I have a 2005 Acura Mdx 140k miles. I have had transmission problems for the past year or so. Yesterday I was drving on the freeway in southern California when the transmission strated slipping. I would press on the gass and there would be hesitation. Seemed to have a mind of it's own. Rpm's would go up but the car would keep speed. Had to get it towed from orange county to san diego.
Had trouble with gear schifting very stiff. Brought to dealer in 06/11 ,dealer just greased the cable, brought back in sept. 2011,told salt from roads caused it and would need new cable. Brought car to another Acura dealer they said cable and lever arm need to be replaced because it was a design flaw the company has since corrected the problem. I had problem a few years earlier but did not think much about it until my wife used my car and had great difficulty and almost had an accident due to the gear schifting. I called Acura (case number b012011-09-2700014) jonathan a Acura representative only was giving me approximately 150. 00 off from 450. 00. I told him it was insufficient amount and said I would report it tonhtsa. He said if I did, he would withdraw the offer. He in essence blacked mailed me not to report the problem.
