Power Steering Failed Problems of Saturn VUE

Tl the contact owns a 2008 Saturn Vue. While driving approximately 15 mph and attempting to make a turn, the power steering failed. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the steering column needed to be replaced. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was not repaired. Tl the contact owns a 2004 Saturn Vue. While the contact's daughter was driving the vehicle, the key fell out of the ignition. The failure occurred more than twice while driving. In addition, the steering wheel made an abnormal squeaky and rattling sound while being turned. Excessive force had to be used to turn the steering wheel. Also, the check engine indicator was illuminated. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, but the power steering and ignition failures were not diagnosed because they did not have the proper electric tools. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The failure mileage was 250,000.

I bought the car with 62,301 miles on it. At 90k miles, I'm on my way to work, and while driving around a curve I noticed a tug like feeling in my steering wheel. I thought I was imagining it. Besides of that little s curve, it's a strait shot to work. I needed gas, so I went to turn into the gas station and almost hit a truck parked there because I had no steering. I turned the wheel a full 360 and luckily managed a turn enough to miss the guys truck by inches (literally). In my complete embarrassment, I jump out apologizing and told him the issue. He stated he seen me cranking the wheel and figured as much and offered to check the steering fluid for me. Astound to find there was nothing to check. I took it to laclairs in chesaning mi, and this is what the repair order reads : power steeringquit while driving. And now steering binds and clunks and can barely turn, scanned system, but no codes stored, contacted tech assist center. . Unpowered steering assist motor then steering module. Condition no duplicated, replaced steering gear assembly and performed front and rear alignment as needed reset front and rear toe. $672. 33. I chose the remanufactured part hoping that what ever the problem was with the original would have been fixed before they could put it back on the shelf, now, at 131 k miles, only 42 k miles since that repair, the same issue has returned. Now, I have to once again pay to have it looked at, and once again pay for the repairs. I have seen several complaints from many different years from people with this same year with the same complaint and yet there has not been a recall made. I looked up the recall information when I first had this problem and like everyone else my VIN was not part of the recall, yet my car has the same issue. It's not just the power steering that failed, it was all the steering. A full 360 turn and only moved little inchs.

Power steering failed - went to dealership and they said it was not covered under warranty - 2008 Saturn Vue. I also own a 2009 Saturn outlook and just received a recall for the same thing in September of 2014. Not pleased with Saturn/gm.

When making a left turn, the power steering seemed to fail and it took a great deal of strength to complete the turn. I have also had this problem when making right turns. It happens at low speeds being that it happens when turning. This has happened many time. I see that there has been a recall on some vehicles but not mine for the same type of issue. I am afraid that I will loose control of my car. My service center, which is a Saturn authorized dealer mentioned a steering sensor, but I believe it is a power steering issue. They told me the repair would cost over $500.

Power steering failed while turning and vehicle headed into oncoming vehicle. Was able to brake and stop the vehicle before crash and steering came back after slowing down. Driver info center showed a power steering message but was unable to read it before it went away.

The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic where it was diagnosed that the electric power steering failed and needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 9,000.

The vehicle was taken to a dealer. The technician diagnosed that the steering rack and pump needed to be replaced. The vehicle had not been repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. I was pulling out of a parking lot (turning right) onto street. The power steering failed causing me to swing wide into middle lane instead of nearest lane to curb. Car traveling in middle lane had to brake and swerve to avoid hitting me. The power steering is failing intermittently on this car, especially in low speed situations.

The contact owns a 2009 Saturn Vue. The contact stated while driving no particular speed, the power steering failed and the steering wheel became hard to turn. The failure continued to occur intermittently over a four month period. The vehicle was repaired by the dealer; however, the failure continued to occur. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 87,000.

Power steering would cut in and out while driving. Check lights would come on. Let car sit a bit restart engine then would steer correctly but not for too long then steering would become very hard and check lights would come on again. A few days would pass without incident then it would fail to steer properly,(without power). Took in and mechanic found a code for electric power steering motor failure and also the torque sensor,( steering colum angle sensor) was bad. I read an artical sometime in 2013 that described my problem and it was being followed for a history but had not become a recall yet. Before wrinting this complaint form I reviewed my VIN # and still no recall :(.
