general problems of the 2016 Acura MDX

Hi, vehicle experienced sudden loss of power and inability to accelerate while driving. Engine entered limp mode and would not rev beyond approximately 2,000 rpm. Vehicle became unsafe to operate in traffic due to lack of acceleration. Dealer diagnosed fault code p0087 (fuel rail/system pressure too low) and confirmed failure of the high-pressure fuel pump. Vehicle had hard starting, delayed throttle response, and multiple warning lights related to engine, emissions, and drivetrain systems. This appears to be a fuel system failure affecting vehicle safety. Acura previously issued fuel-system-related recall(s) for similar vehicles, and this failure occurred despite prior recall-related service. Repair cost is approximately $2,400. Failure resulted in loss of engine power and posed a safety risk, especially when attempting to merge or accelerate in traffic. Vehicle mileage is approximately 160,000 miles.

While driving on the highway this vehicle shifted into neutral and lost power. Once pulled to the side of the road, the vehicle was able to be turned off and re started. This happened to my teenage daughter without warning.

My vehicle is showing the exact same symptoms that the 2016-2018 Mdx fuel pump recall is stating but my VIN number is not part of the vehicles being recalled. I reached out to Acura relations and unfortunately, they cannot provide authorization to repair my fuel pump even though my vehicle falls under the same years that this model is being recalled for. I went to an independent shop to try and understand what the problem with my vehicle is and I was told that the high pressure fuel pump seems to be failing and was asked why I have not taken the vehicle to the dealership for the fuel pump recall. Due to this issue I am unable to properly use my vehicle. If I step on the accelerator too hard, the vehicle gets engine misfires and immediately goes on limp mode.

“emissions system problem” warning light has lit up on dashboard twice. This was checked and found to be a faulty code both times however, the second time it occurred, it correlated with the sway bars needing to be replaced.

We have a 2016 Acura Mdx and it has automatically shifted to neutral 3 times (twice while driving on the freeway and 1x yesterday while driving on the street at normal speeds) in the last 2 months. On the Mdx dashboard, it will display "emissions system problem" and then display "stop driving when safe. Transmission problem. See manual. " however, the car will automatically shift to neutral within seconds. My children's lives (7 y/o and 5 y/o) were placed in danger as a result of this system failure. I have contacted the Acura Honda recall specialists and client relations representatives. The car is being diagnosed at cerritos Acura dealership at the present time. A case number has been filed since our VIN shows no recall, despite it having recalls for other 2016 Acura Mdxs.

Acura Mdx 2016 sh-awd with 113366 miles diagnosis according to warning lights. Dtc test certification codes: p0301 misfire no. 1 cylinder p0306 misfire no. 6 cylinder p0300 random misfire p0420 catalyst system efficiency below threshold b1 recommendation was that the catalytic converter be replaced. All these codes were identified under Honda's TSB 20-100 dated 2/2021 on odyssey, pilot and ridgeline models where ah extended warranty to 10 years from date of purchase or 150k. These v6 engines are pretty close to that of the 2016 Mdx. Is there a remote possibility that these dtc codes could exist in Mdx v6 engines when an issue arises similar to those in the Honda vehicles? these dtc codes appeared 24 hours/37 miles after a routine oil service on 3/26/2024 at advantage Acura of naperville with a perfect inspection report. The malfunction occurred in the vicinity of mcgrath Acura of westmont on the following day of 3/27/2024. The concern is if any of the emission system components were damaged during the routine oil service. Advantage Acura have in the past installed brake pads backwards on my Acura tl 2010 for which I do have proof.

After starting the engine, when attempting to slowly accelerate, the engine almost dies or hesitates to respond to accelerator. Dangerous situation.

The auto engine idle stop on my 2016 Acura Mdx has left me in precarious situations at stop signs and/or traffic lights at least twice before the recall notification I received in the mail a couple of weeks ago. The engine turned off as designed but then would not turn back on like it should without a delay. The worst incident was when my teenage daughters were in the car with me! after receiving the recall notice recently and taking the vehicle into the dealership within days of the notification, my “software update fix” by the dealership (napleton Acura in west palm beach) completely disabled my auto engine idle stop! after calling the service rep I dealt with later that day and telling him about it, I was told the software update made the “turn-off” feature more specific and mine didn’t meet the parameters! my engine was at normal operating temperature, my air conditioner was not on and I stopped at at least 12 lights on the way home with no engine stop. That was a week ago and still no engine idle stop has taken place! I’m a pilot and don’t appreciate being talked down to by a supposed “racing champion” named zeke that feels the need to advertise his prior win on his service uniform! not only that, but now my safety related “object approaching” notification for front driving and “rear warning” for close objects during parking/reversing are now non-existent! I paid extra for these safety related options and I’m not happy that they’ve been disabled because of the “software update!” how do I become part of the class action lawsuit against Acura/Honda?.

On a multi-day road trip, the car had a temporary complete loss of power on two separate days. Both times this happened after several hours of driving at highway speeds on I-15 in California, outside temperatures were in the 90s. After a slight deceleration and then applying the accelerator again, there was a 'clunk' like sound possibly from the transmission, and then a complete loss of power. The first time I tried to pull over to the breakdown lane, and then regained power after about 2-3 seconds. The second time, we were in the middle of traffic and were not able to pull over, but again after 2-3 seconds, the power came back. The engine did not rev up when applying the accelerator and there were no dashboard lights. This appeared to be either a transmission, fuel delivery, or engine management/drive by wire issue. While we luckily did not get into an accident, we did slow down significantly on the highway, requiring other drivers around us to break, or change lanes. I have made an appointment with my independent mechanic, but the car has not been inspected yet and I am not able to forcibly reproduce the issue.

My mechanic replaced the battery on may 9th and could smell gas but I had just fueled the vehicle. Two days later is when it got worse while driving back home I pulled over and could smell gasoline inside the vehicle as if an open gas can was sitting in the passenger seat. I stopped using the vehicle and took it to my mechanic and he discovered a crack in the weld on the front fuel rail. This could have harmed my family, pets or myself if it had caught on fire. In 1 hour I used a quarter tank of gas because of the high pressure pushing the gas on to the engine. Vehicle taken to anchorage Acura and the Acura mechanic confirmed what my mechanic found. There were no warning lights or indications of anything wrong until I could smell the gas.

Stalling when accelerating. Safety hazard because the car basically dies temporarily and slows down. I have to pump the gas pedal for several seconds to get it going again.

Faulty fuel pump.

Engine light on stating: lean code, all wheel drive systems problem, emmision system problem. The vehicle was moving when it came on.

While driving on local road all of a sudden the 3 errors came on the dash board transmission system problem, emission system problem, and blind spot system problem, engine light came on. When this happens the transmission doesn't shift right and grinding of the gear is heard, car quickly slow down. After stopping and start up again, errors still there but transmission could not shift into higher gears and car tops out at 30mph. This has happened 4 times in the last few days and we are now scared to drive the car local roads, highway would be bad until we get it fixed at the dealership. This is potentially a very dangerous situation if the car loses power at an intersection.

In the last 6 months, my SUV has stalled either at a stop light or when parked. It would sputter on trying to restart. Battery was not an issue. Thought it was a starter issue and got a new starter. But it happened again today and the tow truck guy powered with jump start (even though it was not a battery issue) and it started.

Car began to stall while driving. Would not accelerate while pressing gas pedal and suddenly turned off. Tried to turn it back on. Which it did turn on but it did so with a lot of effort from the car. Engine light has now came on along with 3 more lights.

Purchased a certified pre-owned 2016 Acura Mdx sh-awd w/ tech a few weeks ago & from day one there have been issues with acceleration off a complete stop like a stop sign, stop light, coming off park or upon putting it into drive. The vehicle will not move when the gas pedal is depressed, will rev high through first, jump into 2 still revving high before finally moving when it hits 3rd. It is a huge safety issue when other traffic is oncoming as you are expecting to "go" & nothing happens when pressing the gas pedal. The dealership inspected the vehicle upon purchase at our request on two occasions but told us it is normal & will adjust to my driving style. This is not normal. They said they updated the software but found nothing wrong with the vehicle. I'm feeling like we paid for a lemon & driving something which is very unsafe especially with children in the car.

Tl the contact owns a 2016 Acura Mdx. The contact received notification of NHTSA campaign number: 19v060000 (fuel system, other). The contact stated that the check engine indicator illuminated. The vehicle was serviced at dallas Acura (4801 lemmon Ave, dallas, TX 75219, (214) 692-2872), but the remedy failed to repair the vehicle. The contact mentioned that the check engine indicator remained illuminated after the recall repair. The manufacturer was not made aware of the failure. The failure mileage was 50,000.

My 2016 Acura Mdx. Stalled twice. Both times in start and stop traffic when stopped the cylinder deactivation engaged, however then the power went out completely without warning, it took about 5-10 min then the push to start worked and the car restarted. After the first stall we took it Acura, however they said there was nothing wrong. I am writing this report after the second stall today.

The vehicle shifted to neutral while driving at 70 mph and the dash started showing transmission and fuel system errors. The vehicle would not shift back to drive mode. After pulling over to the shoulder and turning the vehicle off and on the vehicle could not be put in drive. After about 30 minutes of repeatedly turning off and on the vehicle shifted to drive and was drive able. This could have lead to an accident if there were vehicles behind me.

The contact owns a 2016 Acura Mdx. The contact stated while driving 20 mph, when driving over a speed bump the vehicle accelerated independently and impacted the vehicle in front. The contact stated no warning light was illuminated. Air bags did not deploy. The contact stated she was not injured. The contact stated the driver of the other vehicle sustained unknown injuries but was not aware if medical attention was required. A police report was filed. The vehicle was not drivable and was towed to an independent collision center. The vehicle failure was not diagnosed by an independent mechanic or dealer. The contact also mentioned after the accident the vehicle was serviced under NHTSA campaign number: 19v060000 (fuel system, other) at norris Acura (8559 baltimore national pike, ellicott city, MD 21043) on 10/11/2019. The contact stated after the recall remedy the vehicle had a fuel leak. The dealer was contacted, however stated she would be reasonable for diagnoses and repairs fees. The manufacturer had not been informed of the failure. The failure mileage was approximately 64,053.

Un intended non acceleration. Due to severe lag, delay, and sluggish transmission response. Acura has replaced my transmission under warranty at 11,000 miles and did not admit fault and say there was a problem. Here's more on my experience. . In my 1 year of ownership. . To whom it may concern: 2016� Acura Mdx 13,000 miles , purchase new from sierra Acura , alhambra, CA I am writing to request buy back of my vehicle this car is a lemon. Since taking ownership a year ago, my 2016 Mdx purchased new has experienced nothing but one problem after problem. Acura replaced transmission a month ago but the problem is still there. Is it engineered and designed to perform in a not safe manner ? many times I experience shifting and accelerating hesitation and jerky/jolting. My family and I do not feel safe operating and riding in this vehicle. Several times gas pedal depressed and vehicle lagged at 20 mph for more than 10 seconds before accelerating. A few of the latest new and ongoing problems are below. Driver door now appears off set and at different angle protruding out now. Appears that the door is not closing properly and therefore not sealed at closing. Furthermore every single window has experienced faulty mechanisms with motors, actuators, and seals. When closing the doors it feels like the windows are loose. There are also squeaks and rattles eminating throughout the cabin area. I secured and collected all loose items and the sound is still there. At engine start up each time, there is a high pitch whining noise for a few seconds before engine starts (perhaps something else faulty?) I have video / sound documentation of this with 2 seperate recording dates . With regard to the navigation, multimedia unit, it has been lagging, slow (er) to function, and severe delay in backup camera actuating, and audio functions delay in response sometimes.

Engine does not start and all the warning lights come up on dashboard. After a few seconds, each of the system comes up as failed. Dashboard shows as acc failed, lane warning failed, emission failed, engine check failed. This is a second failure in last 45 days. First failed on Nov 20 and car was in service till Dec 21. Again the engine failed on Jan 02, not allowing to start at all.

While driving, the Mdx shifts into neutral and cannot be shifted out of neutral. This has occurred on the highway multiple times. The information display shows first emissions problem, then transmission problem. Acura has a TSB out for this b15-034, but won't apply it until the problem appears. Having your vehicle shift into neutral in a high speed environment is extremely dangerous. TSB b15-034 needs to be a recall before their Mdx shifts into neutral driving on the highway and they become immobilized and people are killed as a result.
