2 Wiring problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 07/11/2014

Ran a diagnostics test at a parts store and came back about the "intake air temperature circuit high input. " I didn't think much about it, but the part is relatively cheap, I just don't know if I can replace that myself. But when I registered my vehicle it came back as a fail on the emissions test for the state due to this part. While looking it up and checking on line about this issue I saw several entries that it may also affect the warning lights for abs and braking systems. Those have been on as well for a long time. I have had the brakes replaced twice in the past 2 years. The second time was because they had given me defective brake pads the first time and they were worn out with in 3 months. But now I have to get the intake air temperature circuit replaced, and it sounds like it may be more wiring than the circuit itself, but I don't have time and ability to work through all the possibilities, nor the money to let a mechanic do it as well. If this is a known issue, then why isn't it being addressed by Oldsmobile (gm) either? they have a bulletin about it!.

3 Wiring problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 06/16/2010

The security alarm light come on in my Oldsmobile Alero, it happens almost every day. In this case, the car will not start for ten minutes, and even after that ten minutes it will not start. General motors will not take responsibility for the problem even though there are over three hundred cases of this in online complaints. They want me to get a diagnosis on my car again and not refund me for another diagnosis. Other people have replaced, fuel pumps, batteries, and ignition systems to only find out it's faulty wiring by Oldsmobile.

4 Wiring problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 06/06/2008

Security sensor fails. Car will run fine one minute and not at all the next minute. Have read of several complaints about this exact problem. Obviously a defect with the car--is anything being done about it??? now, resetting the sensor (the whole keep the key in the 'on' position for 10 minutes trick) doesn't work. Where does this end??? I know that no one has been seriously injured by this but if it is a wiring issue, it's only time before someone could be. Also, if I get stranded with my children somewhere, that would be really bad.

8 Wiring problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 01/17/2005

While driving to work on Jan 17 I turned on the rear defroster. Within a few minutes, two to three, I heard a popping sound. Just one time, so I started looking around the interior of the car. I noticed a hole between the rear passenger window and the rear window. My Alero was a 2 door. When I got when I could pull over there were flames coming from the hole. I was unable to put them out. I called 911. By time the fire trucks arrived the car was fully engulfed in flames and was beyond saving. The only thing left of it was the body and the engine.

9 Wiring problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 01/12/2005

Engine blew. All the warnings lights are on across the dashboard. We bought this car used for our son and after having it for about a 18 months the engine blew. The dealer that fixed it said he should have paid attention to the warning light. My son changed the oil on time always and the lights never went out. Tried to get the lights out to no avail. Paid 2800. 00 to have used engine put in by the dealer and the dash lights are still on. Some sort of electrical problem because heat/defroster only work on high even after replaced engine installed. This has been a nightmare for a young man with his first car.

11 Wiring problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 11/02/2004

I just received a letter in the mail from Oldsmobile letting me know that there is a current open recall on hazard / turn signals. I would like to file a compliant about my 2001 Oldsmobile Alero, because not only do my turn signals and hazards not work, but my cruise control automatically kicks off by itself all the time, I have a low tire pressure light that stays on constantly, and my radio does not work half the time. I believe there is a short in the wires of my car. This all happened at the same time my turn signals / hazards stop working also. The low tire pressure light never lets me know if I really may have a low tire (which could result in a blowout while driving, etc. ) although, I've had the tires checked numerous times currently but, I am wondering since the light is on and the tire may really be low and I have a blowout, it could cause me to have an accident. Also, the same with the cruise control. If a vehicle is following too close, and the cruise kicks off, then the following vehicle may bump into my rear of my car. I would like this looked into if at all possible. Thank you very much.

12 Wiring problem of the 1999 Oldsmobile Alero

When it rains car either wont start, or guages will not work. Radio stops working. Brake lights go on and off. Fuse box was corroded, replaced worked fine for about 2 months and no is acting up again. Mechanics could find nothing else wrong. It was in the shop 4 times before they fixed the fuse box. Dealership tried to fix something that wasnt the problem and charge $450 more than the cost.

16 Wiring problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 06/02/2003

Brake lights keep blowing out. And the lights on the digital odometer as well as the clock on the cd player go out briefly. I am also experiencing problem with the gas gage. It goes up to full and then drops to e and does this over and over quite rapidly. I have also been unhooking my battery everytime I get out of my car because if I don't, my head lights come on and won't shut off causing my battery to drain.

17 Wiring problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 05/01/2003

18 Wiring problem of the 2001 Oldsmobile Alero

Failure Date: 02/25/2003

My car is a 2001, it has a mind of it's own , luckily the blinker, flasher issue is being recalled. My car has been doing this for quite some time. I believe that there are major electrical issues with these cars. My drivers side window works when it wants too. When I try to roll it down, it will pull down the engine and my lights will dim very low. ( exterior and interior lights. ) my back speakers also work whenever they want to. I am not one to listen to loud music, but it's pretty bad when only the front speakers work. I believe these cars need to be rewired. The latest problem happened about 6 months ago. The transmission lever button completely broke off. Luckily the button is still "literally" hanging in there ,but if it falls out and gets lost there is no way for me to put my car into gear or out of gear for that matter. This is very dangerous, you have to have the button to put the car into park. The dealer whom I bought the car from is not willing to help at all with any of the situations with my car. How can consumers protect themselves from companies who do not stand by their products. We pay good money for our vehicles and this is what we have to live with. Our lives being in danger.

19 Wiring problem of the 2000 Oldsmobile Alero
