Oil shot out the car while driving at high speed on the freeway, causing all the oil to shoot out, and the entire function of the car to stop working. The engine essentially died, causing the brake, the gas, and steering to lock and not work. Car went from 65 miles a hr to 5 milesw, very scary summary on certain passenger vehicles, prolonged high under-hood temperatures may cause the power steering hose to deteriorate prematurely causing the hose to crack and leak power steering fluid. Consequence power steering fluid leaking onto a hot catalytic converter will generate smoke and possibly lead to an under-hood fire.

Was driving on interstate 71 north, at the posted speed limit (70) when the car stopped running. All dash warning lights came on. The engine stopped running, so all of the power-assist stopped working. I pulled to the side of the road, came to a complete stop, turned off the ignition and tried to restart the car. I turned the ignition key and the car started and ran without any problems. This has now happened 6 more times. The most recent time was after 6pm on Monday June 22nd. This time, after restarting the car, the check engine light stayed on. I took the car to my local service garage and they diagnosed the faulty ignition switch. I have checked numerous sites on the internet and found many other people have had the same issue with Honda and Acura products. I contacted Acura, to see if there had ever been a recall, they told me there had not. I am shocked to learn that hundreds if not thousands of people have had their cars stop running, with no notice, and there has been no action by the manufacturer!!.

While stopped in traffic, upon acceleration. Engine stalled. Vehicle placed in park and car was restarted and driven away. Main fuel relay was replaced. Per Acura service bulletin 01-044, the incident that occurred could be due to a failed powertrain control module. Per Acura service bulletin 01-044, there was an updated powertrain control module, but this part has since been discontinued and is no longer being produced by Acura. I have called Acura customer service who stated that even though they are aware of the circumstances per technical service bulletin 01-044, there is nothing they are able to do to repair the car. I feel that this is a safety related issue due to the risk that the vehicle has the potential to continue to stall and cannot be repaired.
