myself why? if they same problems I'm having are exactly the same I'm having with the recalled vehicle.

I have a 2004 Mercedes Benz C230. The alarm sounds continuously while driving down the road. When this happens, the key will not disable it. The dealership says there is not a problem with mercedes but I seem to find lots of complaints on internet blogs regarding other customers having the same problem. What is our right as a consumer? should there be a recall to get this corrected?.
First, my steering wheel wire was replaced from a faulty srs light coming on and the esp light coming on. I had to pay for all of this. Next, euromotor cars said the steering wheel collar was broke. I have never had that fixed because they wanted to charge me and I felt they should replace the collar since they replaced the steering wire. Now my car does not start and the instrument cluster does not light up. I cannot unlock the doors with the remote key and I cannot unlock the trunk of the car. My car just sits because I feel I should not have to pay for any of this any more. I have put $6,800 in repairs in this car. I do not want to pay for another vehicle. I feel my car is unsafe. My car was first serviced at herb gordon's auto group in silver spring, maryland. I was not happy with the service so I decided to try euromotors and the service was worse. They continue to put in codes so there will not be a recall and the consumer has to pay out of pocket. Please help in resolving some of the issues I have had with this 2005 C230 kompressor Mercedes Benz. I would also like for this car to be entered into the recall for the steering wire repair just as the e320. I purchased the car with 4,000 miles on it in 10/2005. Thank you.
Major problems drive train senors air bags.
Failure of the turn signals, wipers and power windows and the lock system the failure was caused by the eis system or the key system. This caused a safety hazard of which no control of above systems. The car was in the dealership 7 days to the tune of over $800. 00 .
One morning car started normal but rpms were hi while in park and ever since the car drove rough, stalling at lights, dying when acceleration was presses. Check engine light came on - obd reader code says mass flow air sensor failure. Replaced the sensor, problem fixed, at a cost of $500 for part!.

I've been unable to read my mileage for many years now. I have a 2000 C230. Took the car to the dealer and was told the cluster had to be replaced @ around $1000. 00. Found this to be unacceptable since the car at the time was only 5 years old. It's a shame Mercedes Benz doesn't recall this problem.
When using the cigarette lighter, the dashboard began to smoke without warning. No fire reported. Please provide additional information.
Consumer disappointed with her problematic, unreliable and potentially unsafe vehicle. The window seals scratched the glass tint. The radio reception was poor and the keyless entry system only worked at close range. The technician indicated that the tint was likely the cause of the poor reception and inability to use the entry system at further distances. The dealer installed scraper seals to alleviate the scratching. The vehicle shut off five times in a 45 min period and all the service lights illuminated. The vehicle was taken tot he dealer who determined that a cylinder had misfired and water was in the spark plugs. The dealer replaced he cylinder head and all valves. The bas, esp and abs light illuminated while driving. There was a lack of airflow power when the a/c was used. The vehicle hesitated when accelerating. There was a strong mildew odor coming through the vents. Cd skipped when turning corners. A rattling noise could be heard from the engine while the a/c was on.

The vehicle's exhaust system rattled, there were numerous electrical problems, the check engine light had come on intermittently and was reset because there was no problem found, there had been a possibility of problems with the seal on the fuel injection and air injection valves, the climate control unit was faulty, the heated driver side seat did not work properly, and the middle console did not close. Scc.
Engine light flashes on and off while driving. Rings on the transmission had to be replaced. Consumer was unable to identify the type of rings. The dealer did not honor the vehicle's warranty. The speakers would intermittently change the radio sound, center console did not open properly, volume did not work, there was a wind noise coming from behind the driver while in motion, driver's seat heater was extremely hot, blower motor was inoperative and the fan speed control switch illumination was inoperative at times.
