I was parked in a parking lot and went to put groceries in the back cargo area. I pushed the button to open my rear hatch, heard a plink sound as it was raising, looked and my entire rear windshield had shattered. This is a known issue - Acura even sent out a notice bulletin but supposedly will only fix it free of charge if the car is still under warranty. I don't believe I should have to pay to fix this = it is a reasonable expectation to believe your windshields won't spontaneously shatter when there is no contact whatsoever.

My back window blew out, without any cause. It was parked in my driveway on a 60 degree day. There is a known issue with the 2020 Acura Rdx. There is even a service bulletin Acura issued to dealerships TSB 22-014. Acura dealership said was not covered under warranty and I would need to pay out of pocket.
An Acura dealership won't diagnose a rear windshield issue, and I contact twice the Acura corporate to express my concern and they told me to contact a different Acura dealership. My car rear windshield shattered twice since I bought it.
When I go to accelerate to pass another vehicle car completely shuts down stops running and all warning lights come on. Car is powerless in middle of making a pass which is very concerning have to coast to side of road putting me a perilous situation hoping I don't get hit head on before I can get off the road. Took car to dealer they said bad turbo so change turbo. Two weeks after repair started to pass another car and it did it again exactly like first time. Car is currently at dealer waiting on diagnosis. I feel like this is big safety issue and I don't feel safe driving car that constantly loses power when passing someone.
Complaint summary I am filing this complaint regarding american Honda motor corp’s handling of a warranty claim on my 2021 Acura Rdx. Despite being within the 4-year/50,000-mile warranty, I was denied full coverage for a well-documented defect: condensation/moisture in both headlight housings with no external damage. •dealer (rick case Acura, sunrise FL) confirmed the condition. •technician francisco documented internal moisture, no external damage. •service manager wade bell submitted goodwill request [xxx], which was approved at 70% only. •my out-of-pocket responsibility was ~$1,400. •I requested full coverage from american Honda, consistent with Acura’s warranty obligations and known issues with these headlight assemblies. On a recorded call, american Honda repeatedly stated my request was denied, refused to provide a written denial, and declined to issue a case reference number directly. Only after reviewing an email did I locate the case number ([xxx]). This refusal to document their denial is highly concerning. ________________________________________ timeline of events •[xxx]: moisture first observed after rain; confirmed by dealer technician. •dealer request: goodwill [xxx] approved at 70%. •repairs completed: both headlights replaced; repair order available. •Sep 2025: american Honda denied my appeal verbally on recorded call; refused written denial. ________________________________________ manufacturer guidance ignored importantly: american Honda’s own dealer service bulletin (2023) regarding 2019–2021 Acura Rdx headlamps explicitly instructs dealers •“create an in case number (via Acuralink/dealer in) when moisture or condensation is observed inside Rdx headlamp housings with no external damage present. ” •“submit for goodwill/warranty replacement of the affected headlamp assemblies. ” this vehicle falls squarely within that guidance: a 2021 Rdx, <4 years old, <50k miles, with moisture documented by the dealer. Despite this, a information redacted pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5.

Parked in a restaurant parking lot, & upon leaving got into the car closed the door and the rear window just shattered. Car hadn’t been started yet & no previous damage had happened to the window. If I had been driving the car and the horrible noise it made I probably would’ve panicked and gone off the road.
When I closed my passenger door my rear windshield shattered.
Locked Acura Rdx alarm goes off randomly for no reason. When the alarm is turned off all the lights on the dash are flashing on and off and ticking. The most recent is 8/14/25. But has happened on several occasions especially if locked with the key fob or the lock on exterior of door. On 8/14/2025 it was lock by the inside door lock.

Pearl white paint peeling on trunk of car, same issue as with mdx models.
To whom it may concern, I am writing to formally report a recurring and concerning design issue affecting the Acura Rdx — specifically, a defect in the sunroof drainage system. Based on both personal experience and widespread consumer reports, it appears that the drainage channels are prone to clogging, which results in water accumulating and eventually leaking into the vehicle’s cabin and trunk areas. In my case, this defect has led to persistent water intrusion that has damaged the interior and raised serious concerns about mold and mildew development. Stagnant water inside a sealed vehicle can pose significant health and safety risks, especially for families and those who rely on their vehicles for daily transportation. Having the drains professionally cleared at the dealership costs approximately $300 per visit. I have been informed that this service will likely be required on a recurring basis, despite the fact that such maintenance is neither expected nor common for vehicle owners. This is especially troubling considering the cost exceeds routine maintenance like oil changes or tire rotations, and it addresses an issue resulting from design flaws — not misuse or neglect. I have contacted both the dealership and Honda/Acura customer service, only to be informed that there is no permanent solution. For a vehicle marketed as a premium product, this is a disappointing and financially unreasonable resolution. I respectfully urge the national highway traffic safety administration (NHTSA) to investigate this issue as a possible design defect that compromises vehicle safety and structural integrity. Given the volume of similar complaints found in consumer forums and online reviews, it is evident that this is not an isolated incident, but rather a widespread and systemic concern that warrants further scrutiny and potential corrective action. I also have a video of water gushing inside my car which I cannot upload and it’s unacceptable. Respectfully, [xxx] information redacted pursuant to the freedom of informatio.
On July 12, 2025 my husband, the driver, and myself, owner of the vehicle and passenger this day, were driving on the freeway at approximately 7:00am in the middle lanes of the freeway. Without any codes or warnings beforehand, we heard the car make alarming beeps and automatically loss all power to the engine while traveling at highway speeds. This situation put my husband and my lives at risk and in a dangerous situation as there was traffic on a busy freeway and lost all power to the vehicle and made even maneuvering off the freeway a dangerous action as we had no warning beforehand there was something wrong. My husband was able to get us safely out of harms way. After being diagnosed at a mechanic, it turns out this problem happened due to a cracked cylinder head and had no previous warnings of an issue and no warning lights on the vehicle alerting to a problem, I will have the cylinder head in my possession and the mechanic I took my vehicle stated it cannot be ruled out this could be a manufacturer’s or casting defect. I tried contacting Acura corporation about this situation but was told that since I did not take it to a dealership and have a certified tech look at my vehicle, there will be no case and no type of remedy or reimbursement for this situation.
On ?6/28/2025 my 2020 Acura Rdx rear glass shattered!!!! totally shattered!!! for no reason! no chip! no damage! it just shattered!! the whole rear glass was shattered!!!! ?.
This safety issue is the sunroof glass. I was driving when the sunroof glass exploded and shattered, without warning. The sunroof itself and the shade underneath were both closed. The shade is the only thing that kept the shattered glass from falling into the vehicle and onto me. If the shade had been open, the glass would have fallen on to me and any passengers, possibly causing injury or death. The sound of the explosion alone is enough to cause panic, stress and impaired driving, putting everyone on the road in danger. The shattered glass was blowing off of the vehicle and onto other vehicles behind and those traveling the other lane. The past few days have been extremely hot. That is the only outlier that I can pin point, that may have caused stress to the sunroof. The vehicle sits under a carport at home and when I'm at work it is parked in an open parking lot. I was driving home from work after making a few stops, again, on an extremely hot day, Monday, June 24, 2025. There have been record-breaking heat days during this week. As I looked at the exploded sunroof, I can tell that the the glass exploded out/up instead of anything pushing the glass down. I did not call the police. I did call Honda/Acura customer service to file a complaint. I filed an insurance claim; which is still going to cost me $1,000. 00 deductible to repair. My insurance has referred me to safelite solutions. The vehicle is available to view now and until it's able to be repaired; which I'm working on now.
Rear glass shattered spontaneously when closing the driver door. Sharp glass was everywhere and is now coming out of the back when it is opened or closed. The problem has been confirmed via independent service center. There were no warning signs or symptoms prior to failure.
Drive train labor rear driver cv halfshaft axle could not locate axle part anywhere for repair, sold out and on back order! clear indication that other drivers are having same issue with this part. Should be looked into and recalled!.
Back rear shield shattered.
My husband, kids and I were headed home from dinner around 8:30 pm and the sunroof randomly exploded. Nothing hit it at all.
Rear window shattered sitting idle in the driveway. Acura told me replacing would be $1,107. 00. To my knowledge they are aware of issue but not taking responsibility.
This was a spontaneous explosion of the rear lift gate window. The car was not even turned on; I had just gotten into it. There was a sound like a gunshot, followed by glass shattering both into and outside the car. I dropped immediately in the seat, and when I started breathing again, I got out of the car, and saw the window. Thanks to my grandson’s research, I now know this is, and has been, an issue with the Acura Rdx. There. Was absolutely no warning prior to this occurrence.
Rear window shattered while sitting parked.
The rear windshield of my car shattered by itself. The car had pieces of glass everywhere in the back. Acura is aware of an issue with this windshield in models Rdx from 2019 to 2023. They sent a technical service report (TSB 22-014) to their dealers asking to replace the windshield on these cases. We took the car to the dealer for inspection, and they took pictures showing that the car did not have any damage that could have created the problem, but they claim that Acura refuses to cover the repair anyways.
On or about March 10, 2025, I brought my vehicle to Acura of ocean in ocean township, NJ. My infotainment center was crackling continuously, and the screen was black, rendering my navigation system, radio, clock, and apple carplay unusable. The constant crackling, with the screen downloading graphics, and various messages popping up, such as "check tuner" and "network connection lost," is a constant distraction and annoyance while driving. I have no choice but to use my iphone, forcing me to take my eyes off the road. The dealer inspected the car and informed me that my amplifier and tuner had water damage from a leak on the tailgate top seal. I paid Acura $258. 71 to have the seal replaced. I was told the seal caused the water damage and was given an estimate for $3339. 09 to replace both components. I contacted Honda of America because I had learned of a recall of 2019 Acura Rdxs for this precise problem. The case manager of Honda got back to me and informed me that Honda of America offered to pay all but $1366. 93 to replace the components. I refused the offer because I do not see how I should be liable for any cost. It remains unclear why my VIN did not appear during the recall and why I received no notice of said recall. I strongly feel that Honda's offering me any money is an admission of responsibility/guilt for this problem. If there were no liability, Honda would have offered nothing. I hope to receive communication back from your agency advising what I should do in order to have Honda recognize and admit their error and make good on the repair. Thank you, and please help! sincerely, mrs. Cindy garber.
On 2/20/2025 I was getting off work. Proceeded to get in my car and close my door. The back window just shattered and broke out of no where. I didn't know or understand what had just happen since I was not hit nothing was thrown at my car. Call abington Acura dealership was told they were aware of the problem. I would have to go through my insurance company for the 1100. 00 repair don't understand how I am liable for an issue that was cause on Acura's behalf.
Rear window shield shattered while the car is sitting in the park with no exterior impact. According to Acura there is a bulletin about this issue. Contacted the dealer they're manipulating this by charging customers. . .
Back rear window on 2019 Acura Rdx aspec trim, the glass unexpectedly shattered upon closing the driver side door. Glass and heating defrost element on back window is likely a manufacturer defect causing the unexpected window glass shattering.
Rear window shatters without any warning can be extremely dangerous when happens while driving due to it sounding like a gunshot I can be severely distracting to driver causing the driver to lose control of vehicle or swerve into other lanes and injure other drivers. Incident occurred twice nice in November 2023 and a second time February 2025.
Rear window shattered.
The back window completely shattered, with shards of glass falling both in and out of the car. It is a known defect. It happened completely out of the blue. I don't understand why this isn't a recall. I also don't understand why I had to pay for a know defect. I'm grateful I was not on the highway when it happened. I was on my street but it was in a downpour.
Rear windshield glass unexpectedly shattered while I started it up inside the garage.
Rear windshield shattered just sitting in driveway. Did some research and found out Acura knows about this through TSB 22-014.
While accelerating off the entrance ramp onto the highway, the engine randomly slows down automatically…the car reduced speed drastically without applying brakes and without cars around me or in front of me.
There is known issue where the rear glass will just randomly shatter. My car was parked and no one was near it. I came out to leave and I noticed the rear glass was shattered. This issue has been reported by thousands of other Rdx owners. It’s absolutely insane that this isn’t recalled and covered by Acura. Additionally, it has been over a year and they still have not contacted me about the part to the fuel pump recall. They claim they don’t have the part in. It’s been over a year that I’ve been waiting.
The rear glass has shattered twice in February. First time January 2022 and second time February 2025. The vehicle has been parked when this incidentoccurred. Both occasions has been un winter conditions temperatures. As one can imagine, a shattered rear window isn’t just a minor inconvenience. The rear windshield is crucial for protecting passengers from outside elements and potential hazards during a drive. The first incident was handled by my auto insurance and a rework by the dealer at my cost the second incident Acura covered 75% of the cost while I was held responsible for the remaining 25% no warning were present prior to incident.
This is the second time my back windshield has spontaneously crumbled! I’ve never had this to happen to any car I’ve ever owned. What is wrong with g with this vehicle. I’ve seen on you tube and til you that I am not the only owner this has happened.
