Tl- the contact owns a 2005 Acura Tl. The contact stated that while attempting to accelerate from a stop light, the accelerator pedal was depressed but the vehicle failed to accelerate as it increased in rpms. The check engine warning light illuminated. The failure recurred on numerous occasions. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the filter system in the transmission needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 140,000. Oo.
Was driving in stop & go traffic and the check engine light went on. Approx 50 miles later while driving at 55mph the check engine light started flashing and the engine started running very roughly. Pulled off road and had car towed to dealership. Dealership identified that the ignition coil had water on it which shorted it out. Short also required replacement of one computer in the car. Water was from blocked hose from area directly under windshield which had been blocked by debris. Dealer advised that they had same problem come in a few weeks earlier. In that case, the ignition coil had burned into the engine head, requiring a replacement engine.
