Toyota has replaced the computer, fuel injectors, fuel pump, fuel regulator, spark plugs, cleaned the engine. . . . . No good. Car is defective and they refuse to replace. This issue happened on May. 20, 2001.

1999 Toyota Camry - for no apparent reason started on fire as I was driving on the highway - pedal felt like it collasped and fire appeared instantly giving smoke straight at driver & passengers barely making the right side of the highway before completely totalling car. It was Aug. 21, 2002 when this fuel pump issue occurred.

The contact took the vehicle to a mechanic ,where he determined that the 90 degree fuel line cracked, which caused the fuel to leak over the outside of the tank. The contact had the fuel line replaced, but the manufacturer felt that this was not a safety problem and charged the contact for the repairs. The fule pump was replaced. Updated 01/25/07. This caused the vehicle to be consumed by fire. The vehicle was totally destroyed but no one was injured by the incident. The manufacturer nor the dealer have been notified of the problem. It was 09/09/03 when this fuel pump issue occurred.
