Upon startup the following warning lights come on and remain active: brake system problem, power steering problem, hill start assist problem, vehicle stability assist (vsa) problem, anti-lock break system problem. Additionally, intermittingly a loud grinding noise can be heard from the button of the vehicle.

2 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/01/2023

Abs vsa malfunction light comes up constantly and car rattles when brakes are used. It’s constantly turned on even with good road conditions. There are millions of customer complaints on the web about this issue and I believe this should be logged as a major issue which should be logged a recall and offered as a fix to customers who have these car models and issues. My daughter was driving the car and experienced issues on freeway when braking. The car slipped to the side when brakes were pushed and the whole car was shaking and unstable.

3 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/28/2017

I am 27 years old female that was in a car accident with my boyfriend and his mom. My boyfriends mom was the driver, I was the front seat passenger and my boyfriend was in the back seat. Both my boyfriends mom and I were wearing our seatbelts. After hanging out for the day my boyfriends mom was dropping us off at home and that was when it happened. As she was backing up out of the driveway, the accelerator must have gotten stuck because the car flew across the driveway down a hill over a basketball court and directly into a tree! thinks the vehicle was going 30-40 mph and both front airbags deployed. After the accident I had been injured and after going to the hospital and having x-rays done, the doctors have said I have a fracture (l2) to my spine. Thank god no surgery was needed although it really sucks to have a compressed vertebra now! the accident happened on June 28, 2017 and since the accident I have been wearing a lumbar brace in order to help support my spine/back.

4 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 07/18/2016

When driving down a long, downhill slope the steering wheel and the rest of the car started shaking when the brake is applied. From a scale of 0 to 10 I would give it a 6 or more for the shaking. It is pretty bad. The exact same symptoms occurred to my 2009 Honda accord. At that time I just barely owned it for less than a year for my accord.

5 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/05/2016

The vehicle start shaking violently when braking at high speeds or with emergency braking. Braking efficiency may be suffering as well. The dealer refused to cover the repair under new vehicle warranty. I paid for the front rotors to be resurfanced at 38000 miles but the problem is back at 45000 miles. The dealer is performing the same repair but concern is that this will keep happening. This a major safety issue.

6 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 08/27/2015

Our 2014 Acura Mdx's brake rotors had to be resurfaced after only 13,000 miles. The mechanic at the dealer noted that they have seen many similar cases with the new Mdx because it's so heavy. This sounds like a design problem relating to a crucial part of the vehicle. We are not aggressive drivers, nor do we live in an area with lots of stops.

7 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/20/2015

Unintentional acceleration and failure of collision mitigation system 2014 Acura Mdx advanced. Accident occurred at a strip mall parking lot located 1 mile from my residence where I was grocery shopping. Weather 65 f sunny. Heavy pedestrian and vehicular traffic. I was parked head in diagonally. I placed my right foot on the brake pedal, placed the SUV in reverse, lifted my right foot from the brake pedal, depressed the accelerator pedal and slowly backed out of the parking space, straightening the wheels in the process. I placed my right foot on the brake, shifted to drive, and placed my right foot on the accelerator pedal and without actually depressing the pedal the engin reved uncontrollably and the SUV surged forward 100 ft at increasing speed before colliding in a domino fashion with a row of 6 vehicles pushing one of the vehicles over one of the adjacent vehicles before veering off to the side and traveling an additional 200 feet before coming to a stop. The drivers side chest and knee bags deployed when I impacted with the first vehicle. I do not remember if I attempted to brake. There were no injuries. The damages to my SUV were extensive. My insurer declared it a total loss. I have photos taken at the scene of the accident showing skid marks and the damages to the vehicles before they were moved. My insurer had my vehicle examined by an automotive technician. He concluded that I simultaneously stepped on the brake and accelerator because of the pedal ware pattern. Also the diagnostic port did not show an error code. He did not examine the event data recorder (black box). I do not agree with his conclusions. I believe I did not step on the pedals simultaneously. In retrospect I believe that I accidentally engaged one of the cruise control buttons located on the steering wheel when I was backing up and straightening the wheels.

8 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 04/20/2015

I got into a parking space, and pushed the brake but the car jumped on to the sidewalk. I removed my foot from the brake and then the car started speeding up. The car crushed through the window of an empty store. I tried to push the brake even harder but it did not work. The car finally stopped when it hit the wall inside the store. I was in a shock. Luckily nobody was injured. I found several similar complaints on the internet but could not find a recall for a similar issue. One of the previous claims states: "Acura is claiming that no problem can be found with our vehicle. " this is an extremely serious safety concern and could result in fatalities. Is there anything else I need to do in order this issue to be investigated seriously?.

9 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/10/2015

Our Mdx experienced a large amount of brake shimmy going down a hill that almost caused the vehicle to lose control. We were very concerned about the ability of the vehicle to stop. When we took it to the dealer, they said the brakes rotors warped from overheating. Overheating should not occur during normal use, especially when the vehicle is rated for towing up to 5,000 pounds.

10 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 11/26/2014

The car has periodically shown an alert indicating an imminent activation of the automatic braking safety system when nothing has been in front of the car. Today, it did it this morning, and then later in the morning, while driving 30 mph, the car cut off, making it inoperable and it stopped in a travel lane of a busy road. We were able to re-start it long enough to navigate off the road to a safe location, and it promptly cut off again. After that, it wouldn't run for more than 30 seconds. Every warning imaginable (power steering problem, lane keep assist problem, emission system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem) was displaying on the information panel in sequential order. We had the vehicle towed to an Acura dealership for inspection/repair.

11 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 06/27/2014

Almost one month ago I bought 2014 Acura Mdx, my first luxury vehicle, coming out of Nissan vehicle, thought I would have a enjoy the ride, it only last for one month only with around 1065 miles on the odo-meter. All of sudden while driving, brakes stop responding, and all sort of messages (low brake fluid, engine stability, ldw) on my dashboard. It could have been a life threatening situation, where all of sudden vehicle stop responding to brake. I had to use aux brake to stop it. I would like to report this an issue.

12 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 05/12/2014

Traveling 65 mph on a freeway with adaptive cruise control (acc) engaged, vehicle suddenly brakes hard on its own for no apparent reason; dropping 10 mph in a heartbeat. The vehicle did not produce a collision warning message on the dash. The cars in front on me were well beyond the longest 4 bar range of the acc so it was not detecting and locked onto a car in front of me. There were no cars on either side, no car crossing in front of me and the road was flat with no obstacles. Fortunately, the car behind me was not tailgating as the sudden deceleration could have caused a rear end collision. Sudden deceleration has happened twice during the six weeks I've owned this vehicle. I've also noticed that the acc is inconsistent, often sluggish, in responding to the speed of traffic when it is detecting a car in front of me; creating additional hazard concerns for the driver.

13 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 03/16/2014

Our vehicle is an Acura Mdx 2014 with the advance package. One feature of the package is adaptive cruise control which aims to keep the vehicle moving at a steady rate and at a set distance from any vehicle in front of it. On several occasions, when vehicles in front of ours slows down or a vehicle merges from another lane in front of us (even transiently), instead of gradually braking and speeding up, the Acura performs sudden deceleration with hard braking even if the vehicle in front is doing the same speed or going only slightly slower. After the hard braking starts, if the vehicle in front speeds up, our vehicle does not recover and start to accelerate again. I have a pregnant wife who is the main driver of the car and I am concerned that this problem will cause her to be rear-ended.

14 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/21/2014

Northbound I-95, vero beach, FL exit 147. Prepared to enter deceleration lane at approx. 70 mph, no pressure on gas pedal, vehicle began to slow. In deceleration lane, attempted to apply brakes to further slow vehicle, brake pedal would not depress. After stomping on brake pedal 4-5 times it finally released and allowed the brakes to function. This was the second event of this type. First occurring 24 Dec. 2013.

15 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 02/08/2014

Brake pedal gets really stiffen up and car won't start unless I depress the brake really really hard. Seems like faulty brake system. This happens when the vehicle has been left sitting for awhile. Happening frequently now.

16 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/29/2013

The contact owns a 2014 Acura Mdx. The contact stated that while parked, another vehicle slightly bumped the contact¿s vehicle and caused it to roll away in reverse and down a hill. The contact¿s vehicle then crashed into another vehicle. There were no injuries and a police report was not filed. The vehicle was not inspected or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 2,000.

17 Service Brakes problem

Failure Date: 12/09/2013

9 Dec. 2014 brake pedal would not depress to allow starting of vehicle. After jamming foot against the "frozen" brake pedal multiple times pedal depressed enough to allow vehicle start. No further issues that day. 10 Dec. 2014 second occurrence of exact issue as described above. 24 Dec. 2014 while driving approx. 20 mph on an ice covered road, attempted to apply brakes in order to retard vehicle speed while descending slight hill, brake pedal would not depress. After multiple jamming of foot against brake pedal, pedal finally depressed allowing abs and brake system to function slowing vehicle.
