1 Other Fuel System problem of the 2003 Acura TL

Failure Date: 09/30/2023

This car is not safe. First, the takata airbags are in it. I drove my daughter, my mother and my little dog in this car! I can’t believe the used car dealership did not let me know that. Then the car starts shifting funny. Also dangerous. There should be a recall for transmission. There are over 500 people affected by this. I’m trying to enter a highway and I need to pick up speed, because there is a tractor trailer in the right lane and heavy traffic. I try to accelerate and it goes nowhere. 30mph. And that was after I merged in and have traffic going 70 behind me. Scariest thing ever. They should not be allowed to sell these cars. It is not safe for the driver and their family and it is not safe for others on the road. I can’t believe the negligence. I will not be driving this death trap ever again.

4 Other Fuel System problem of the 2009 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/01/2019

I've had my vehicle stop in the middle of the road due to a mechanical recall that went undiagnosed. ( over oil consumption recall, in which I was completely unaware until finally receiving the letter prodivided) I was driving off of pleasant street in hanson MA, crossing onto the main road when my vehicle engine just shut down and froze the steering wheel. Also a police officer was on the scene to help me safely off the road. I have been calling Acura of Honda and they have been running me in circles with numerous people on the phone and denied that they are willing to cover this problem, and this is a major safety issue. Which the claim safety is first and for the client, but they have failed to deliver on their own words in the safety recall. The car is currently down in hopes that they supply a repair since they have been much aware of this issue, any help would be much appreciated. Thank you.

5 Other Fuel System problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/31/2018

From the day after that we took the car from the lot the car had a light turn on to tighten fuel cap. We have replaced that and the solenoid and failed. The coolant system has been replaced and it still overheats. Now the car is suffering of no start condition. Dont understand why so much trouble has been experienced and we only took it from the lot 7 months ago. 119,000 miles. Only 91 octane.

6 Other Fuel System problem of the 2004 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/15/2018

I bought a used 2004 Acura Tl that has run fine for 6 months so far. Just last night, when stationary and trying to move forward my transmission started slipping, stalling out and ramping up to 5000 rpm. After a green light with cars behind me and I can't move an inch. I take my car to a transmissions specialist to learn that there is coolant mixing with my transmission fluid. There was a NHTSA recall on the automatic transmissions for Acura Tl's in 2004. Recall number 04v176000 . The transmissions specialist said that in 23 years working he couldn't remember the last time he saw this problem in a Honda, he thought they called back those coolers. Anyway, calling my local Acura dealer, they just looked up my VIN and told me there is no recall assigned to my car, and therefore they can't do the recall work. Yet I have the exact problem described in the recall! I read that manufacturers are only required to do recall work for 10 years but they might do older work (14 yrs) in this case since there are so many old cars still on the road, or if it poses a risk to the road (which in this case it certainly does). I'm looking at a $2600 fix that I feel should be addressed by the manufacturer and I'm being blown off. 'on some vehicles, certain operating conditions can result in heat build-up between the countershaft and secondary shaft second gears in the automatic transmission, eventually leading to gear tooth chipping or gear breakage. '.

7 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/20/2017

On 7/20/2017, I was driving on I-680 s towards fremont CA. I was driving roughly 70 mph. When I was about to pass a car, all of a sudden, the engine lost power. I hit the gas paddle all the way down, and it didn't work. As I felt a significant loss of power, I pull over to the side and stopped the vehicle. The engine shut down immediately when I came to a complete stop. I tried to restart my car, but it does not work, and the engine check light popped up. I had my insurance towed my car to oakland Acura, as I did an oil change there on 7/19/2017. After an inspection, oakland Acura indicated that the intake and exhaust valve does not open and close normally. A value adjustment will solve the problem. I felt that it's pretty impossible for all the valves to be malfunction all at once. Thus, I asked the technician are all the valves malfunctioning, the technician said should be. I then asked whether such a problem is caused by an improper oil change since they did my oil change the day before, and I only drove 25 miles after the oli change. The technician said, "I don't think so". I further asked whether it's an engine design problem that is subject to a recall, the technician commented that these engines last forever. Thus, they did a valve adjustment for me, even though I don't know what they really did. I got charged for $499 for this valve adjustment. I also noticed that when I started my engine (especially in cold weather), my car has a bubbling noise. I noticed that on many Acura forum, many Acura Tl owners have the same problem. I asked oakland Acura to look into this. The conclusion they gave me was inconclusive. I want to report this issue because it was really dangerous that an engine lost power completely on a high way. I am not sure if it's an engine design problem or not, so I thought I should report this.

9 Other Fuel System problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/02/2015

The car suddenly started to slow down. The gears started engaging and disengaging. Next day the autozone shop used the scanner and found codesp0722-p0780 the cuuse of CA problem. The car riuns for a few minutes and then dies, after cooling period of about 2-4 minutes it starts runs for about 6-8 minutes and dies again. Three days ago the transmission repair shop also took on highway and had the same problem. He then tried to use the scanner to get the codes and. The scanner would not read anything. Thus at his advice I have to replace with new reman transmission coding about $4,650. In addition the dashboard showed tears the last summer. Called Acura and the said they had no recall on Acura Tl 2006 car and also about tearing of dash board.

10 Other Fuel System problem of the 1999 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/01/2014

This vehicle was bought used from a local dealer 9/11/2013 and about 2 months ago she started experiencing problems with it stalling on her with no warning what so ever, we tried restarting the vehicle and it would start for a very short time then shut off again almost immediately. Tried starting it a couple times till it finally started then we would put it in drive and move again, traveled about 6 blocks down the road and it stalled again!! did the same thing over till we got it where we needed it and left it parked overnight. Asked a few friends and they tell me the possibilities of what could be wrong and I was told that if we take it to a garage and they test drive it and if it doesn't happen while they are test driving it then they won't have any idea of what's going on. . . For real!!! I'm very upset and not sure what I can do. Plus I also some recall notices for this car and I'm wondering if these problems were ever fixed, what can be done and how do I go about finding out if these recalls were even taken care of? I'm very concerned about the safety of my daughter driving the car at all till it's fixed! thanks.

13 Other Fuel System problem of the 2000 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/02/2013

Today June 2, 2013, my 2000 Acura 32tl had sudden acceleration that resulted in a crash with a parked vehicle on the road while I was backing out of the driveway. After hitting the parked car, I tried to pull the car forward and tried to stop. Instead, it started moving forward uncontrollably, even though I was pushing on the brake pedal. I lost control of the vehicle to stop. It took control and started moving forward through road, driveway and neighboring lawn. I steered for about 100 feet and hit the corner of the neighboring home and finally stopped. It was for about 5 seconds of frightening moment that my family and I went through. It was sunny and 85 deg f. The car had severe damages on back and front bumpers. Tire marks on the road, driveway, and lawn, plus property damage to the corner of the house were sustained. Front airbags deployed and hit my wife and I in the face. I am wondering if there are ongoing investigations by NHTSA on similar incidents. Please advise.

14 Other Fuel System problem of the 2013 Acura TL

Failure Date: 05/01/2013

The fly by wire throttle system is inconsistent in application. Sometimes in traffic when you need to accellerate, instead of lenier application of the throttle, the car waits several heartbeats before anything happens. Then catchs up to the pedal position , which if you've tried to move forward and nothing happened and you've keep pushing the pedal now you're instantly at half thottle in heavy traffic. Acura says this is the way the car was designed and theres nothing they'll do about it.

16 Other Fuel System problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/10/2012

Turned corner in large center city and hit a construction large pot hole and/or obstruction on the left rear. After completing turn onto a narrow one-way street acceleration increased, brakes did not work, engine could not be turned off, gears could not move. After going through two major intersections without accident I kept pulling on the emergency brake. The car slowly stopped and was then perfectly normal. Could use the brakes, shift, etc. I parked overnight in a garage. Had the car towed to dealer the next day (7/21/12), where it is still unresolved. Dealer said car is ok, but is now being analyzed by Acura corporate engineers. I had three other people who were in the car at the time, including my wife, who will not ever go into this car. The car was only 10 days after purchasing.

18 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/05/2012

Driving on highway and gas petal failed to operate proper. . . . After slowing down to about 20 mph it started up again and I regained the speed of about 60. Then in abourt 2 miles it happened again, I got off the highway and took to the closest Acura dealer. They replaced the app sensor and noted "pedal position sensor failure" the pedal positionm sensor was replaced. This happened on June 5, 2012, then on September 3, 2012 I was parking in our office parking lot and the gas petal accelerated as I was putting the gear shift in the park postion. I accelerated so fast I hit the concrete stop took off airborn went over the embankment and down to the street below. Needless to say the car entire front end was wrecked. The seat belt did indeed save me from more serous injury than I did received.

19 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/30/2010

The warning light "tighten gas cap" comes one every so often with no understanding of why. Have talked to Acura dealer who stated to replace gas cap, ignore it and/or replace valve in motor. When looking on the internet as to why this is happening, I am amazed at the number of owners of 2007 Tl's who are having the same problem. It has something to do with emissions. Acura wants $500 to make this light go away. But on the internet threads I have read that some people have had their cars repaired to only have the warning light come back on. Acura should fix this since so many people are having this problem at no charge.

20 Other Fuel System problem of the 2005 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/08/2010

On four separate occasions I have applied the brakes to either come to a stop or to decelerate the car, and the result has been a sharp increase in engine revolutions and resultant torque. In short the car wants to lurch forward. This event has happened to two drivers of this vehicle. There has been a time when approaching a light and the engine did not rev until the car was at a complete standstill, and another when the engine revolutions sharply increased the moment the brake pedal was actuated. The incident was first reported to the dealer's service department on January 16, 2009. The car was test driven by an Acura technician and the incident did not replicate itself. The brakes were found to be fine. No codes were found. The technician also checked Acura tech line for similar concerns and found none. The Acura Tl was bought in again after the latest incidence, February 8, 2010 and again a test drive with a technician did not replicate the condition. No trouble codes were stored in memory. In every instance this event has occurred the only solution has been to bring the car to a complete stop regardless of how hard the car want to lurch forward, or if there is traffic around, put the transmission into neutral, and tap the accelerator. Immediately after tapping the accelerator, the engine revolutions immediately lower to a natural idle.

21 Other Fuel System problem of the 2007 Acura TL

Failure Date: 09/10/2007

I have a 2007 Acura Tl type s. . A couple of month after purchasing the vehicle while driving to work one day my fuel system light came on stating that I need to check my gas cap. . So I pulled over and make sure that my gas cap is tight which it was. . So I shut off the vehicle and restarted it again. The light was still on. . So I decide to take the car to the dealer each time I take it there . . I get the ar back the assurance that I would not happen again. . Till this day the problem still exist and I had spoken to other type s owners and they are having similar problem with their Acura Tl type s vehicles.
