The hatch window of the car broke spontaneously while parked. There were no debris or damage made to it. The glass broke right above the window shield wiper and the rest of the window was intact with spider web like shatter.

The back windshield has cracked on two occasions in the span of six months.

Rear windshield shattered while car was parked. Entered car, closed door, hit start button - rear windshield spontaneously shattered. Called dealership where Rdx was purchased - they recommended contacting client services. Filed complaint with Acura client relations - received case#. Took vehicle to a local dealership per their instruction - sent report to Acura. It's been 3 days - no resolution - no case manager assigned - no loaner supplied. No prior issues to note with windshield. Did see many issues such as this one online. Getting the run-around from Acura.

Shattered back windshield is common but not recalled. Also another issue I am having is a jammed seatbelt. Acura currently told me my windshield is not covered because it’s a canadian car. Wondering if my seatbelt issue will be resolved or not too because it’s also a canadian car. .

I own a 2019 Acura Rdx advance with a head-up display (hud). The hud projection surface suddenly became warped and cracked after sun exposure. This was not gradual deterioration or normal wear and tear—it happened abruptly. The resulting distortion directly affects the clarity of the hud and creates visual interference in my forward line of sight. This impacts my ability to clearly see the road and can be distracting while driving, creating a potential safety hazard. This appears to be a known issue reported by other owners of the same vehicle model, suggesting a defect in materials or design that cannot withstand normal environmental conditions like sunlight. Despite this, the manufacturer has denied goodwill assistance for repair. I am submitting this complaint because this defect affects driver visibility and may increase the risk of an accident.

The rear windshield shattered on my 2019 Acura Rdx while parked in the garage, not sure how it happened or if its a defect.

Rear window shattered without cause. First incident occurred on March 26, 2024 for which I replaced the rear window. The second incident occurred on February 18, 2026. The defect occurred in exactly the same pattern and place (near the windshield wiper) and shattered the entire rear window both times. During both instances there was cold weather and rain. I do not think that this is a coincidence and luckily did not occur while I was driving or had my child in the car. I have found evidence online that I am not the only one with this complaint.

This morning after getting into my vehicle and closing the door my rear windshield shattered. This is a known and common problem certain model year Rdxs. We are waiting to hear from my insurance company on whether it’s covered. There were not warnings or issues prior to the shatter.

The rear windshield spontaneously cracked. There was nothing wrong with the vehicle and no physical damage was done. The car was started with remote start and the rear windshield defroster turned out. After approaching the vehicle and opening the trunk, pieces of the window began to fall as it was shattered. Small vibrations made the window continue to crumble until nothing was left in the back. This has been reported to Acura who will not cover the issue even though there is a service bulletin 22-014 stating there is a defect. Acura has stated the vehicle is not covered even though the issue is for all vins.

My rear windshield shattered during the winter. There was no signs of any damage beforehand. There was broken glass everywhere and I could’ve seriously cut myself or anyone back there could’ve been hurt by the pieces of broken glass. I had to file a police report for my insurance. Many car dealerships are refusing to fix! there’s too many reports of this happening!.

In this case I was away from the parked vehicle when the shattering occurred. - there are quite a few reports of this issue online in facebook Acura owner groups and in published news stories such as this: [xxx] - in my case, it was inspected by the repair company and confirmed to be a common occurrence they are called to repair. - there were no warning lights or any signs of damage or stress to the glass. Rear windshield shattered with no sign of impact. This is a known problem with this model. Luckily the window had tint so it is holding the glass together from falling into the vehicle. Vehicle was parked and unoccupied at time of this incident.

Rear glass broken 2 times: 1) 12/23/2022 2) 01/31/2026.

The rear window has shattered twice (2023, 2026). Both times, the vehicle has been parked in a lot with cameras. After reviewing the cameras no one was near the vehicle. After the first time, I became aware that this was an issue with my model. I contacted the manufacturer and they expressed that my year was not affected by the defect. It just happened again. I contacted the manufacturer again, they expressed, that in order for them to do anything a recall has to be put in place and to report it to you. In addition, I do not put on the rear defrost. I have been driving around with shards of glass in the rear door. Safelite has expressed, due to how the manufacturer built the door, they can not remove all the glass. Also, every time the door is lifted pieces of glass fall out.

The back tailgate glass shattered. It was parked, I had just turned it on. And as I was starting to shift it to reverse it shattered. A pop the soundof glass falling. I slammed on breaks got out the window was broken, missing. All along the windsheild wiper. I had to get it fixed after 5 days waiting for the glass to come in by safelite.

Was driving vehicle to work in normal weather conditions with all windows closed. Rear windshield glass shattered.

Came out of drs office in parking lot. Sat down in drivers seat and started the car when I heard a pop and then looked back and the entire rear window shattered.

2nd time rear window shattered for no reason 1/27/26 1st time 11/7/2023 fortunately no one is car when happened parked car.

Rear window shattered in the morning when closing front passenger door. Car was parked in driveway. Was not running. Had been parked since previous afternoon in the same spot. Very large hole in center of rear window, all surrounding glass shattered.

Rear windshield spontaneously exploded, Acura has a service bulletin regarding the issue(service bulletin 22-014) no recalls, Acura refuses to address issue thousands of other drivers have experienced.

Rear windshield of 2019 Acura Rdx shattered while driving approximately 35 mph and the rear defroster was on. Nothing hit my car. It was extremely loud and startling. Luckily, I was on a surface street driving fairly slowly and nobody was next to me when I quickly exited the lane. Lucky no one was hurt. Despite there being a service bulletin, Acura refused to assist in the repair.

Rear glass windshield shattered while parked in my garage. No impact involved. Car was not driven for almost 24 hours.

The rear windshield shattered out of nowhere while parked outdoors on a cold day (<20 degree weather). There was no impact involved in the shattering. Dealer stated that I must go through insurance in order to get rear windshield repaired. Upon further searching this is a problem that is common with the Acura Rdx model from years 2019-2023 there was even a technical service bulletin (TSB) on may 20th, 2023 involving 'rear windshield glass shattering' caused by 'incorrect specification for the rear defroster grid' showing that the company is aware of this issue.

My rear windshield shattered completely on its own shortly after I had gotten in the car, I was parked, luckily I had not even started driving yet. This is a major safety component that could have resulted in a dangerous situation if I had been driving the vehicle.

To whom it may concern, I am submitting a vehicle safety defect complaint regarding my 2020 Acura Rdx. The rear window of my vehicle suddenly shattered without any impact, collision, road debris, or external force. At the time of the incident, the vehicle was stationary. There was no warning or visible damage prior to failure. The glass shattered unexpectedly, creating a dangerous condition and risk of injury. I was required to file an insurance claim and have the rear window replaced. I am concerned this may indicate a defect in the glass, manufacturing process, or vehicle structure. I request that NHTSA review this incident, determine whether similar failures have been reported, and evaluate whether this represents a safety-related defect requiring investigation or recall. My rear window suddenly and completely shattered without any contact to the window. This was a safety issue do the breaking of glass and not being able to drive safely after it broke.

Warmed car before driving, once I got in car and shut drivers side, rear window shattered. Common issue with other owners of same car. Reached out to Acura dealerships and they claim it’s not an issue that is happening and will not replace it.

Sometime between 9pm on January 13th and 8:45am on January 14th, the rear glass of my 2020 Acura Rdx shattered inside our closed, insulated garage. No cause could be found inside or around the garage and I googled and found out the rear defroster grid causes stress on the class and is actually quite common. I also have a video but it’s too large to upload.

My vehicle was parked inside my garage and turned off when the rear back window (rear windshield) suddenly shattered without warning. There was no impact, accident, or object involved. The glass was factory-installed with no prior damage. This spontaneous failure is a safety concern and may indicate a manufacturing or design defect because I looked it up and there are other cases of the same situation on videos.
