A few times since the summer of 2003 we would try to shut the rear passenger car door and it would not catch to close. We put some lithium grease thinking it just needed that. This weekend while putting the kids in the car the door would not shut. It took 30 minutes of manipulating the handle, door locks and window to try and get the door to shut. We cannot let our children ride in the car because we know the latch could fail and our children could be put in harms way.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the rear driver side door was unable to be opened from the inside or outside of the vehicle. The dealer advised the contact to bring the vehicle in for diagnostic testing and the manufacturer was made aware of the failure. No repairs were performed. The current and failure mileages were 70,000.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact turned the key in the ignition and a fire ignited. The fire department responded and extinguished the flames. In addition, the headlights became dim and the doors on the vehicle were unable to be locked. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The VIN was unknown. The failure mileage was 79,200.
I have an '06 Vue. Both of the back doors will not open from the inside or the outside. The factory was no help. I am in the shreveport area and was very disappointed that they would not help me. They were not even sure if they could fix the problem. Recall needs to be done. Had to take my vehicle to a body shop to have it serviced.
1) leading events - purchased the car in 2009 used from a certified dealer, was provided with 2 separate sets of keys. Within the first 6 months of driving I noticed increased difficulty in starting the car with the keys provided. Alerted dealer and was given another set of keys. 2) failure - key to ignition frequently sticks and stays in the ignition while car is running. Also have identified that the steering wheel frequently locks which makes it even more difficult to start the ignition. 3) initially I was given a replacement key from the dealer that worked on and off. The car will be turned in for service this weekend to determine what the defect is if any on the car. Estimated cost $250-$500.
2007 Saturn Vue fwd v6 passenger door does not open when door is unlocked and outside or inside door handle is lifted. Repeated attempts to lock and unlock will eventually spring the door latch loose. Aside from the inconvenience, the problem can cause entrapment of the passenger.

Ignition lock failure. Key will not turn to off position. Key locked into ignition cylinder. Key comes out of cylinder but cylinder does not turn to off position and can continues running, solution for now take key out and take out ignition fuse to stop interior electrical from running or disconnect battery. If does not turn to accessory position have to remove fuel fuse and ignition fuse. Cost of repair over $300, from internet reading this is happening on most Saturn Vue and Saturn ion vehicles. This needs to be recalled and isn't, just has a service bulletin which is not covered by warranty and costing lots of people lots of money for a defect that they should have recalled. Please recall!.

The contact owns a 2003 Saturn Vue. The contact was driving 10 mph on a snow and ice covered road surface when he applied the brakes and the entire instrument panel illuminated. There was a complete loss of the power steering and brakes. The contact engaged the brakes several times before the vehicle stopped. When attempting to exit the front driver side door, the automatic door locks would not release. All of the interior door locks became inoperative. The contact was able to exit the front driver side door by applying excessive force with a hammer to the door lock mechanism. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic where they informed him that the failure was related to a computerized system malfunction. The technician attempted to repair the vehicle but to no avail. The failure mileage was 172,000.
On 2/23/09- my husband opened the hatchback of my 2008 Saturn Vue. He noticed the hatchback a bit heavy and after lifting it, he naturally let it go. I was already starting to put groceries when the door fell down. Luckily, my husband was quick and caught the door before it crushed my arm. He opened it again and then realized the pneumatic lifts were not working.

1. The interior driver side door handle is "chrome" covered and has caused cuts that required a 'butterfly' stitching. 2. Every time I open the door I get cut 3. I have contacted Saturn for almost a year to repair this to no avail. 1. The tire pressure sensors are on backwards. If my left front tire is going flat the sensors and lights say it's the left rear tire. 2. This happens each time my tire gets low and I just figured out the problem 3 months ago. It causes me to over inflate the incorrect tire and the low tire is still low on air. 3. I have contacted Saturn for almost a year about this and they have not helped.

2006 Saturn Vue rear door latches both do not work - doors fly open - had trouble after 2 years on passenger side, got it working, then a year later both failed completely (out of warranty of course). I understand there is a recall on 2008 Vues, what about 2006?.
I was unable to open my drivers side door from both the outside and the from inside of the vehicle. I called the dealer in my city, they were able to replace the door latch. I was told that this is a common problem with the Saturn Vue, so I was surprised that I was charged for the replacement.
Rear doors fail to latch. Happened to both rear doors on separate occasions, both times with children in the backseat.
Back doors on vehicle will not close. At first only frequently now I can not get them to close and latch at all. The car has not been in any accidents. Front doors have no problems. I am in the process of getting the company to fix as I feel they were defective as the back doors are not used that much. As vehicle is out of warranty they have not been real cooperative.
Door handles stick in the open position not allowing doors to latch when closed.
The contact owns a 2005 Saturn Vue. The passenger and rear driver-side doors will not open if the doors are unlocked. The vehicle doors are equipped with a key entry lock that open and close them; however, they cannot be opened from the inside or outside of the vehicle with the key. The dealer was contacted and a technician concluded that they would have to break the locks. No repairs were made. However the first time he notified the dealer, he was advised to take the battery out to shut down the power to reset the computer as a temporary remedy. The failure mileage was 60000. The current mileage was 70300.
The contact owns a 2006 Saturn Vue. The contact stated that the rear passenger door lock failed, which caused the door to open while driving 55 mph. She took the vehicle to the dealer and they stated that there was a defect in the vehicle. The dealer replaced the door latch. The contact believes a recall should be issued. The current and failure mileages were 65,000.
Safety recall for 2008 Saturn Vue with same color door handles would be replaced with chrome handles. My 2008 Saturn Vue has the same color door handles and when I took it into the dealership, they stated that they would not replace the handles because the VIN wasn't part of the recall. However, my door handles have stuck in the open position several times. Knowing of the recall, I'm very careful to make sure that the door handle latches and the door closes. Although I'm careful, my passengers may not notice it and could possibly have the door open on them.
The 2006 Saturn Vue had an exhaust bolt broke when taken to dealership at scottsdale Saturn. The bolt was connected to the exhaust manifold up by the engine. They said it must have broke off but I didn't believe them. So it would have cost to much at the dealership and took it somewhere else to get it fixed, but still think Saturn should have fixed it for free. I think it should be a recall because they Saturn said the bolt was so hot that it broke off. Also the ignition switch started giving me problems now and the keys are ok, it's the ignition switch and there should be a recall on that to. Alot of people with 2006 Vue Saturns are having the exhaust problems and ignition problems. What could you people do for all of us. Please help, thank you.
The front passenger door on the vehicle does not latch and flew open while driving with my daughter in the passenger seat. This has occurred twice as of this date.
The contact owns a 2008 Saturn Vue. Whenever the contact opens the front passenger side door handle to enter the vehicle, the door handle will remain open. If you are unaware of the failure, the door could open while driving because it is not fully locked. The dealer stated that all of the vehicles of this model have the same issue. If they were to replace the part, it would be with another defective part, which would not remedy the failure. The contact believes that the manufacturer should issue a recall. The failure mileage was 200 and current mileage was 2,000. Updated 03/04/09. Updated 03/06/09.
This is a potential life safety issue on the vehicle. This is a new 2008 Saturn Vue rl (red line). After purchase I was reviewing manual on the autolocking door systems. It stated that system could be reprogrammed. The issue is that when vehicle is stopped and placed in park - all 4 doors are automatically unlocked. I wanted to changed this for safety results. First if you either drive up to an atm late at night or park your vehicle in a dark area - once you put vehicle into park - all door are unlocked. This give an opportunity for someone to enter into the vehicle and put you into a possible life safety situation. Another issue is that if you have young children in the vehicle and once again you stop and place the vehicle into park all doors are unlocked - the children can open the door(s) and jump into traffic or a dangerous situation. I have spoke to both the local dealer and Saturn's main customer service group. Their answer and response is that on the rl model - the autolocking sequence cannot be reprogrammed. It is something that I need to live with. They understand the life safety impact but do not have or plan to fix this situation.
I own a 2008 Saturn Vue and my door latches and handles have failed on numerous occasions. Passenger side handle sticks and can not be opened from either inside or outside. Passengers have had to crawl over the seats to exit. The driver side door latch and handle doesn't fully catch even though it appears to be in a locked position. This door has opened while I was driving. This car has been returned to the dealer service department on several occasions and they have failed to find out the cause. I was told to bring the car in as soon as the problem occurs. I did that last week and they finally diagnosed the problem. Faulty door handles. They informed me that gm has known about faulty door handles for some time even though I have had this problem for months and several trips to the service department. . New handles are not available at this time and they do not know when the handles will be available.
We bought a Saturn Vue in June of 2006. 2 months after we purchased the Vue we had to bring it in for exhaust and converter and oxidation replacement. Then 2 weeks later we had to have the ignition lock cylinders replaced we could not start our truck. Then in 07 we had the converter and manifold replaced. We were told that the manifold was torqued to much from the manufacture. Then June of this year same issue with the exhaust and converter again. Say the replaced a spring in the converter.
When it is either humid or rainy, driver's side door will not unlock from the inside. When I press the unlock button, it electronically switches between lock and unlock several times. The only way to get the door open is to hold it down the button in unlock mode, unroll the window and then I have to open it from the outside door handle. This has not been a safety issue yet, but I fear that it could become one if it gets any worse or if I ever had to get out of my car quickly. The local dealership has replaced the door latch twice, which has had no impact on resolving the issue and I will be returning to them tomorrow for a third trip to resolve this.
We a 2008 Saturn Vue on June 28, 2008. 4 months ago, I started being "shocked" when exiting/closing the drivers door on all occasions, this occasionally happens to passengers too. One can actually see the shock strike which leaves a dull aching pain in a finger on my left hand. We have tried seat covers, static guard, dryer sheets, but nothing solves or lessens the issue. Main concern is when fueling because it could very well cause an explosion or fire. We think there is some type of electrical short, but the service department dismissed our claim without checking and states that it is caused by the materials used in making the seats, issues still exists. For past 6 months, we've experienced a terrible vibration coming from and occurs when the sun roof is open. Service depart claims this is a normal occurrence with sun roofs, but it did not occur during the first 6 months of owning it. We tried riding with all windows down while the roof is open, still occurs. Outcome - we are unable to use the sun roof because it causes a very painful vibration in our eardrums, I was told by an ent our eardrums could be damaged with continuous use. Third issue occurred 2 months after purchasing. The passenger door handle sometimes "sticks" open. The door will shut, but we do not receive any sounds or light indication that this is occurring. It appears that even though the door seems to be shut, it is not latching. I was going around a curve and the door swung open, luckily there was no passenger sitting there. I presented our service depart with a printout about this issue from this website, they cannot duplicate the issue, therefore, they don't perceive there is an issue until it can be replicated or worse. Issues are starting to appear slowly, but are usually dismissed. Unfortunately, no one other than a Saturn dealer will work on a Saturn vehicle - too complicated. The other nearest Saturn dealer to us is about 100 miles away. Wished I would have known that. . .
The car is a 2008 Saturn Vue 4 cylinder automatic with two main safety problems. Problem one is the car will lock you out automatically with the keys in the ignition. Car can be running or shut off. This happened twice with my son in the car. This has happened about 14 times. Luckily I had the windows rolled down and was able to access the car. Saturn has repeated this problem on other Vue and deems it a "normal function" even though the owners manuals says there is a function in the car engineered into it to prevent you from locking your keys in the car accidentally. Again this happens automatically a minute or two after exiting the car. Problem two, transmission abruptly downshifts and accelerates on flat ground or slight grades while in cruise control. This also happens sometimes when cruise controls is disengaged as well. My wife almost lost control of the vehicle one due to this on a curving road going up hill. I almost hit a vehicle when this happened as well. Multiple dates of these problems happening. This is an intermittent problem and happens between 40 and 60 mph. The vehicle has been in the shop 47 days since it has been purchased.
In the past year, I have already had to repair the rear suspension twice, the front suspension, my back seat latch, and my rotors. My Vue is the worst vehicle I have ever purchased. When driving in any bad weather I have no traction and slip all over the road.

When the vehicle was shifted into park, the driver pulled the door handle to exit. The locking mechanism failed to release or disengage. Please provide further information.
