Software Problems of Acura RDX

Technology systems experience random failures, at various times sometimes when driving. Functionality can sometimes be restored by stopping the car and restarting the engine. Sometimes the vehicle must sit for hours with engine off to restore functionality. System failures include dashboard lighting, vehicle display screen, and heads-up display. Numerious dealer visits have provided no solution till today when I was informed that that this is a software issue and that a software vehicle update is required. However this is not available, has not been available for around 6 months and no timeline has been offered for this update. I regard this as a safety and driver distraction issue that can lead to collisions. Acura needs to place a higher priority on this issue in order to provide owners with a safer driving environment.

Adaptive cruise control failed to detect vehicle in front, near collision. Looks to be related to software/firmware as other instrumentation also appeared to hang/pause. Vehicle was also sold without a working horn.

Voice recognition with apple carplay and 3rd party apps fails to function which can lead to driver distraction resulting in collisions. This is an apple issue, not an Acura issue. Third party apps for apple carplay have been released several weeks ago from this date but voice recognition will not work with them, at least in the 2019 Acura Rdx (listed as compatible) and most likely all vehicles that do not have touchscreens. I have done exhaustive testing on this issue and reported it to the highest levels of apple that applecare will allow me to go but I get 'stonewalled' about this with apple claiming it is a problem with google maps and waze, not carplay. However both apps use the the same gui which sends me a message that it is an issue with the carplay software library, not the 3rd party apps. However apple refuses to acknowledge this or give a high priority to resolving it. � I am of the opinion it is a serious safety issue as it can lead to driver distraction resulting in accidents and possible injury or death. I have suggested to apple, and google that the apps be disabled in carplay until this issue is resolved but have failed to receive any acknowledgement to this suggestion. Extensive documentation of apple's refusal to acknowledge this issue is available upon request. This has been an issue for many weeks now. With the latest attempt on the date below. Google, creator of the current 3rd party apps has also been informed with no response.

Since purchasing car, I've had: squeaky brakes. Acura is aware but does not have fix. Lane departure issue. A lot of "false positives" which causes car to shake and slow down - very dangerous when another car is driving behind. Acura is aware but does not have fix. Issues with radio and apple care. Does not work intermittently. Acura has done software update to fix but still have problems. Squeaky wipers. Were replaced in September. Need another replacement.

9,249 miles on a 2017 Acura Rdx. Check engine light came on while in motion on a highway at approximately 65 mph with notable loss of power (once stopped it took a full 30 seconds to get to 15 mph). Let car sit for 2 hours as manual stated. Once restarted and driven for approximately 20 feet all lights on dashboard where flashing and again virtually no power. Vehicle was towed to the dealership. Tech performed hds scan and retrieved error codes: p0304, p0 05, and p0306. . . 4/5/6. Dealership claims was all due to needing a software update. Of which I never would have been aware of unless I experienced this scary loss of power on the highway. They had no sort of alert out that the new models are in need of a software update. Dangerous and do not feel safe driving this car any longer.

My car had 9100 on Rdx I needed to have my pads and rotor replaced on from brakes. I had problems with brakes at 5000 miles. When I pick up car I heard noice when pumping breaks when I was picking up vehicle and mechanic could not find anything wrong. I have talk to Acura customer service which were not helpful. I spoke to jim brown gm at ron tonkin. He stated he would talk to his manager of repairs and Acura rep about car. I have already had the radio and board replaced. Lane keep assist warning light come on 2 times and reset my software reset. The microphone replaced. I have had terrible case mile I have never gone above 19. 6 mpg per gas tank refill. Darrel said that is epa suggestion. My navigation keeps alarming 4 blocks away from my home. Siri does not work properly. I will tell it to call someone sometimes it does sometimes it doesnt even with new microphone. I have had the car in the shop 4 times close to 4 weeks. I have a lemon and would never tell anyone to by an Acura.

My navigation system starts alarming 3-4 blocks from home stating I home when I am not on my street. Also systems says I am at an exit in seattle but it is incorrect. I spoke with Acura and they stated the maps are 5 years old when I bought the car I would think maps were up to date. Also my radio would erase stations that were preset and show zzzzz on stations. They needed to update software and replace computer boards and radio. Also when on a call it would drop the sound when on phone. I also have static while on phone. Acura stated that the software would correct this but it continues the error. Also the car would brake when on its own when I am a 100 ft away from the other car. They upated software on 9/27/2016.
