We own a 2001 Acura 3. 2tl, which we bought in 2006 with 43k miles on it. It currently has a little more than 91,000 miles on it. About a month ago, we started experiencing transmission trouble - very sluggish shifting, and slippage between 2nd and 3rd gears, and heavy shaking/vibration of the car (until then it has been a fantastic vehicle). I googled it and found out that it was under a recall. However, when I called the local Acura dealer, we were told we were beyond the 7 yr window, even though we have less than the 100k limit on the warranty.
While driving, the vehicle started to shake violently, the consumer was propelled toward the windshield and momentarily lost control of the vehicle. The consumer took the vehicle to dealer and after a diagnosis was performed, the consumer was told the automatic transmission failed.
Automatic transmission failed which caused the vehicle to shake violently and the driver momentarily lost control. The consumer was told the transmission needed to be replaced.
