2 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/15/2021

While driving at 60 mph in left lane of highway, without warning, the vehicle slowed and lost all acceleration and slowed, and then a series of warnings lit up on the screen including: electronic parking brake error, a transmission warning pertaining to the zf 9 speed transmission that demanded driver to pull over to the side to avoid major damage, and emissions failure warning. Then numerous other warnings displayed indicating collision warning system issues, and warnings that other driver safety systems had disengaged or failed. The transmission automatically switched to neutral (which I could only figure out 10 seconds later) as the accelerator would rev the engine but provide no motive force, making changing lanes across 3 lanes of traffic on a busy highway very dangerous as my car decelerated relatively quickly to fast moving highway traffic. After I pulled over and stopped the car, I tried turning off the car and restarting the car, and the transmission error and emissions system error was immediately displayed and prevented the vehicle from being put into drive. I tried to get a hold of the Acura towing service but was stuck on hold for 20 minutes and hung up. I started the car once again, and no errors were shown. I was able to drive 1/2 a mile and the transmission once again disengaged into neutral and emissions system warning came up again and I pulled over once again. I once again waited 20 minutes and restarted the car and drove 3 miles to a shopping center parking lot and let the car sit for 1. 5 hours. When I returned, I started the car and everything seemed fine, and I was able to drive 35 miles home with the emissions system warning and transmission system warning displaying but the car remained in gear. I took the car to the dealer the next day (with the car still covered under extended warranty), and Acura performed a software update (pgm-fi and tcm and pcm idle learn updates), for which they initially said I was responsible to pay for.

3 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

In 2017 I had the car lose throttle power when pressing the gas pedal and every light in the car began to flash. I let off the pedal several times and tried accelerating again and this did not work. I pulled over to the side, put the car in park and turned it off. After about 15 minutes or so of trying the car finally started. But the check engine light was still on and so was the warning of "emissions system problem" and "emergency parking break problem". The next day I dropped the car off at Acura. They called the next day and told me the car had malfunctioned and tripped the sensors but they cleared the codes and everything was fine. They also tried to blame my lengthy roadtrip for the malfunction. When you spend 40,000 dollars on a car that has 6,000 miles on it you do not expect a "malfunction" but I accepted the result and walked away. In 2018 it happened again. The lights began to flash and I lost all throttle respone. But suddenly the car downshifted into 4th gear(going 60mph) and was sitting at about 4500 rpms and I was unable to shift but regained throttle response so I pulled over. I allowed the car to sit for about 15 minutes and the car started with no problems. I did not take the car to the dealer this time because all of the lights had cleared overnight. In June 2019 this had happened again for the last time and I took the car straight back to Acura and told them to figure it out. They called me 2 days later and told me they had to update my transmission control module. That was covered under warranty and said they fixed it. So I assumed the problem was fixed and I was extremely happy. But now just the other day August 19th 2019 the throttle lost complete power again except this time no lights came on. I pulled over to the side turned the car off and back on with no issues. Could you please help with this matter. Thank you very much for you time!.

5 Automatic Transmission Control Module problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 12/23/2017

Went in for a recall notice I received for my 2015 Acura Tlx specifying a possible faulty transmission in car - went to go have it looked at. Determined by tech that car was not experiencing exact issue in recall but car should have a tcm software update since it was jerking at the 2-3 shift. When I received the car back it was 10 times worse! still jerking but now was jumping on every downshift every single time the car decelerates on every shift! this is a safety concern that is very serious and needs to be addressed by Acura - a new transmission should be called for since the car is under warranty. The car also just goes to 2-3 rpm's just while sitting idle in park now - my car's transmission is completely wrecked due to this tcm software update. Already called Acura to request a formal complaint - they told me to notify you as well. - mark samely.
