My 2004 Acura Tl has a crack on the dashboard that outlines the airbag. The crack appears to get longer and diverges in other directions over time. I am worried that if the air bag was to deploy, pieces of the dash will come flying to the car's inhabitants and may also potentially alter the trajectory and velocity of the airbag. I have an 2004 Acura Tl with cracked dash on multipile location including one next to the airbag which could be could be a safety hazard. There is even a face book group "Acura Tl defective dash" with hundreds of Acura Tl owners experinencing the same problem, but Acura/Honda is not willing to do anything about it.
2004 Acura Tl. The interior dash suddenly formed cracks forward of the steering wheel and over the passenger airbag system. My concern is that the cracked dash will impact passenger airbag deployment in case of an accident. I purchased an extended warranty for the car through Acura when I purchased the car in 2004 which is still in force. The local Acura dealership claimed the dash replacement was not covered.

My 2004 Acura Tl has developed a large crack around the passenger side front air bag in the dash. This was at one time a completely sealed unit. The concern is that if there were to be a deployment, that either the deployment will not happen, incorrect deployment because of the seal being defective, or the cracked portion of the dash flying off and injuring or killing a person if deployed.
My Acura Tl 04 dash started cracking and spread quickly like a disease. The cracks are all over my dash, right left - to top - over the speakers, passenger airbag, etc. For this expensive of a car this is ridiculous! I cannot believe there is not a recall and for cracks all around the airbag, I would think that would be a safety hazard! Acura should be doing something about this!.

I love my Tl but I am totally disappointed with the dash on my 2004 Acura Tl. I have had cars that had similar dashes and they never cracked! this dash has already cracked in 3 places. One crack runs from the windshield to almost the top of the glove compartment. This one makes me uneasy every time I drive the car because it runs alongside the passenger airbag. The other cracks are smaller but nevertheless they are there. I don't think this is acceptable for a car I paid so much for. Acura needs to step up and recall these cheap dashboards.
My dash is cracking at a accelerated rate. First at the passenger airbag, now over driver side. My concern is if the dash is dry enough to split along the airbag seams, then what would prevent shards of dash flying off if the airbag deploys? the should get some serious safety considerations.

2004 Acura Tl severely cracked dashboard on the passenger side. I have 2 vertical cracks on the passenger side of my 2004 Acura Tl. The cracks were not gradual they both happened suddenly overnight. I have not had any accidents or collisions that may have caused this defect and am realizing that the problem is quite common amongst 04 Acura Tl owners. From pictures on online forums the cracks appear to be identical in all cases.

I have 7 cracks in the dash of my 2004 Acura Tl. It started with 2 long cracks, one over the instrument panel and one in the passenger air bag cover. Over the past 13 months 5 more cracks have appeared in the dash between the first 2 orignal cracks. These cracks are unsightly and may be a safety hazard since the passenger air bag cover is involved.

Multiple cracks are on the passenger side, and a deep gash appears on the cowling over the instrument cluster. It's a high-end car, and you pay big money for it, and you shouldn't have big cracks in your dash board, on't know, you know with a crack like that, if the airbag were to deploy if it would cause any sort of malfunction.

Although we dont know of any cases yet, it is reasonable to believe that cracks that develop where the passenger air bag is supposed to deploy have the potential to affect the deployment of this safety equipment in case of an accident and, therefore, should be considered a safety hazard. I currently owned a 2004 Acura Tl and the dash is cracking all around, now I am concerned for my safety in case of a crash how will it affect the airbags, Acura ltd. Will do nothing to remedy the situation due to the dash is (normal wear and tear) meanwhile it is a brand new car.
2004 Acura Tl with cracked dashboard around passenger airbag. Outline of the airbag was visible since the car had approximately 50000 miles. Now the cracks are very visible and getting worse. Safety concern because of passenger airbag. Called Acura corporate, they offered a 25% discount to replace the dashboard which I believe is an admission that it is a defect. I could not afford to pay $1500 to have it replaced and feel that Acura should replace the dash. Many people have a similar problem. Acura has not issued a recall. I am hoping that NHTSA can influence Acura to do the right thing and protect the consumer. My car now has 100,000 miles and the cracks are very noticeable. I am concerned for safety of passengers because of the airbag. In addition, the car is supposed to be a luxury car and this defects detracts from the appearance and dramatically impacts the resale value. Please do what you can to force Acura to step up and fix the known defect.
