1 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/07/2020

Car was fine. Had it serviced 4 months ago and was told car was in good condition. Today got an check engine light. Had it towed now being told it's a transmission issues and will cost 4000 to replace. I just financed this car about a year and a half. I owe finance company 343 a month. I was told it should be under recall because the 2016 Nissan cvt transmissions were recalled but mine is not showing. What can I do?both jobs have been cut due to covid. . It's christmas time and now a transmission on a fairly new car. This car gave me no warning. . No noises. . . Nothing at all to indicate my transmission needed service. One day it's fine next day my transmission is out. Please help. I can not afford a 4000 repair on a car I just bought last year plus pay a car note. Can my car be considered apart of the 2016 transmission recall? my car stop running on me in the middle of the road in a high traffic area. I almost got hit from the back twice due to my car sitting in middle of high traffic area/ lane.

2 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 11/20/2020

Three hours into my drive, I was going about 70 mph and noticed my car started to slow down and was making a noise. I pulled over, got out, checked my power steering fluid. It was fine so I drove off and as I was entering the freeway, I noticed the car wasn't picking up speed again. I drove to the next exit and got off. I literally coasted to a parking lot of an industrial building. After several attempts at trying to leave the parking lot, I noticed I couldn't go up the hill. I waited about 30 minutes, picked up speed and made it up the hill and onto a 2 lane road. I drove to a hotel about 4 miles away, going about 40 mph. I realized that as long as I didn't stop, I would be fine. The next morning I found a mechanic shop, called and drove there with minimal problems. He told me the year, make and model of my car had been having issues with the cvt transmission. He hooked a machine up and it gave him these codes: p0746, p0826, p1778 step motor, p0868. He told me to check for recalls. I was able to drive the car 3 hours back to my house in woodbridge.

3 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 10/11/2020

I have 2013 Nissan Altima s. It has ~89k miles on it. The transmission stopped working on 10/11/2020. How can NHTSA assist? Nissan refused to provide any assistance. The cvts installed in the Nissan Altimas have caused a variety of problems - shaking, losing acceleration and stalling, among others - according to owners who are regularly posting complaints on websites such as autonews. Com, carcomplaints. Com, and cars. Com. Nissan Altima owners have secured a settlement offer from the carmaker which would resolve claims that the vehicles' transmissions fail prematurely. Lead plaintiffs alleged that 2013 through 2016 Nissan Altimas suffer from shuddering, hesitation, stalling, and noises stemming from defective continuous variable automatic transmissions. Vaccording to the Nissan class action, vehicles stall unexpectedly, causing them to stop in traffic without illuminating the brake lights. Vconversely, the defect could also allegedly cause an unexpected surge in power, causing drivers to lose control. Vvdespite consumer complaints, Nissan reportedly forced owners to pay for a $3,000 fix that often left them with more defective parts. Case # 42179365. Due to covid, my issue surfaced after 7 year deadline on may 11, 2020. This is wrong and Nissan will not take responsibility for it. I tried to work with madison at Nissan 615-725-7208. 5 Transmission Noise problem of the 2016 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/14/2020

While driving towards the end of the trip 250 miles, was cruising about 15 mph, car was no longer responding to acceleration, engine making loud noise as if struggling and rpm increased about 5000, I drove like this for about 2 miles, no check engine light came on. Next day car drove fine. Had two similar episodes in the following months while driving in traffic, car with suddenly slow down and not responding to acceleration, rpm increased 5-6k, these lasted less than a minute and then drove normal again. Last week had a major episode, while in traffic at 40 miles an hour, was not accelerating again and speed stuck at 40 mph. And rpms increased to about 5 to 6000, no check engine light came on, engine sound as if struggling. Car is now jerking when reversing, only has 44,800 miles. I did some research and they are several videos on youtube with similar model Altima experiencing similar problems, most people think is the cvt transmission that is faulty and overheating.

6 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 02/04/2020

I was driving down the highway and my transmission started making a loud whining noise and revved up to about 6400 rpm's and my car had no acceleration from that time on. . Now I'm facing either paying $3400 for a new transmission or just trashing a perfectly well kept up car. I've always made sure to have my car completely serviced and maintained on time. After this I will never buy from Nissan again. These cvt transmissions are horrible. Nissan is looking after their profit instead of reliability. This is a 2012 Altima with 125000 miles.

7 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/31/2020

Accelerating from a stop sign, about 10 feet later there was no power to the wheels. Neither reverse or forward gears worked and the check engine light came on. Engine runs normally and no abnormal noises. Ended up having to push the car to the nearest safe area and waited for a tow. This seems to be a sudden transmission failure at just over 50,000 miles the shop has quoted me $4000 to replace the transmission citing they have seen many failures on the Nissan cvt's and do not recommend repairing them.

8 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Nissan says my cvt transmission isnt covered by the extended warranty. My car has only 72,000 miles and is starting to show problems. I feel if it doesn't break now it will soon and feel they should honor the warranty that a law suit was filed. The rpms arent climbing when I accelerate and there is a noise when its between 30 and 40 miles an hr.

9 Transmission Noise problem of the 2014 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 12/03/2019

I purchased a used 2014 Nissan Altima with 58,000 miles. It drove great during test driving and on my way home which is 1 hour away from where I live. By day 2 the car began jerking around 60 mi per hr. And under. I made an appointment to have it looked at my local Nissan dealership. By day 4 on the way to the dealership the rpm would jump up to 4 and the car made a winding noise. It would advance forward quickly and then stall. All of this while driving on a major highway. I came to a place where I could pull over waited a few minutes and then tried to pull off the car would not go anywhere. I finally had to have it towed to the dealership. Nissan has yet to know what the problem is, saying it has an "unspecified code". It's been 3 days. I know there had been a recall on the cvt transmission however I don't see my vehicle VIN on the list.

10 Transmission Noise problem of the 2011 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/08/2019

Cat transmission failure at 129k miles. Winding noise and slipping. Car would not accelerate at any given time. This is a cvt transmission that Nissan has an issue with and refuses to own up to it. At 10 years/50000 miles the transmission suddenly failed again, again while in motion, leaving me once more stranded on the road. That transmission also had to be replaced. It is now 12 years/60000 miles and today this transmission is starting to slip and make a whirring noise. (this is the date I have used below).

13 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 01/14/2019

I purchased the 2012 Nissan in 2015 with only 22,000 and something miles. Once the car got to about 76,000 something miles a whining noise started. So now with the car at only 83,074 miles the transmission isn't getting any power. So I turn to read reviews and talk to people only to find out the cvt's aren't worth anything and to get them replaced the price is ridiculous and I can't afford it. But you would think with all the complaints about it Nissan would do something about it. I would not tell anyone to purchase a Nissan ever. Also when the whining would take place the car was being driven on city streets or major highways.

Upon seeing reviews on the internet in hearing a lot of complaints due to the transmission problems with the Nissan baltimore frome yes before the 2012 model up until now that something has to be done to correct this problem with Nissan dealers to fix this brow with all the alter most this having a strong with faulty equipment. It is very dangerous to drive by losing power especially if you only in a state will call several accidents due to losing power to upgrade and wanting noise is just creates a big problem moon in a state if you drive-in in your fewer in a major city with the the vehicle slowing down without your control.

16 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 06/02/2018

My car started making a whining noise while driving it. Going up the hill my car on a highway in the desert when the speed declined it's from 70mph to 45mph, which I tried to accelerate and it was stuck on 45mph, and almost caused the car behind me to crash into me with my three young children in the back seat. A lot of complaints have been made and nothing's has been done. What does it take a life to be taken in order for a recall. The transmissions on these cars are crap. Every time someone walks into the dealership they seem to be well aware but no recall he been done.

17 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/25/2018

My car is a 2013 Nissan Altima and it just hit 90,000 miles. I purchased the car in March 2013 with 45,000 miles on it. May 25th my car started having trouble. It included going backwards when the car was in drive, losing power as I'm driving, reving/winding noise, and finally not moving at all. Everything pointed a problems with the transmission and to take it to a Nissan dealership. After doing the diagnostics, they said I needed to replace the transmission. Because my warranty ran out in March I asked about the cost of the replacement and was told it was $3,800. I spoke with Nissan consumer affairs on may 29th and was told that the regional consumer manager would call. Jason did call and said he had to research. On Tuesday, June 5th, the decision was that because the car was out of warranty they would not cover the transmission replacement. I asked him about the recall that was issued by Nissan in December 2016 acknowledging the cvt transmissions needed to be reprogrammed and if not it would lead to accelerated damage. I also made him aware that I never received that notice. His response was because I was not the original owner of the vehicle, I did not receive the recall notice. He would not answer how if Nissan knew that the cvt transmissions were a problem on some vehicles why did it matter that my warranty had expired in March. He also had no response to me saying that a normal transmission does not need to be replaced on a car that is only 5 years old and has not even hit 100,000 miles. So although it is a well known issue with some of the cvt transmissions, a recall that is on Nissan's website associated with my VIN number, the acknowledgement that I did not receive the recall notice to bring it in for service, I am stuck with a $3,800 repair bill if I want to fix my car.

18 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/23/2018

I own a 2012 Nissan Altima and the car was running good untill 70000. After 70k mile its started making too much noise and at 80k miles its losing power even if I run the gas pedal all the way. The rpm will staty at 2500 at this point. When I researched found out that the cvt transmissions has design falw and most of the cvt transmission has the same issue. I took it to the Nissan dealer and they said I have to replace the transmission. I cant believe that Nissan cars lasts for only 70k miles. These problems are coming when I am driving on the highway all of a sudden and its very dangerous to drive this car.

19 Transmission Noise problem of the 2009 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/17/2018

I purchased my car in 2012 shortly after purchasing the car I noticed something didn't feel quite right I called the Nissan service dept and explained the issue they assured me everything was okay but then in 2016 I complained to Nissan about the whining noise again and when traveling on the interstate how my car would just slow down with no warning causing the tractor trailer traveling behind me to think quickly and jump into another lane or else I probably would not be alive to be writing you. The next incident was after I exited off of the interstate and stopped at the stop sign once I begin to accelerate my car stalled in the middle of the street causing a car coming around the curve to quickly exit onto the interstate to keep from hitting me. When I explained all of this to Nissan they already knew about this issue and I said why wasn't this something you send out to consumers because if you already know then this isn't the first incident. At the time I reported this I had 119,876 miles on my car the rep proceeded to tell me I was past the extended warranty I said what extended warranty I knew nothing about this and never received anything in reference to this. Needless to say Nissan never followed back up with me and I reached out to them again recently about this same issue and told them nobody ever followed up and I was almost hit once again due to losing power in the middle of the interstate. Took the car in to a Nissan service depart explained the issue once again they said OH there is a service bulletin on the engine but this had nothing to do with the transmission but assured me this was the issue needless to say two days later and $390 later the problem still isn't fixed. This is a safety hazard and one day may cause fatalities. This should be a recall for those vehicles under the warranty. They have lawsuits. . Read more...

20 Transmission Noise problem of the 2012 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 05/06/2018

When driving in warm weather for 1. 5 hours or more cvt transmission loses power and makes a whining noise. This is a known issue regarding these transmissions and Nissan extended warranty on vehicles up to 2010 because of it. Transmission says it is overheating and puts itself into "safe mode" thereby losing all power and ability to accelerate on hills, etc. I was almost rear ended due to the sudden loss of power and acceleration.

22 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 03/27/2018

On April 2018, I visit the Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr to report noise in the power steering noise, no action was taken, they just said that was normal with all Nissan power steering pump. February 25, 2021 I contact Nissan del oeste at aguadilla pr and notify about the issue of the power steering noise and transmission noise. Appointment for March 2 2021 was set and I notify them with problem. They told me there was not any recall for power steering pump and cvt transmission. I did mention the recalls for 2013 Nissan Altima iaw NHTSA with ref. : st12-009b, ref:ntbb-0176 andTSB ntb12-081. They inform at the voucher the mileage in and out, they did not took the car for a run of 6 miles like it says on voucher 48133s. The main concern is that the car could have any situation with one of those parts just mentioned during a drive and cause any accident with out having the control. My question is, if there is a malfunction for my 2013 Altima that is already knowledge by Nissan motor comp. And provide recalls why my have to be exclude? the power steering noise is at every moment when on and running, power steering fluid is good. The transmmision is during the driving with some noise after 20 miles drive on highway between 65 to 70 mph and then pressing the brake, the noise feel like it come from the transmmision. Another situation is ocaccionaly some lowt of power and some times accelerate. Brakes pads are good, brake fluid is good. My car mpg is 31. 2 and mileage at this moment is 76,680.

Now I am having to replace a transmission that's going to cost me 4,000. 00. I researched transmission issues on the internet and a lot of people are having the same issues. 27 Transmission Noise problem of the 2013 Nissan Altima

Failure Date: 09/13/2017

My 2013 Nissan Altima, which was purchased new has had issues with the cvt transmission since it was purchased. In 9/2014 at 42k miles the transmission failed and was replaced. Now in 9/2017 I am being told by Nissan that the transmission that was replaced by them in 2014 is also bad and needs to be replaced at a cost to me of $4,100. 00. Who can afford a $4,100 repair on a vehicle that is still being paid for monthly, and why is it the consumer's fault that Nissan na is making and selling faulty, unsafe products? Nissan na knows of the ongoing issues with these cvt transmissions, but choses to nothing to rectify the issues. My vehicle will not pull and makes a whining noise while I am driving. This it the same issue that occurred in 2014. While I was in motion on a major interstate the vehicle began to lose power, spudder and jerk, and dropped down to about 10-15 mph. It was a horrifying experience to be in the middle of the interstate traveling at 60 mph, and all of a sudden start to lose speed. I was finally able to get the vehicle to the shoulder safely. These vehicles are unsafe to be driven. I am in total disbelief that none of the agencies charged with the protection of consumers safety and ethical treatment , will or has gotten involved to force Nissan to stop endangering the well being of those of us who drive these vehicles. I am a loyal Nissan owner, who has owned 2 other Nissan vehicles. In fact, I currently own a 1995 Nissan maxima that has never had a transmission issue. How can a 22 year old car still drive perfectly and a 2013 need 2 transmission replacements. Someone needs to hold Nissan accountable for their actions and treatment of consumers, as well as their blatant disregard for the safety of those of us who drive and transport passengers in their vehicles everyday.

2012 Nissan Altima 2. 5s sedan, purchased new plus extended warranty with 3 miles on it. At 64k miles while driving on the highway after about a. Hour at normal speeds on a hot day the car started making a whining noise from the engine compartment. The vehicle became sluggish and the speed reduced to 60mph. The rpm gauge began to rise ant the car began to decrease it's speed eventually descending to 20 mph while the rpm gauge fluctuated from 2k to 5k rpm. The gas pedal was non responsive except for a louder whining noise as it was pressed . We pulled over for a while and the vehicle went to normal. This exact same issue happened 2 more times before we arrived home. The dealer responded stating a new transmission was needed but not covered they said my warranty was not valid. I complained, they contacted headquarters I guess and stated to me because the car was under 70k miles the company would pay partial for the repair but my out of pocket expenses would have been about 1200. Not only did I think this was unfair but I also didn't have an extra 1200 lyng around. So unfortunately I've been dealing with this issue for years car drives fine for about 40 min. So no long commutes.
