Acura's Mdx has insufficient back-up lighting, which makes it impossible to safely back up at night. It also renders the back-up camera useless. The Acura service department was unable to advice on a solution; as they tell you to move the navigation dial to brighten the light, but that did not solve the problem. It is important to note that this problem only exists if there is no additional street lighting that could assist with illuminating the area behind the vehicle. Therefore, drivers who live in a well-lit community (city) may not notice the problem. But backing up on a country road, or somewhere with no other artificial (street) lighting, there's no safe way to back up my Acura. The backup lighting is simply insufficient and does not offer a way to safely back-up the vehicle.
