The contact owns a 2001 Mitsubishi gallant. While driving at
approximately 5 mph, the contact activated the automatic front
passenger side window mechanism in an upward motion which
failed to operate. However, after waiting a period of twenty to
thirty minutes the window began to function normally. The
failure occurred at any speed traveled. The vehicle was taken to
an authorized dealer where the technician informed that the
manufacturer service warranty had expired. The vehicle had not
been repaired at the time of the complaint. The failure mileage
was approximately 115,000.

Began having trouble with both rear windows. The windows would intermittently become unresponsive to controls both at the driver seat and the controls on the doors. Brought the car in before the warranty expired (4 yrs, 8 mos) to get windows repaired, dealer could not duplicate the errors and did not do any service on the car. Six months later (after warranty expired), the rear, passenger side power window went completely down on its own (I had not touched window controls). While I was driving my car and would not go back up. Independent garage had to remove door panel and sever the controls in order to get the window up; then had to wedge the window with a block to keep it up until parts could be ordered. If any pets or children had been in the car when the window first went down, they could have easily gone out the window.

In less than 2 years I've had both rear passenger windows fall 4 times unexpectedly while driving. When taken to the dealership the window regulator was replaced all 4 times.

There was a strong burning smell and a crackling noise. Smoke and small flames expelled from the front passenger door panel. The contact extinguished the fire without injury. He did not notify the fire department. The inside of the door panel exhibited severe damage from the flames. The cause of failure has not been determined and the vehicle is being repaired. The power window switch will not roll windows up or down. At first the driver side control would not operate any windows in vehicle. Then the driver side power window quit working also. It seems as if the motor is defective. Dt.

As I was driving, my car filled up with a rubber scent of burning rubber. The conrol switch box on the drivers side door began smoking out of the window locks crack. Pooring raining, pulled over and immediately shut off car. After 5 min. Smoke went away. Smell remains. Disconnected battery. Window still open a crack. Would not shut and a trash bag is covering the hole. This was scary. In August, 1 month after buying the car the sunroof would not work. Open or shut. This is just another electrical problem that has occured with this vehicle.
The power door lock and window switch failed. Nlm.
