1 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/08/2021

Car has 65k on it and has been acting up for at least 10k miles on the following items: 1. The airbag indicator light on dash went on for no reason and I had to pay a diagnostic fee for it to be reset. 2. The radio links to my phone only 50% of the time with a failure notice posted on the monitor. The bluetooth will still work but to connect with my cord to also charge, very inconsistent. 3. The tire dash light is constantly illuminated despite having the tires and monitors checked several times. 4. The back up warning indicator has recently stopped alerting me and I came within inches of backing into a car today. I would like my dash to be error message free and my radio reliably working via my phone cord. I have tried different cords, purchased new tires and monitors, and the same issues continually occur. This all occurs when the vehicle is powered on, does not matter if it is parked or being driven.

2 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/01/2021

The airbag light for the passenger seat indicates that a passenger is not there when there is. It will start blinking randomly, sometimes registering them and sometimes not. This happens while driving or while stationary.

3 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 12/13/2020

When starting my 2012 vw Jetta, the abs light, brake light, passenger air bag light come on on the dashboard along with a long beeping sound. The sound eventually stops but the lights stay on. Vehicle is trying to run through diagnostics upon starting (vehicle is stationary but lights remain on while driving) when these lights come on. The brakes on the vehicle are fine and do not need to be serviced per mechanic and vw. Personal mechanic along with authorized vw service pulled the following codes: 01130 abs operation not a plausible signal, 01317 control module, 01285 cluster, 01486 system function test failure. Vehicle mileage is approximately 63k. Abs module failure has been a known issue with these vehicles and there are tbs's and technical tips for troubleshooting as well as a recall for 2009-2010 Jetta's. Properly maintained vehicles should not require abs module replacements at 63k miles. Was also told that by authorized vw service that this vehicle also has a leaky vacuum pump. Total cost of repairs: $2,636 for replacement of abs module plus tax and $1,036 plus tax for replacement of the vacuum pump. Neither of these parts should need to be replaced on this 2012 vw Jetta with 63k miles. This is absurd. There should be a recall on these parts because, especially with the abs module, they are clearly defective. You will find many consumer complaints about the abs module on the web for this vehicle.

5 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/18/2020

The driver's side window stopped working. The problem was traced back to a faulty wiring harness in the door hinge. This is a very common vw issue, and many other online complaints reference a wire harness that is too short. I repaired the severed wires with butt connectors. After the repair was completed, the airbag light came on. I inspected the whole airbag system (connectors, wiring, fuses, etc. ) to no avail. The airbag light is still illuminated on the dashboard. Again, others have complained of this same issue when fixing a vw's window (I. E. , fix the window and the airbag light illuminates). The two issues should not be connected, and this is a major safety concern for me.

6 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 06/01/2020

The key is getting stuck and can not be removed. Can not turn vehicle on or off because the key will not turn. The vehicle was stationary on a city street. The other problem is that the airbag light is continually on.

7 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2017 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/28/2020

I just bought a used 2017 Volkswagen Jetta gli a month ago, and the airbag light just illuminated this past Friday, along with no steering wheel controls working, and no horn. I called the place where I purchased it from, and they pretty much said OH well. This is a safety concern, as it affects the airbag. Is there anything I can do?.

8 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 02/11/2020

Over a period of time with readjusting the driver's seat, it has disconnected or compromised the airbag wiring requiring a diagnostic test to confirm as well as removing the entire seat to clear the airbag light. Without doing so they may not properly disengage.

10 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2019 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/15/2019

The passenger side airbag light intermittently lights up. Sometimes immediately when starting the car, other times while driving and sometimes everything works fine. At times when the light is on during startup it stays on for quite a while (many miles) it may then go off or not. Also, when the passenger seat occupant moves on the seat the light may or may not go off. I took the car to a vw dealer who could not find anything wrong and told me "well, the seabelt works, doesn't it?".

My airbag light came on. Vehicle has never been hit or in any accident. Now the steering wheel controls no longer work.

12 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/06/2019

I started up my car and was driving from work, all of a sudden I see a bunch of my warnings light appear on the dashboard all at the same time. I was driving in alexandria city and the care was in motion when the lights appeared. The tire pressure light, traction control, abs, and even the air bag light. 3 different system have faults is a concern to my safety. I went to a mechanic twice and then the dealership, found out that the rear abs sensor needs to be changed to get rid of abs and traction control. After that was part was changed and the fault code was cleared the traction control and tire pressure still remained. Air bag light code was cleared too. After a month driving all of those same light reappeared again after I started up my car, I was stationary when the lights reappeared and was about to drive in city. The lights did not go away after driving. A big job needs to be done in which this is an manufacturer error which vw needs to take care of. I've spent close to $1100 of part and labor and this problem still remains. I am concerned for my safety if the electronic system might caused my air bags to deploy or traction control may not assist me while driving. The first incident occurred late July and the second occurred September 6.

13 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2011 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 09/01/2019

Tl the contact owns a 2011 Volkswagen Jetta. While driving at an unknown speed, the abs, traction control, brake, and air bag warning indicators illuminated. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic to be diagnosed, but the mechanic was unable to retrieve a fault code. The mechanic, however, informed the contact that the failure may be due to the abs control module. The vehicle was not repaired. The dealer and manufacturer were not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 88,000.

14 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2012 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

My airbag light came on a couple months ago. I don't have the money to fix it and the closest vw dealership is about 80miles from here. I don't know if this could be a recall defect or was it something that I did. I do have a child and I don't want anything to happen. I don't go out of town as it is due to my tires losing air and the airbag light being on.

15 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/15/2019

Airbag light went on about two months ago. I know that many vws, including 2010 Jettas like mine, were subject to recall for clock spring. I believe my car should be included in that recall and this should be fixed free of charge by vw. Called dealership and they said it's not and that I'd have to pay the $125 diagnostic fee to have it checked out. Have read many stories of how you are receiving my complaints from vw owners about this problem. Recall needs to be expanded. Light is on all the time. Called vw customer care and they could not have been less helpful. Called yesterday and asked to speak with a supervisor. They said there no supervisor would be available until the following afternoon. Please expedite I'm very concerned about my safety and driving this vehicle. Have been loyal vw customer since 1998 but given this experience and the company's recent ethical malfeasance, am not surprised the company is struggling to stay afloat.

16 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 07/13/2019

Recall -engine and engine cooling I have a 07 Jetta 2. 0l. 2 months ago I noticed a gas smell when I took my oil cap off I noticed there was a lot of steam/smoke & I could tell that's where the smell was coming from. There was nothing visible other than the steam/gas vapor. The coolant level never moves. I was only getting 15 miles to the gallon because it was leaking into my engine. On 7/13/19 the engine seized (locked) up while I was driving it. I was driving my wife to work with our 5 year old son. I had just turned on the street of her work going 10 miles an hour & it felt like my car just died. I couldn't even get the engine to turn over. I had to get my vehicle towed to a repair shop. Which is when I found out that the engine seized. I have absolutely no transportation now. (recall faulty air bags my car is miles away at the repair shop, so I can't take a picture of the air bag light but it turned on about a week ago and hasn't shut off. My concern is that this is something that a repair shop can not fix/ its going to be so expensive that I can't afford to fix it. It has faulty air bags that can just go off while I'm driving! safety bags are a must have & it is illegal to sell/produce any non safe vehicle! I seen that Volkswagen company made a hand full of recalls on this vehicle over the last 8 years. The previous owner kept the car in a garage & started it daily he just never checked for recalls. Parts on this car are compatible with the 06-09 Jettas& sportwagons & he had replaced parts. I'm unsure which ones were replaced. My vehicle falls under the category of a vw Jetta sedan. I'm having all of the same recall issues that the Jetta is recalling for. & the horn does not work when it's parked. Your company posted the recalls for all of the same problems that I'm having with this vehicle! recall no. 40j2/s4. Recall no. 20i4/u1. recall no. Q8. .

Failure Date: 04/18/2019

21 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2006 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 04/12/2019

April 12, 2019 airbag light appeared. I took the car to the service center of the Volkswagen dealership car was purchased at. After diagnosis the driver's side seat belt tested faulty which could be rendering the airbag inoperable. The parts needed to be ordered in order to repair it at a second appointment. Concerning that the dealerships don't carry parts that could affect the safety features of the Jetta in the event of an accident. This Jetta has never had the airbags deploy or any issues with the seat belts until now.

Takata recall, air bag light came on randomly and will not go away.

25 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 11/12/2018

Driver airbag light illuminated on dashboard while car was in motion on highway in pouring rain weather. Car horn is also currently not working/able to be used in event of emergency or warning. Airbag light would come on for about 6 seconds and then go off repeatedly then finally stayed on for good. Appears to be a clock spring issue from research that may not have been initially covered and completed in 2015 manufacturer recall. VIN is also not included in current takata airbag recall either. . . . No previous issues to note prior to symptoms beginning. . .

26 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2010 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 08/07/2018

We purchased this car two days ago for our 18 yo daughter and I did not notice the airbag light on. It was when she pulled into the driveway and tried to honk the horn that our attention was drawn to the light. It is at the dealer today having the clock spring repaired and costing $450. 00. As I began to research the problem, I became aware that in 2015 vw had a recall on the clock spring of the cc and passat. I asked the dealer if this car would be covered under the recall and he said the Jetta was not under any recall. My reply, "hmmm, I guess it's just a coincidence. " I had read that there was an investigation into the recall failing and that possibly there would be an expansion of the vw's being recalled for this issue which does include the Jetta 2010-2014. The dealer told me if that did happen, I would be able to get all of the expense reimbursed. It is infuriating to me that there is a known failure of the clock spring in vw's and the company is not being responsible about it. My daughter would not be safe with a car that has a failing air bag. It is morally unconscionable.

34 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/11/2018

Takata recall. I have a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta gli edition 30 w/navigation. My airbag light came on while I was driving that's right in motion. The same day my steering wheel started clicking when I turned it to the left one day. I went to use my horn and it wouldn't work. Then noticed all of my all the buttons on my steering wheel were not working either. The steering wheel buttons are the controls for the navigation settings, time, phone. There isn't a way to change setting using the console buttons. The steering wheel controls are the hub of setting controls. I can not use my horn for anything. 18 wheelers swaying, someone not paying attention I can not use my horn for any of these reasons. Every time I get in my car I am without an airbag. I went online to do some research. I found a recall for the 2014 Jetta I printed out the recall # and took it to the dealership and said this recall and the clicking on my steering wheel match. Can you fix this here? the representative then told me that he was sorry the recall did not include the gli 30 year anniversary edition Jetta. The shop would not order the part without a diagnostic which cost me $120. 88. Once the diagnostic was complete I received a call "MA'am you are correct the clock spring is what needs to be replaced and the part is $290. 07 and labor $316. 88 with tax a total of $682. 33 even though everything matched the recall. Because this recall isn't expanded and doesn't include the correct cars. I have had to pay $803. 21. I am out safely driving with a airbag or the safety of a horn. This recall does not include all cars affected.

35 Air Bag Light On problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Jetta

Failure Date: 01/08/2018

Took car in for recall at Volkswagen dealership. They "forgot" to do recall on airbag. Next time they performed recall but steering wheel is clicking, horn does not work, none of the steering wheel buttons function and airbag light remains on. Took car for an expensive engine repair and I told them the recall was not completed as the recall should have been and they told me the other Volkswagen marked it as complete and it would cost me $2000 because airbag has been ripped out and disconnected. So I have no horn, no steering wheel function keys, a steering wheel that clicks when a hard turn is made and a ripped, disconnected non-functioning airbag.
