1 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2015 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 06/12/2015

Was driving along with traffic and I heard a loud noise, the engine rpms jumped and there was a massive loss in speed and power. The transmission was stuck in 1st gear. Pulled over as soon as was safe. I was concerned an accident could have occurred due to the sudden loss in power and speed with no fault to the driver, myself. The dash showed "error: transmission. Reverse not possible. " the vehicle was towed to a local dealer for evaluation.

2 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2007 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 08/01/2010

My car, an automatic dsg transmission from vw, got stuck in 6th gear on northbound 1-15, almost causing several accidents. The check engine light appeared and a code was "thrown," but the event was dismissed as a potential issue with the mass airflow sensor. Since then, I have experienced extremely hard shifts and unreliable acceleration with my vehicle. Especially on hills. The mechatronics unit has been replaced and the car was returned to me as "good to go. " I drove the car one mile, the issue persisted, and I returned it to the dealer. There is clearly a problem with the mechatronics unit and the clutches, but the dealer will not replace them correctly (under warranty). Each time I am told my car is "fixed," I pick it up, drive it and it still has the shifting issues.

3 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2010 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 03/15/2010

Dsg automatic trans has given me several minor but one scary problem since having vehicle less than one year. On any colder morning 50 degrees or below the vehcile will dramatically leap forward upon acceleration. Its as if it doesnt seem to shift properly then starts working better after it warms up. This March I experienced a much scarier situation. I was drivng close to home when somebody pulled out in front of me I was able to stop in time but the car acted very strange after I started moving again. The only was to describe it is that the car was stuck in first gear for a block or so the engine was reving very high and car wouldnt go very fast at all. After a block or so in finally started working correctly. I have had it to the dealer twice now once for 60 day and also the 10k service. Vw has stated that there werer no codes in the computer so therefore there was no problem. I know there were no codes in the computer all codes are registered on the vehicle computer display. Vw needs to admit they have a problem and fix this situation. If you read this and have similar problems please take the time to fill this out so vw is held accountable for the problems on all dsg transmissions that a lot of people seem to be experiencing.

5 Transmission Stuck In Gear problem of the 2003 Volkswagen GTI

Failure Date: 06/08/2004

The clutch slowly started to slip when trying to move forward eventually the engine would rev at very high rpms with very little forward movement in the car. After much reading, this seems to be a very common problem. My car only had 26,000 miles on it. It is a daily commuter driven mostly on the freeway which should mean very little clutch wear. I took it to a shop to replace it with a more "sturdy" clutch made of ceramic since it was out of warranty already. Approximately 8 months after the clutch was replaced the suddenly stuck in first gear and would not shift out. After taking it to the dealer again, they determined it was most likely the transmission, once they pulled it apart they said the clutch was bad again. This leads me to believe the design of the car is causing these problems, not my driving or normal "wear and tear".
