Mercedes Benz C230 owners have reported 13 problems related to engine exhaust system (under the engine and engine cooling category).
The engine light came on asking me to go to the next gas station and check oil. When I took to the next day to a mechanic and upon a thorough diagnostics, I was told that the balance shaft (in take camshaft code 1208) and exhaust camshaft, code 1200 need to be replaced due to premature wear and faulty parts.

Engine light illuminated: two diagnostics suggested two separate problems, worn out balance shaft and issues with the intake and exhaust camshaft. Car is sluggish on acceleration and occasionally will not shift out of first gear. Car must be pulled over and turned off, and then the computer resets. This is a periodic problem and is a particular hazardous problem entering high speed highways, which I must do on a daily basis.

The cam sensors on the mercedes m271 engine leak oil which spreads to other components via the wire harnesses connected to cam sensors. Oil contamination will damage other electrical components (namely the ecu and exhaust oxygen sensors) if the cam sensors and wire harnesses are not replaced. A new cam sensor and wire harness has been designed as the corrective action. The defective cam sensor and wire harness were used on the previous engine design (m111). There is a technical service bulletin for m111 engine but not the m271 engine. Mercedes refuses to recall this defective design on the m271 engine causing owners to pay for the $900 preventative maintenance. Without this repair the ecu (part cost $2000) and oxygen sensors (qty 2 @ $238 ea) will be eventually damaged and will need to be removed and replaced. Within the past week, paid more than $ 2,400. 00 to replace 2 cam sensors, 2 oxygen sensors, and wiring harness. Repair shop says that this is a defect that mb has known about for years.

My C230 2006 car has a engine noise and thats so loud. Please tell me about this noise . I think that is need to replace.
This is a 2004 mercedes C230. Check engine light went on. I went to dealer within 5 miles of warning light coming on. I was told that there was an oil leak and that it had dripped over several components and the wiring harness. I would cost $3,500 to repair but they absorbed the labor cost and it should cost about $2,000. I have never missed a maintenance on this car. They said the this happens because of where the O2 sensor that leaked is. It seems odd to have minor issue cause such enormous damage.

First, my steering wheel wire was replaced from a faulty srs light coming on and the esp light coming on. I had to pay for all of this. Next, euromotor cars said the steering wheel collar was broke. I have never had that fixed because they wanted to charge me and I felt they should replace the collar since they replaced the steering wire. Now my car does not start and the instrument cluster does not light up. I cannot unlock the doors with the remote key and I cannot unlock the trunk of the car. My car just sits because I feel I should not have to pay for any of this any more. I have put $6,800 in repairs in this car. I do not want to pay for another vehicle. I feel my car is unsafe. My car was first serviced at herb gordon's auto group in silver spring, maryland. I was not happy with the service so I decided to try euromotors and the service was worse. They continue to put in codes so there will not be a recall and the consumer has to pay out of pocket. Please help in resolving some of the issues I have had with this 2005 C230 kompressor Mercedes Benz. I would also like for this car to be entered into the recall for the steering wire repair just as the e320. I purchased the car with 4,000 miles on it in 10/2005. Thank you.

Musty smell in the air conditioner , and I have taken m the vehicle to dealer three times in boerne texas. They have temporarily eliminated the smell although it continued to return. The vehicle is still under warrant, y but there has been no permanent solution to this problem. The warranty will expire in 3 months, and I would like the problem to be resolved prior to warranty expiration.
I am the owner of a c-230 4 door sedan VIN# wdbrf40j93f386357. I have an issue that I was looking into addressing when another major issue just arrose that I need help from the manufacturer who I have contacted but not received a response. 1) last week I decided to quote insurance and make a change to allstate. Once they put in the VIN# major issues came. The price was way different then what I was paying with Mercury. To make this short, after talking to my broker at Mercury, it turns out my 4 door has the VIN# of a 2 door coupe. I called beverly hills ltd where I purchased the car new. They did nothing. I have the original temp registration from the day I purchased the car new, and the dealer typed coupe not four door and on the lease agreement. I did not notice this. Here are my issues. The coupe is more expensive on insurance - I have been overpaying since 2/2003. 2nd, am I paying a fair lease rate if the VIN# is for another body style. This car has been nothing but nightmare to deal with since the day I purchased it. It has been serviced 8 times, transmission work, 2 computers, camshaft, new radio, idle issues, brake system failed, and so on. It's a complete lemon. It is going in next week again. I have only 21,000 on the car, and drive my 2nd car more a 79 300sd mercedes as it is more reliable then this new car. I need somewhere, someone to go to, any information would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so much, darren weingarten - phone or email.
: the contact stated that while driving at 55 mph, there were exhaust fumes entering the cab of the vehicle from an unknown area. The fumes caused the contact to develop headaches. The vehicle was taken to a service dealer, where the dealer was unable to determine the problem.
The consumer's vehicle ignited and caught fire due to contents next to vehicle igniting. The dealer, where the vehicle was towed to suggested the cause of the fire was due to "fix a flat. " the manufacturer representative and the fire department, determined the fire started due to the exhaust system which was directly under the area that burned.

This is a new mercedes-benz C230 compressor engine with one thousand miles. Last month a sulfur smell emitted from the exhaust while warming. I was told this is normal. Three times this week on ignition the car shook violently and would not stop until the engine was turned off. The car is drivable and I have returned it to the dealer. They are attempting to fix it.
The vehicle's exhaust system rattled, there were numerous electrical problems, the check engine light had come on intermittently and was reset because there was no problem found, there had been a possibility of problems with the seal on the fuel injection and air injection valves, the climate control unit was faulty, the heated driver side seat did not work properly, and the middle console did not close. Scc.
