15 problems related to engine oil leaking have been reported for the 2007 Toyota Camry.
I have recently experienced a severe oil loss in my 2007 Toyota Camry with 97000 miles. I have always completed timely scheduled oil changes and never have had an issue until two weeks ago. The firestone dealer where I have my vehicle serviced determined I had a severe oil loss and can't locate where my oil leak is originating from. I have since learned Toyota has a service bulletin about this issue and the local Toyota service dealer has not returned my calls. In addition there was a class action lawsuit filed in spring 2014 for this issue with numerous Toyota models.
Started my car, noticed oil lamp came on then off. Proceeded to drive and oil lamp light flashed again. Oil light came on at least a total of 5 times. Came to traffic light, came to a soft stop to observe traffic before attempting to turn right. Car then shut off and all indicators were on, such as, battery, engine light, oil light, and air bag. I proceeded to restart car. No problem with restart, oil light never came on again. I took car to Toyota dealership service department to find out why vehicle shut down and due to fear! Toyota employee told me they would do a diagnostic on my vehicle free of charge to find cause of shut down. Please note, I did an oil change oct. 15, 2013 and Nov 18, 2013 car shut down! after arriving at a Toyota dealership to have my car checked to find out why it simply shut down, then all of a sudden there was no time to do a check to find out what caused my car to shut down without warning. The manager gave me a very simple reason as to why and what caused it to shut down. Manager told me I have an oil leak inside the engine of my car. Manager stated I didn't have to buy a new engine, but I needed to do a 100-500 oil dip stick check. Why was the dip stick down to nothing in the first place? why was there no oil in my car? technician never put oil in my car. Toyota is responsible for damage to engine as a result of their mishandling of vehicle and making false statements regarding me. Toyota is responsible for stress on of my Toyota 2007 Camry engine. My life and that of others at risk because of Toyota. .
Vvti oil line rupture 2007 Toyota Camry w/ v6 engine we purchased this new at a local Toyota dealer. My wife is the primary driver w/ myself as the only other occasional driver. The vehicle has received regular maintenance although not at the dealership where purchased. Vehicle, at time of incident (11-15-13), had 50,893 miles. When my wife returned home from shopping she saw a trail of oil up the driveway and into the garage. The oil trail appeared to begin down the street near our home. When we restarted the engine, oil gushed from the passenger side of the v-6 engine. I checked the oil level and it was about 1 1/2 - 2 quarts low. Our Toyota uses no oil between oil changes. Oil had sprayed all over the passenger side of the engine, the undercarriage, and some of the exhaust system. An internet search revealed a vvti oil line problem with certain Toyota vehicles w/ a v-6 engine. A short rubber section of external engine oil line would leak or rupture. Ours ruptured with-out any warning lights or alarms. The next morning we had it towed to the dealership where purchased and they repaired and verified that the problem was the vvti oil line. They told me that the repair was not covered by Toyota and we had to pay. I found out Toyota did have a lsc 90-k phase two campaign that did cover this but it had expired. We were unaware of the problem. I called and complained to 2 levels of Toyota then wrote the office of the president torrance, CA. But they all said letters were sent out and the campaign had expired March 31, 2013. The president's office did offer a limited refund for future parts or service at Toyota dealers. This problem still exists and Toyota should not have an expiration date for repairing this serious problem. This problem can cause fires and ruin engines. Fortunately we only lost a small amount of oil and that shouldn't have damaged our engine.
I bought this car at 78000 about 2 months after I noticed I had to put oil like once a month the car is not leaking oil. Now a year later I have to put a quart in and the car is not leaking oil and blowing any dark smoke. This is a problem.
I began noticing during my regular oil change maintenance at 3000-5000 miles, that closer to required oil change my oil light would engage during braking. I didn't think anything of it at first, but began noticing it at a consistent rate. When I had my oil changed at 90,000 miles the service person indicated I only had about 1 1/2 quarts removed from the car. I thought I had an oil leak of some sort, but I never have had any significant discharge from my oil pan, oil filter and so forth in my driveway. I went to my son who is a mechanic, and he said he saw little sign of any leakage, and I must be burning it. So he suggested I get online, and look for similar incidents, and now I see 2007 is a popular year for this type of issue. I have yet to bring it to a dealers attention, and see no re-call or manufacturers problem advertised by Toyota.
I was driving the car as usual and noticed red engine oil light came on when I brake for a traffic light. Checked the oil level when I got home and realized there was no oil on the dip stick at all! I ended up putting in about 2 qts of oil to return it to an acceptable level. After researching for the problem, I found out there was a service bulletin for exactly the same problem and basically the engine needed to be rebuilt in order to fix the problem. Seems like Toyota hasn't been honest about their products potential problems lately. Please pressure Toyota to issue a recall for this problem. Otherwise I will never buy any Toyota product again. At the same time, I recalled my dealership, where I purchased the maintenance package from, had previously suggested that oil pan could have been leaking oil. I went under the car, and there was no sign of leakage at all! the dealership always knew about the service bulletin and was trying to misguide me!.

In addition, the vehicle was leaking engine oil. The vehicle was repaired. The engine oil ring and the front axle were replaced. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure. 2,000 miles after an oil change I noticed that my oil light would come on sporadically. I checked the oil and it was three quarts low. The car only hold four quarts of oil, so this was especially concerning. A mechanic checked out my car and said that there were no leaks, everything was still factory sealed, and he didn't know why it was consuming so much oil. I had an oil change 1000 miles later, and 2000 miles after that I was low on oil again! according to things I've read, this car consumes roughly 1 quart of oil every 1,200 miles it is driven. This should be fixed by Toyota.
I have been having problems out of my 2007 Camry for over about a year and a half now. Probably after 2-3 months of getting my oil changed, I have having to put more oil in it between oil changings. I have been to 2 different dealerships and an automachanic shop in which no one has seen any oil leaks. What I have noticed when my oil light comes on, it is harder for me to stop my vechile. When I check my oil, it's almost nothing in there. I have seen other complaints related to this and this may be something that Toyota need to look in to immediately. I did not have this problem with my 05 Camry and if there is no oil leak, there shouldn't be a reason I have to put oil in my car in between oil changings!.
I noticed when applying sudden brakes low engine oil light came on but it went away when brakes were released. I thought it may be time for oil change and got oil change done shortly. That problem didn't came back till few months later. I had my oil change done from the dealer and the service was not due yet so I went to the nearby auto shop and they told me it didn't show any oil in the dipstick so they did the oil change and filled it up(no visible problem noticed). I thought I will get it inspected with the dealer on my next visit. Next time when I went to dealer I mentioned it and they were too busy to check that but they did visual inspection and didn't see any problem or leaks. Again after same issue they told me to come after 1200 miles after oil change but they didn't find any problem. I had to carry the oil with me just in case as the nearby auto place told me it was abnormal. I had to top it up again shortly as the dip stick showed no oil. I complained to the dealer again and they told me to come back after 2500 miles and they sealed the knob with silicon or something so it cannot be tampered with and they told me to come on weekday so they can talk to the Toyota engineer. When I returned they tested it and found normal consumption and no problem found. I am still facing that problem and I called Toyota hotline and they told me that they would go by the dealers opinion on that and there was no known problem on the vehicle. When I read these posts on this website then it definitely seems like a problem and now my vehicle is not under warranty either . My engine is still fine, only problem is I have to change oil too frequently. If something happens to engine in future I definitely hope Toyota will cover it since they haven't identified any problem on my engine after so many visits.
At the speed of less than aprox 15-20 miles on a turn, car spun off and lost control. Caused wheels to crash into curb, and severely damaged. Noticed oil on the tire surface. Moved car out of toad way. Car spilled lot of oil. The Toyota dealer assessed, and told us that the oil hose (vvt-I) has ruptured, causing oil leak. Toyota later informed that there is a so called "limited campaign" to replace these hoses. They are denying that the oil leak was the cause of accident. They have not done any thorough investigation. The written response from does not even satisfactorily explain their reasoning for denying claim.
The vvt-I line from bank 1 failed and oil leaked all over my driveway. The car was 4. 3 quarts low. No specific action took place to cause this other than a defective part/design from Toyota. The "fix" was a replacement pipe sub assembly (p/n 15707-31030). Apparently there is a metal replacement assembly but they put another rubber pipe into my car. Let's hope it doesn't have again and actually cause some damage.
2007 Toyota Camry with 2gr-fe v-6 engine had a failed vvti pressure pipe assy. Major oil leak developed which caused a loss of engine oil. No warning lights came on. Dealer replaced with the same part number 15707-31030 with the rubber connection instead of the updated all metal part number 15772-31030. I had 56335 miles on the vehicle so it was under warranty but now I am concerned about this event occurring again after another 56000 miles. I went on the internet and now realize that this problem exist on many of the Toyota vehicles with this type engine. I feel there should be a recall issued by Toyota before someone gets hurt. (fire, broke down on the side of road and another vehicle crashes into you etc. ).
I purchased my car in 2007 as a mark down because it had been returned by a business but the oil leak problem was not fixed before I bought it nor was I told of the problem. Soon after I bought it I noticed that the oil was low but I couldn't find where the oil was leaking from. There was no black smoke so I took it to the dealer. Over and over again I took the car in and complained about the missing oil. One of the things they told me was that they never put the required amount in but always put in from one half to a full quart low. I never missed scheduled maintenance and each time I told them about the oil problem but they never fixed it. Instead they always offered me some excuse. The warranty is now expired but the problem has been continuous from the beginning of the warranty. I believe the car should be covered under the lemon law. I was taken advantage of because I am a woman. I need you help because I am at wits end and I don't think I should have to be worried all the time and always have to carry spare oil in my trunk.
