1 Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 09/22/2011

I have attempted to fill my gas tank several times and the hose keeps tripping off after a couple seconds. I can't put more than two or three gallons in my car and it takes forever to do that. Gas runs out of the tank on to the side of the car and the tires. I called Acura and they said there is no recall for this issue and that they can't do anything about it.

2 Tank Assembly problem of the 2004 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 10/16/2010

Intermittently for about 3 months, gas would be pumped as usual. After a few seconds, the gas would gush back out. Or, only a couple dollars of gas could be pumped before the auto-shut off stopped the gas flow. You try again, and it would auto-shut off again. Major fire and safety hazard. Dealer replaced entire gas tank to fix problem, but charged customer for labor.

6 Tank Assembly problem of the 2001 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 07/08/2009

I have a 2001 Acura Mdx that I purchased new. In July, I noticed small drips of oil under the vehicle. Upon getting it examined at a local mechanic, I discovered that the gas tank had developed a leak along its seam! I contacted the dealership(Acura of tempe) and they said this would not be covered under warranty. I also contacted my insurance company (ameriprise) and they said this would not be covered under comprehensive coverage and to them it appeared to be a manufacturing defect. Since the Acura dealership had quoted me a cost of repair that was more than 30% higher than my auto shop, I chose to go with the latter. I feel this defect is a manufacturing defect, and could have been a very serious hazard if left untreated. Acura should have paid for this repair. I would appreciate your suggestions / feedback: do you know of other complaints along the same lines? note: I have 2 pictures of the gas tank showing the leaks that I can send you if you like.

7 Tank Assembly problem of the 2005 Acura MDX

Failure Date: 04/15/2005

I first noticed the issue when driving in stop and go traffic. Everytime I started from a stop or hit the brakes to stop there was a thudding noise or bang sound. I took it to the dealer to check it out and they say it is a know issue with this vehicle because of the way they had to situate the gas tank to accommodate the third row seats. It happens when the gas tank is not completely full and the fuel moves in the tank and make s the tank expand and causes the noise. There is nothing they can do about it. I called the manufacturer, they said same thing, they know about it but not going to do anything about it.
