1 Wheel problem of the 2014 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/05/2021

My 2014 Acura Tl with 36,000 miles has developed serious aluminum alloy wheel corrosion and metal peeling on all four (4) wheels and results in intermittent tire pressure loss. The Acura company refuses to replace at their cost the defective material alloy wheels which cost and the dealer is requesting per wheel $357. 00 plus 245$ plus labour and for new tire pressure sensors located inside on the mag wheels. I believe that they did not use the proper balancing weights which are clearly recommend that Acura weights be used. I have investigated the cause of this problem by consulting with automotive engineers and it is certainly in their view related to poor quality mag surface coating which causes moisture to enter in between the rim and wheel thus resulting in wheel corrosion and loss of tire pressure which when driving can result in a serious accident. Yes, tire pressure waring lights came on frequently. The dealer did inspect the and notice the corrosion last fall (2020). It is in their files and noted on my invoice. Please note that I live in quebec canada j0e 1b0.

3 Wheel problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 01/02/2019

~tl the contact owns a 2008 Acura Tl. While the vehicle was making a left turn, the ball joints and axle fractured and the wheel detached from the vehicle. The vehicle was towed to an independent mechanic who diagnosed that the axle and ball joints failed and fractured due to the weight of the vehicle. The mechanic replaced the ball joints and axle. The vehicle was repaired. On another occasion, while reversing the vehicle, the contact heard a pop sound. When he stopped the vehicle, it dropped to the ground. The contact noticed that the wheel was leaning at a sixty degree angle and the fender was bent outwards. The vehicle was currently parked on the side of the road. The dealer and manufacturer were not contacted. The failure mileage was 142,000.

4 Wheel problem of the 1997 Acura TL

Failure Date: 07/14/2018

Although my car is about 20 years old now, I've done a lot of research about the problems I've experienced and it appears cars made from 1997 experienced malfunctioning ignition switches. My key will not start my engine and has gotten stuck inside the cylinder many times. I just replaced the battery as well due to my vehicle stalling when I turn it on. There should be no reason other than the faulty machinery that's giving me all this trouble. Many of the people who have this make, model, and year have expirenced these exact issues. I believe you guys have issued a recall which is why I'm informing the company. Hopefully you can help. Thank you .

8 Wheel problem of the 2003 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/16/2016

Rust through condition on right sub-frame supporting engine, transmission, right front suspension. Air conditioning condenser drain tube drips condensation/water directly onto this area of the sub-frame causing severe corrosion and eventually part failure leaving engine, transmission, right front suspension without proper alignment and support that can happen at any speed. Acura denounced any knowledge of this problem. Left side of same part is not effected at all. Internet search has discovered numerous instances of this problem. TSB has been issued for 1999-2002 Honda accord cars with this same problem. But manufacture's solution was to move the location of the drain tube in future model years of the car. I paid an independent repair shop $2,600 to replace the rear sub-frame section. The dealership wanted to replace both front and rear sub-frames but the front section was not effected and did not require replacement. The repair shot I took my car to to have the work done praised the car for being spotless underneath except for the effected area. Problem was discovered on August 16, 2016.

9 Wheel problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/13/2016

The "check tpms" warning light keeps on coming on and off irregularly, and the tpms displays very wrong tire pressure measurement numbers. I checked the tires manually, and read their pressure all around 33 psi while the tpms displayed the right front tire pressure as 58 psi.

Insurance company didn't total car in first claim and came back adding another 1000 to claim which would have totaled car all together. . Now I can't trade and vehicle isn't worth but half of what was paid bc of air bag deployment.

11 Wheel problem of the 2006 Acura TL

The contact stated that while driving approximately 65 mph, there was an abnormal noise coming from the front passenger side wheel and the vehicle started to veer to the left. The contact discovered that the lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic and confirmed that the passenger side lower control arm was fractured. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was 70,000.

12 Wheel problem of the 2005 Acura TL

Failure Date: 06/16/2015

Without provocation or shock of any kind my left front wheel separated from the car while driving in the left lane of I-64 w near nitro wv. The aluminum wheel assembly broke at all five spokes with the center still firmly bolted to the drivetrain.

13 Wheel problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 05/30/2015

My 2008 Acura Tl's compliance bushings were found to be cracked. However, what makes me report this to the NHTSA is the fact that Acura's 2004-2008 Tl compliance bushings consistently crack, posing a danger to the car's occupants, and any surrounding cars. The cracked compliance bushings pose a danger because it becomes possible for the lower control arm to come loose, causing the collapse of the respected wheel, posing a threat to traffic. On another occasion, a 2004-2006 Acura Tl's wheel collapsed in the middle of a crowded street, and thankfully other cars were able to avoid the Tl, however, a bigger issue could arise if this were to happen on a highway, or if a driver couldn't avoid the Tl. Nhtsa, please look into this issue. It's a pricey fix at dealers, and Acura should take this into consideration.

14 Wheel problem of the 2008 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/30/2015

Driving on 301 north bound just before cederville road and just before 7-11 and wawa far left lane there is a massive sink hole . Damage area on my car is front driver wheel .

15 Wheel problem of the 2010 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/15/2014

In January 2014 I purchased an Acura certified 2010 Tl base with bridgestone turanza tires on it. The quality of bridgestone tires were unacceptable. These tires had no grip on wet road and road covered with light snow. One day, all of a sudden, one of the tires lost pressure to 0 psi. When I took it to nearest firestone, I was told the tire was repaired too many times by previous owner and could not be repaired. In fact there were three repairs within one inch - which is illegal in illinois per firestone. Acura purchased this vehicle from previous owner but failed to inspect the tires properly during certification process. When I contacted Acura, someone left a voice mail, but when I called back and left a voice mail to call me back, no one got back to me. Due to safety concerns, I had to replace all four tires within a few months of purchasing the vehicle. Acura should not use bridgestone tires in its vehicles. Also, firestone/bridgestone should recall these tires and refund money for the replacement cost of my tires. Will appreciate if you please look into this issue. Please note that we own two Acura vehicles - a 2009 mdx and a 2010 Tl and both came with bridgestone tires and both had tire related problems. However, Acura or bridgestone will not take any responsibilities.

16 Wheel problem of the 1999 Acura TL

Failure Date: 03/31/2014

Yes my 1999 Acura 3. 2 Tl has the tcs light staying on in the vechile I went and had it plugged into a code checker and the read out was that the wheel speed sensor was bad but before that I was driving down the road( this is just one of 5 experiences I know of) when my car just died and it didnt want to crank back. It had never happened to me before I then began reading the owners manual and had to manually reset the cars computer ( I guess is what it is called) by pushing the shift lock in manually and pulling the car down into neutral and waiting about 5-15 seconds and placing it back up into park if the d4 indicator did not light up I then had to pull it back down into neutral while pressing the shift lock switch and then place it into d4 and back up into park most of the time it would reset its self and I could crank it in neutral but sometimes it would take me 2-3 minutes and now it seems to be getting longer and longer before it will reset itself this last time it took me approximentaly 10-15 minutes to reset the seitch to were I could turn the ignition and the car would turn over and crank. I.

20 Wheel problem of the 1996 Acura TL

Failure Date: 05/11/2013

May 2013, on a straight road, at 8:55pm. Motorist traveling towards me speeding with bright lights on. Motorist made contact with my car on passenger side fender and door. Motorist hit and ran and later told police she thought she hit an object. At the time of impact there was a loud explosion as the airbags deployed, darkness, an awful smell, smoke, I could not see, I lost control of the car as the car veered across the street to on- coming traffic. I thought I had died, but as the car stopped in the grass, I felt the brakes and realized I had not died. I exit the car coughing as my chest felt like it was on fire, I could barely see, my eyes were burning, then I realized I was hit. Neighbors came and offered to help; I told them that I was not feeling any pain, yet . After effects: burn on both forearms, right side of face felt like someone slapped with an object-like a hot bath towel, feeling of dust in my eyes, watery eyes, loss of taste of food, constant tiredness, feeling lethargic even 9 months later, severe pain and numbness in right leg and right arm, lower back pain not severe, the urge to keep my eyes close, cannot remain asleep for extended period, and when I wake I want to keep my eyes close, three times did not go to work because my heart palpitating all day like I am having an heart attack, used a cake because I was limping.

22 Wheel problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Failure Date: 01/26/2013

Purchased car on 01/21/2013. Was back at dealer on 01/26/2012 due to a weird vibration at high speeds (50-80 mph). Long story short they have balanced the tires like 3 times and put new tires but it is still vibrating not as much but still. Going back to dealer to see what they have to say this time.

23 Wheel problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Vehicle have a vibration on a gas pedal and steering wheel over 70mph. It did not go away after rebalancing. I purchsed a set of aftermarket wheels, vibration still there. Dealer won't fix.

24 Wheel problem of the 2006 Acura TL

Failure Date: 08/01/2012

I own a Acura Tl 2006 car, the driver side rear wheel's brake caliper has failed and it does not retract the break piston therefore the brakes always being applied. This is causing the wheels to be super heated and severe burning smell coming out of the car's rear area. Having talked to the dealer, I was told this is a safety hazard but they will not fix it unless I pay $350.

25 Wheel problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/22/2012

I purchased a new 2012 Acura Tl on 2/8/12. Each day I drive 35 miles to and from work on interstate 75 with a posted speed of 70 mph. Within a few days I noticed that when the car reached 70 mph a persistent high frequency vibration came up through the driver's side floor and in particular through the accelerator pedal. By the time I reached work or home my entire right foot and calf was numb and buzzing. It felt as though I had 'fallen asleep" and caused the nerves to be temporarily non-functional. I took the car to the dealer and they told me the tires were out of balance, however, when they checked them they were not. Then they told me that the front right tire had a tear in it and it would have to be replaced. They ordered a new tire and installed it and tried to charge me $399 but thankfully the manager gave it to me a no cost. The car has been to the dealer six times. At the dealer urging I opened a complaint with Honda headquarters. File number b012012-04-1601260. The representative I dealt with was "parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia),5 u. S. C. 552 (b) (6) who can be reached at "parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia),5. U. S. C 522 (b) (6). Three calls were recorded by Honda. One of the senior persons at the dealership confided in me that everyone at Acura knows about this problem and there is no fix. "parts of this document have been redacted to protect personally identifiable information pursuant to the freedom of information act (foia), 5 u. S. C. 522 (b)(6) told me the same. She actually called the vibration a "vehicle characteristic. " vibration at 70 mph is not a good thing and in time it may lead to catastrophic consequences. Both Acura and the dealer refused to buy me out of this vehicle and so last Saturday I traded out to another car at a substantial cost to myself. Updated 07/09/12.

26 Wheel problem of the 2012 Acura TL

Failure Date: 02/01/2012

I bought my Tl in oct of 2011. About a month later I noticed a chip in the lower rear door frame which I applied some touch up paint to. Well the chips keep showing up in the same area of the lower rear door frame. I have about 8 on the passenger side and six on the driver side. The dealership believes that the front tires are throwing rocks and hitting in this part of the car. The rear quarter panels need to be repainted now to fix the chips. The dealership wants to install mud flaps (flares) on the tires and a paint film to the door edge. This is going to have to come out of my pocket. The dealership told me that this is not an isolated issue, other customers are having the same problem. This is a design error to me and I believe Acura should fix it. So far they won't even think of it since it's a rock. But the car is doing this to it's self.
