Service Brakes Problems of Saturn Relay

Tl the contact owns a 2007 Saturn Relay. While driving 50 mph, the vehicle accelerated to 80 mph. When the brake pedal was depressed, the vehicle did not decelerate. The contact placed the vehicle into neutral and the speed decreased to 40 mph. The contact then shifted into park and the vehicle stopped. The vehicle was not taken to a dealer to be diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 150,000.

The anti-lock brake system warning light and traction control system (tcs) warning light continue to light up and stays on I have seen similar complaints on various chat sessions.

Abs system acting up , occurring off and on service brakes hydraulic problem . Happens everyday since I've owned it. Also previous owner had same problem.

While driving on freeway, Saturn Relay 2005 slowed down and lost power intermittently. Dash warning lights flashed on and off (abs/stability/traction) - warning lights. The vehicle had no power on and off. When I applied the gas, the vehicle bogged down and continued to slow. Then all of a sudden, the vehicle accelerated when I depressed the gas pedal. I could not move over to the berm due to heavy traffic so I attempted to exit at an upcoming exit ramp. When I applied the brakes nothing happened the first few times. Then the brakes worked so I was able to slow down eventually. The brakes were pulsating when I would depress the brake pedal and intermittently, nothing would happen.

I started getting "service traction control system" warning message and light with "service abs system" warning message and light and "service stability system". All are always at the same time. Shutting off the engine and restarting (per owners manual) temporarily causes the lights and messages to turn off, but they always return later. This problem is well documented in Saturn forums and is happening with many, many owners.

I bought a used 2005 Saturn Relay 3 in January 2010. I have 2 major issues going power sliding doors will not recognize that they are closed and will continue to ding as if I was driving with them open. . . On a few occasions I have heard the power door motor start on its own as if it was trying to open the doors while I am driving! second issue is abs/traction control lights have been coming on sporadically since I purchased it. Of course, no one can find the problem because they can't replicate it. It doesn't matter the driving conditions, driving time, weather or anything else. Both have happened at various speeds. Currently the lights are staying on more than off and yesterday while driving, the warning lights were off until I stepped on the brakes, felt and heard a clunking sound, the brake petal gave way some, and the service abs/no traction control lights came back on again. The car did stop. Talked to the used car dealership that sold it to me and I am currently making arrangements to have vehicle looked at. In researching I have found numerous complaints about these same issues on a number of forums.

I have a Saturn Relay with brake problems. The abs does not work properly. Very scary stuff. The abs will come on with dry conditions but will not come on when we actually need them, like in the snow. Saturn does not know what the issue is. Keep taking my van back and nobody seems to know how to fix it. I guess there waiting for me and my children to actually get into a serious accident before anyone will do something about it.

The traction control and abs goes out excessively in my 2007 Saturn Relay, affecting the braking system. This happens every time it is driven. There is a service message that appears. The only correction so far is to shut the engine off and turn it back on. This only works for a few minutes until it begins again.

The traction control system engaged while driving at freeway speed on state highway 153 in chattanooga, TN, causing the vehicle to veer right out of the lane. The system immediately shut off and a "service traction control system/abs system/stability system" warning appeared in the dash readout. After turning off the vehicle, the warning went away. Then a week later the same thing happened on a city street at low speed, and again the warning appeared, and again, it disappeared. I've contacted Saturn who stated the fault was in the electronic brake control module (ebcm) and it would have to be replaced at a cost of over $1,000. I have been in contact with other Relay owners who have experienced the same occurrence. This is obviously a safety related issue that can cause loss of control of the vehicle and result in death or serious injury. Given that the fault is seen in other cars of the same make and model, I feel a mandatory recall should be issued to fix the problem before someone is injured or killed in a crash.

I have a 2006 Saturn Relay. It was an executive driven car and was purchased with 400 miles on it and the warranty transferred over to me. The traction control on this vehicle is defective. When the traction control engaged it would knock out the stability control, traction control, and abs system. Although I have breaks, they are manual breaks. At first Saturn said the system is working to factory specs until it happened to their vehicle. Then all of a sudden there was a problem with mine. I do not feel safe in the car because, I should not have to worry about what kind of breaking system I have when trying to engage my breaks. I do not want to cause harm to anyone or have any accident caused by this result in death. I do not want harm to me or my loved ones either. No one at Saturn or Saturn of greenfield senses the urgency of this situation. It isn't until I complaint that I at least get some type of action, although it results in the system failing again. I have my car in to have this issue fixed earlier this summer. This past weekend, the system failed three times in two days. Not a good result. I need this documented so that in the event I am involved in a serious accident, I will not be accused of not disclosing this situation. I can say that I did and no one took it seriously which will probably result in a long messy legal battle. I have done my part, but Saturn of greenfield and gm (Saturn) has failed to do theirs.

2005 Saturn Relay has numerous design flaws, and Saturn is unable to fix. Onstar disables speedometer when used, radio mutes and car must be turned off and back on to reset, abs system malfunctions repeatedly even after replacing ebcm, abs pump, bcm, lights flicker both interior and exterior, alternator found to have erratic output, new alternator did not solve problem. Brake rotors warped within 25k miles. Saturn will only keeping trying to repair, but is unable to solve problems.
