2001 Mercedes Benz E320. Front spring perch surrounding perch structure is rusting through underneath the factory undercoating. We have a 2" rust through right next to the spring perch. Surround perimteter of around 5" radius show extensive rust of various degree. The rust is so extensive that it compromises the vehicle safety. Catastrophic failure is very possible. This rust around front suspension spring perch is prevalent in earlier w210 body chassis from 1996 to 2002. Canadian government has made mb do a recall service. United kingdom also have massive issues with the spring perch. Since these cars are at least 9 years old and as old as 15 years old. . . The rust has gotten to certain point in various degree from catastrophic failure to impending catastrophic failure. You need to scrape suspect flaking undercoating to reveal the extensive rust behind it. Otherwise, the undercoating masks the potential safety issues.

was driving down the stree on the hwy and a very loud noise scare me. Pull over over, then drive slowly to the gaz station and was told very bad news driver side front spring perch broke off and separate from the car.

During the course of ownership of an 1998 Mercedes Benz E320 the front top spring support a. K. A rusts out and can easily disintegrate causing complete fallout of the front wheel assembly and if happening in the highway it can easily kill you. Luckily for me it happened in a 30 mph road where the spring perch broke off and the whole front wheel got out of place locking itself up.

The contact owns a 1997 Mercedes Benz E320. While the contact was driving 65 mph he noticed that the front end of the vehicle suddenly dropped on the ground. The vehicle was taken to the dealer where the contact was informed that the front brace spring needed to be replaced. The current and failure mileages were 110800.
After turning into the parking lot of a repair shop, the front of the vehicle dropped to the ground. Further investigation by the repair shop found that the front spring perch had failed.
Front spring perches must have been rusted at the welding seam. When I was driving at 35 mph I heard a big snap and the front of the car hit the ground at which point I lost steering control. The front perches must have dislodged and almost caused accident while I was driving. This is a vital part of the suspension/steering system and should be recalled. The dealership would not help out replacing this part. This is clearly a manufacturing issue and should be recalled. Luckily I was driving on a local road, or it could have caused an accident or death, at which point they would have had a lawsuit on their hands. I also had 2 additional passengers at the time of the occurrence. This event could have been prevented by a recall as I've also heard the same issues from other owners. The car is a Mercedes Benz 1996 E320 with 134,000 miles on it.

While pulling into a parking space the front rt. Side suspension began to sink. I got out of the car to take a look and noticed the airbag suspension had completely collapsed. I tried pressing a few buttons to raise the suspension and nothing. The collapse of the airbag suspension was instantaneous and with brief notice.

Mercedes have a front suspension problem. Consumer states that the front driver side dropped and wants to know why there is not a recall for this. The technicians found the problem to be the perch, which had to do with the front suspension letting go, which caused the frame to drop.
Driving my 1997 Mercedes Benz E320 at 30 mph along a semi-rough road when a loud clanking began for no apparent reason. After a mechanic looked at it, it was found that the spring perch had become detached from the chassis.
Front spring perch are rusted through on both sides of car. Front left spring perch is about 50% rusted thru. Mercedes repair shop felt car should be driven carefully. Said hitting a big pot hole could break spring perch. Repair required immediately.
The left front upper spring perch failed causing the suspension to collapse. This occurred due to poor design of the perch attachment to the frame. The failure occurred in my driveway, luckily not at speed on the road where total loss of control would have occurred. The perch and spring was replaced.
The consumer was pulling out of the driveway and hit the brakes. The consumer got out of the vehicle and discovered that the suspension of the vehicle had dropped down to the ground. The vehicle was towed to the dealership. The vehicle was parked in the driveway, the consumer tried to drive the vehicle into the garage when the right front collapsed. The consumer was told this was due to rusting.
Consumer states theatfront suspension is rusted, all suspension brackets collapsed. Dealer notified.
The spring support tower in the front right broke away from the body of the vehicle causing a loud noise from the right front tire area, the dealer only agreed to pay 50% of the bill because the warranty expired three weeks before the incident. Nlm.
