The contact owns a 2017 Acura Ilx. The contact stated that while driving at an undisclosed speed, the brake pedal was depressed, and there was an abnormal sound coming from the vehicle. No warning lights were illuminated. The vehicle was taken to the dealer, where the contact was informed that parts were not available for the repair. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 25v859000 (service brakes, hydraulic). The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was unknown.
I received notice of this brake master cylinder recall on 12/20/25 and tried to schedule it at my local dealership (1/5/26) edmonds, wa. They told me they could not perform the recall because they did not have the parts. I was in the dealership on 1/10/26 and they told me they would check into it. Today I received a vm saying they would not perform the recall because the brake booster has not yet failed. This seems like a safety issue - am I supposed to have an accident in order to get this resolved?.
When coming to a stop at a red light, the car continued to roll forward. At this time, I stepped on the brake with added pressure but the car continued to roll. Then I shifted the car into park but that did not stop the vehicle and it rolled into a truck in front at less than 5 mph. The dealership states they cannot duplicate the incident and found no errors while conducting their inspections.
