I was driving in the left lane of a divided highway, using the adaptive cruise control while passing another vehicle in the right lane. The collision warning light came on, and the brakes were automatically applied. The road was straight, and the car I was passing was the only car ahead of me. I believe I was almost hit by the car tailgating me at the time.
Approaching overhead signs with acc engaged activates the emergency breaking. The digital cluster indicates the presence of a vehicle directly ahead and responds to avoid a possible collision.
