Volvo XC60 owners have reported 98 problems for their cars built in the 7 model years listed in the chart below. The chart shows the number of problems reported during all service years for each model year of Volvo XC60. The 2010 Volvo XC60 cars have the most problems reported (31 problems).
The following chart shows the 17 most common problems for Volvo XC60 cars. The number one most common problem is related to the vehicle's equipment (28 problems). The second most common problem is related to the vehicle's electrical system (11 problems).
|Problem Category||Number of Problems|
Engine And Engine Cooling
Vehicle Speed Control
Gasoline Fuel System
Other Fuel System

It would not be fair to compare the older model year Volvo XC60 to a new one in terms of the problems reported since older vehicles have been in service longer and more problems should be reported. In order to compare the reliability across XC60 model years, we use the PPMY index which is defined as the problems reported per thousand vehicles per Year. A smaller PPMY index implies a better reliability for the model year under study.
PPMY = P / S / Y * 1000
Where P = total problems reported during the life of a Volvo XC60 model year; S = total units sold of the model year; Y = years since the debut of the model year (the age of the vehicle).
The result is shown in Table 3.
