Dashboard Crack problems of the 2006 Acura TL

Dash board cracking around airbag. Concerned about premature airbag deployment, injury during deployment of dash board plastic or no deployment at all during a accident.

Dash board has cracks every where looks horrible . . . . Not happy with this car.

Initially, during the warranty period, in June 2009, portion of the dashboard above the passenger side airbag faded from black to a light gray indicating some sort of decomposition. The dealer dyed the plastic black again. Last year, a long crack appearred in the dashboard in the same area running from front to back. This summer a long second crack s appeared possibly outlining the contour of the passenger airbag compartment. This week, a third crack has started in the center of the dashboard. A quick search on the internet reveals that this is a common problem for owners of third generation Acura Tl vehicles and may represent a material or quality issue. It is also possible that increased brittlenebritr loss of integrity of the dashboard may adversely affect the performance of the passenger airbag allowing material to be ejected when the airbag deploys. I have used dash "shades" to protect the dash from sun exposure over the years and have never had a prior vehicle's dashboard deteriorate in this manner. This could be similar to the problems occurring in Toyota dashboards and their recall as this is in high temperature/humid environment. Acura does not recognize this a problem because many of the complaints out claims are out of warranty.

This model and year has numerous of complaints about the front dashboard cracking at an early stage. Also the valve cover gaskets leaks prematurely. And finally the transmission began slipping out of gear which I had to have it rebuilt. Please address these issues.

I need to file a complaint after purchasing my Acura Tl 2006 a few weeks later my dash board started to crack really bad contacted Acura regarding this problem and all they responded was they could replace it for a cost. This is really disappointing due to reading similar complains online for the same thing happening to other owners this should diffinitely be a recall this is cracking where the air bag is. Another complain if the car is left with out turning the ignition on for more then a day the car will not start I then need to jump start it to have it run again every week I've also read this is happening to other Acura owners as well this is an electrical problem which is very inconvenient for me and other Acura car owners there should be a recall to fix this issue as well. Please help me and other Acura owners with this constant problem and making Acura accountable for bad manufacturing.

A large crack on the front dashboard above the airbag on passenger side.

Two 12 inch vertical cracks down both sides of what appears to be the passenger air bag. Cracks are on dash board. I'm not sure how safe the airbag on that side is now with the cracks outlining the airbag location.

Problem started with a small crack on my dashboard by the passenger airbag(outline of the airbag started cracking). After about a week the crack grew all the way to the windshield and now I have 2 cracks about a foot long each perpendicular to each other. Also another crack closer to the middle of the dashboard appeared about a week ago. That crack is about half the size of the cracks by the passenger airbag.

On or about April 2,2012 I noticed a crack in the dash on the passenger side near the airbag. 3 weeks later another crack on the drivers side dash. Went to Acura dealership after reading all the complaints and they offered to pay 90%. Fast forward to the week of may 22-28 there is now cracks outlining the passenger airbag all the way around it. The sides are starting to curl up and now 3 more new cracks on the drivers side dash as well. This all started 2 months ago at which time I had absolutely no cracks at all. I take very good care of my car and I also use a custom made sun visor every single day. I feel with all these complaints that there has to be some sort of defect. I'm not happy having to pay 150. 00 of my measly unemployment check to pay for this.

Dash board started cracking about a month ago, a crack on the passenger side above the air bag, and now there are 2 to 3 cracks all along the dash board. I have owned this car for almost 3 1/2 years, and it has not been exposed to the elements for over an 8 hour period. I park this in a garage all the time. Honda should pay for this, I have never had a dashboard crack, even on cheap cars.

Dashboards cracks ( huge) along passenger airbag which has never been used!.

I bought Acura 2006 Tl in November 2006 and I have noticed there is a crack on my dashboard where the passenger side air bag sits. I noticed on 8/6/11 and now after one week these cracks are started growing. I asked the dealer in pembroke pines and they said it would cost me 800 bucks which is way expensive. I am very disappointed from the manufacture that they wouldnt care for their customers.

After 5 years of owning my 2006 Acura Tl, hairline cracks started showing up on passenger side dashboard. Within a week I have 3 big long cracks all along and above the air bag area of the passenger dashboard. Car is garage kept and there should be no reason why the dashboard is cracking up so bad. I am worried that this can affect the way the airbag functions in case of an accident. Unacceptable for a luxury vehicle with only 75,000 miles on it. Very disappointed.

Dashboard is cracking all over the place. This is not regular wear and tear but a design/manufacturing defect. I am concerned about safety of airbag.

Acura will not help me with dashboard. They want to charge me $3000 for a new dash. This car has never been outside , always garage kept by me and one other owner! cracking all over dash is goin to cause the air bag to hurt someone if deployed! no dash cracks all over thats kept inside. This is happening to every Acura Tl 04-08 model! repetitively ! the car has never been in any coastal area or salt or sand or heat at all! iv owned many cars higher in millage that were kept outside only and never had cracking dash problem! iv seen older cars that were extremely old in age and kept in heat that had minor cracks but nothing like this especially on newer vehicles kept no where but inside the whole time since car came off production line! Acura acknowldged the problem but no help was offered they said I would have to pay around #3000 to have a new dash installed. This is clearly poorly made material by Acura probably fake carbon fiber or cheap plastic. But they advertise their vehicles as "world class, luxury, etc their ads go on and on about quality!" no other vehicle in this class has this problem and only this generation Tl made by Acura 04-08! please make them do something and be responsible and fair! this is not from sun or heat! they basically lie to sell vehicles! this is called samingor coning.
