1 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2014 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 02/01/2024

Complaint against Volkswagen and 2 employees. Kaitlin r. At customer care advocate and mr walsh previous manager at the Volkswagen in pompano for the last three months, these two employees have been dragging this situation for me to bring my car for the excessive oil consumption issue in no providing a loaner. This complaint will be submitted in several government agencies. These two employees are irresponsible and kept telling me they will reach back to me and now one of them doesn’t even work there anymore and the other one does not respond. I will forward this complaint to members of the board of director and maybe including the ceo just to show what employees are doing and how they treating customers. My vehicle is supposed to be inspected due to the excessive oil consumption issue. I need a loaner or my car is being inspected and I need that ASAP. I’ve been waiting over three months now. Just look at the attachments to see the communication with those two employees Volkswagen is a joke of a company if this employees represent your company.

4 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2013 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 12/18/2019

Since I bought the car I've always had issues with the oil consumption. I was told it was normal to loose up to 8 courts of oil in-between my oil changes. The dealership told me this!! the car has been very well taken care of, I get oil changes every couple thousand miles instead of every 10,000 like vw recommends. If I did this my engine would quiet literally blow up. I've been told repeatedly by multiple foreign repair shops (non vw dealership) that this is a common issue with this motor but for whatever reason the 2013 cc models were not recalled. By the sounds of it's a repair that vw refuses to acknowledge or fix. I'm upside down on the loan & have been told I basically need a whole new engine. Now, every time I refuel I have to add a quart of oil otherwise my check engine light comes on or I receive a check oil pressure. Engine off message. I might be a female but I'm not that stupid to know that this isn't normal! this is a constant issue!.

6 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2015 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 02/18/2019

Oil consumption. The car now has about 122,000 miles in it but at about 1000,000 miles the car was down 1& 1/2 quarts of oil within 5000 miles since then it has gotten worse. Ian now adding a quart of oil at 3,000 miles and the oil light is coming on. I have only ever brought the car to vw for all service including oil changes on regular schedule according to dealer.

8 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2009 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 05/12/2018

Began to drive vehicle yesterday to fuel up. "oil consumption: stop engine" warning message came on. Went off after a few seconds and then came back on and wouldn't go off. Drove 6 blocks back home. Did not feel it was safe to drive car any further. Vw dealer does not know why that warning message came on. They don't know what to do or what to fix. They said fuel pump recall may fix the problem. That recall is now 10 months old with no sign of parts being ready.

9 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/07/2010

I purchased this vehicle used at 42k miles in may 2010. The vw dealership had changed oil at the time of my purchase. Almost exactly 4 weeks later I checked my oil and none registered on the dipstick. It required an entire quart of oil to bring back to acceptable fill level. Calling vw they stated this was not enough oil to even constitute an oil test. They stated that this fsi motor can burn up to 1 quart of oil every 1200 miles and will still be within the mfr acceptable limits. This means in this 2. 0t 4 cyl motor it can burn over 6 quarts of oil between oil changes, which is more than it can hold. A quart of full synthetic oil castrol brand as required is over $9, this is not cost effective and infuriating. I will not purchase another vw because of this experience and recommend anyone else not to as well. Vw offered no options repairs or fixes and I foot the expensive oil habit. Who buys a car that knowingly burns and breaks down full synthetic oil?.

10 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 06/15/2010

Owned the car for 9 months, and have had documented problems for 8 months including a complete failure that required towing. The primary problems are: 1. Steering column warning light on - the comfort module and steering electronics were replaced 7 weeks after purchasing the car 2. Ongoing intermittent problems starting the car. The car died on 6/15/10, was towed, and the ignition coil was replaced. Current: car did not start on first attempt on 7/4/10, which is less than 3 weeks later! 3. Car burns excessive oil. Need to add oil between scheduled oil changes. In April 2010, oil pressure light came on. Dealer added 2 qts of oil and tank was still not full. Still had 1,000 miles to go before next scheduled oil change. Have had oil added on two other occasions between oil changes. 4. Car is sluggish, especially when going up hills. No response or resolution for this, but the car has a turbo engine note: this car has only been serviced by vw dealerships.

11 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 05/11/2010

Vw Passat 2008, low oil light come on before schedule oil change frequently. The car burns oil because of the turbo engine. And the emission system has a valve failure too.

12 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2008 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 10/20/2009

My '08 Passat with a 2. 0 t engine burns through a great deal of oil. About 1/2 liter per 1,000 miles. It is a new car (now 28,000 miles) and should not burn oil! vw states this oil consumption is normal, but I disagree. I lease the car and have had all maintenance done at the dealer. I must frequently add oil to the engine and have brought it in to be serviced for this oil consumption issue several times. From research done online, this is not a problem unique to me. Please help!.

13 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2007 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 01/20/2009

Vehicle low oil pressure alarm came& stop engine alarm, I stopped vehicle, no oil on dipstick, I put in 4 qts, oil, still not full, took to dealer, they said it needs piston rings, I asked about the turbo & internal parts possibly damaged due to oil starvation, they will only replace rings, if anything else fails after the repairs they will repair it as long as it is still under factory warranty, the vehicle has approx 13000 miles, I requested a new engine since the vehicle is new, no help from customer service or dealer, I am afraid I will have to replace the engine after the warranty expires due to some internal parts premature wear due to the oil consumption which was confirmed by vw dealer, approx 1. 9 quarts in 662 miles.

14 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 2003 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 07/25/2007

I own a 2003 vw Passat v6 awd that currently has ~37000 miles on the odometer. This car uses an excessive amount of oil ever since I bought it new in 2003. The last estimate of oil consumption (July 25, 2007), was ~0. 75 quart per 600 miles, which is what the dealer and vw have said is within the factory specification of 1 quart per 1000 miles. However, neither the dealer nor vw will provide me with written evidence or bulletins describing these specifications. In my opinion, this is excessive oil consumption, which reflects an underlying defect in the design/function of vw engines. Apparently, I am not the only one with this complaint as several of the bulletin boards and internet discussion groups have similar postings. This oil consumption problem may also be related to the accumulation of "engine sludge," which apparently led vw to extend the warranty on certain models. I do not know whether this type of problem falls within the purview of the nhsta, but I am filing this as a complaint and requesting further investigation.

15 Engine Burning Oil problem of the 1999 Volkswagen Passat

Failure Date: 03/01/2006

1999 vw Passat oil consumption - 1 qt. Every 750 miles. Dealer has replaced seals, tests and is now planning further seal replacement. I know this won't get fixed; this seems to be a design flaw where many other consumers are also "suffering". Will the federal government demand a recall???????.
