Failure Date: 08/26/2025

While I was driving in the fwy I tried changed lanes and needed to speed so that incoming car wouldn’t hit me but my car was stalling. It has happened 3 times!!! I took it to the dealership and they said it’s the camera and that they don’t have the part on stock. I asked for a rental car meanwhile we wait for the part and they said they can’t do that. I stated to them that the car is dangerous not only for me but for the public if I keep driving it like that. They said there’s nothing they can do!.

2019 Acura Tlx 28k miles - was slowing pulling into a parking spot in a parking garage downtown san diego. Suddenly the car had no brakes while pressing the brake pedal to the floor with no resistance from the brakes, the car start revving hard and accelerating very fast. I stopped by hitting a brick barrier. Steering wheel and knee airbags deployed. Fortunately I arrived at work early that day and did not hit anyone or any other cars. 8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/06/2024

While driving on the freeway/highway my vehicle went into limp mode and shifted into neutral. My vehicle would not allow me to shift gears and the car would not let me accelerate anymore. I had to think quickly and move out from upcoming traffic. With little speed I had on my vehicle I could only shut down the car and wait for a tow truck. This happened to me twice in 2020 and the mechanics could not find any issue or replicate what had happened. They said this was a software issue. I was still scared to drive my car thinking this would happen again. Then 2 years after ( 2024) again this happened and it was when I was on the freeway. Luckily I was on the left side and was able to stop on the shoulder but stressing out and still traumatized from what occurred 2 years ago. I took it to the dealer and same thing they could not replicate the issue and did re programmed the software. I believe this car is not safe to drive at all knowing this can happen again and again at random times. The attached document is what the dealer gave me stating this remedy was done to the vehicle. This need to be investigated.

The vehicle was taken to the dealer; however, the failure was not duplicated. The contact stated that the vehicle was taken to several different dealers over a dozen times, however the failure was not duplicated. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired by an independent mechanic or the dealer. The manufacturer was made aware of the failure and a case was filed. The manufacturer had an electrical technician to inspect the vehicle; however, the failure was not duplicated. The failure mileage was approximately 2,000.

10 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2018 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 11/30/2023

I've had multiple failures on this vehicle. First, the engine had a rod knock and Acura gave me a very hard time approving the repair and eventually replacement of the engine. Second, the adas system is not working and is a huge safety concern. I keep getting error messages that my road mitigation and lane keeping assist systems do not work. Third, the abs module system cannot communicate with my ecu and is not working properly. Another safety concern as this controls a lot of the wheel speed sensors, brakes, etc on this vehicle. A quick google search for Acura Tlx abs module repair will bring up pages and pages of people complaining about this very same problem yet Acura is not doing anything about it. This problem also affected other models such as the tsx, tl, rl, and the oddysey. I've taken my vehicle to several mechanics and they all state that this is a very common problem in Honda/Acura. I'm not sure how Honda/Acura can risk the lives of their customers in this way but it is not safe as this vehicle is my daily commuter that I use for my family.

13 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/01/2023

While driving approx 65 mph on a freeway the vehicle placed itself into neutral and decelerrated as multiple warnings flashed across dashboard. . . “emissions system problem”, “transmission system problem”, “electric parking brake problem”. I was able to pull off to the side of an exit ramp but once I put the car in park I could not shift into drive. I could not safely drive/manuever my vehicle to a safer area putting myself and child at risk of being hit. I turned the car on/off multiple times to attempt to shift into drive, but to no avail. I called the nearest Acura dealer which was in the next town over from where I was stranded. After many failed attempts I was able to put the car in drive and move my vehicle to the closest road and off to the side but with the warnings still flashing. The last successful attempt I was able to put the car in drive again and without any further warnings flashing on dashboard. Drove 20 minutes to the nearest Acura dealer and was charged $300 for the diagnosis and update of 3 systems. Informed dtc code p0657, actuator supply voltage circuit/open, was found prior to system updates: transmission control module update, pgm-fi update, and abs system update.

14 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Switching gears is weird sometimes and sport plus mode revs engine.

15 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 04/27/2022

I was merging on to the freeway going about 60mph, with traffic right behind me. Car started decelerated and the dash board lit up. A car behind me had to swerve to avoid hitting me. I put on my hazard lights and tried to move to the shoulder the car was only going about 5mph at the time. I turned the car off and restarted to see if it would move, but it was still going about 5mph. After doing this a couple of times I was able to get the car the move at about 20 mph. The dash board is still lit up.

17 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 05/01/2021

When driving on a windy road around 40mph the car went into limp mode causing the car to suddenly decelerate to 5 mph which nearly caused an accident by the car behind me. The car then started displaying multiple error codes on the dash (electric parking brake problem, emissions system problem, brake system problem, brake hold system problem, vehicle stability assist problem, hill start assist problem, lane departure warning problem).

18 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 12/01/2020

While driving I noticed that my car didn't seem to shift correctly. I pulled over and accelerated again. Got to my destination and noticed the car wasn't moving harldy as I pulled up to park. Once I parked, I put it in reverse to pull up again and it was making a loud noise and jerking when I put it in reverse. I did this like 3 times to try and figure out what was going on. After about 4 hours I went to leave my destination and it shifted into reverse just fine. I was relieved until after about 5 minutes of driving and then every light illuminated on the dash and the car wasn't accelerating as it should have been. The rpm's were going up but car was barely moving. I made it home but now sick to my stomach because I have no idea what this could be. Not sure if it needs to be towed to a shop or if I can or should drive it if possible.

19 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 07/18/2020

I saw a mechanic and figured out the problem on the 21st of July. I checked on Acuras website and there was a notice that they recalled this car last year with the same exact thing that my car was diagnosed with and my car is malfunctioning and there is nothing they can do about it because my VIN does not have a recall on it even though I have the exact problem of their recall. My car is malfunctioning and I called headquarters client relations and they told me they can do nothing about it and that if I want it fixed then I have to fix it myself. I was driving on a high way when all the lights turned on in my car. My brake system says it failed my transmission light is on, my park brake is flashing, lane assist popping up. I was driving home form lake tahoe on a curvy road with my speed being 40-50. Many cars driving super fast when all of a sudden my car dropped to 20mph. My Acura would not go past 20mph and my life and my passengers were in serious danger!.

20 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 06/05/2020

Was driving down interstate 70 at approximately 75 miles an hour. My cruise control was set and I was going up a small hill and out of nowhere my car decelerates down to about 50-60 miles an hour and it won't shift into gear/turn over and is making a grinding/revving noise. Almost all of the warning lamps and messages started flashing when this happened. There were cars behind me and next to me on the interstate when this happen and could have caused a serious crash given that the car decelerated and stopped functioning in the middle of the road. I had to pull over on the side of the interstate and I immediately called the dealership to see what was going on and if the car was safe to drive. I took my car to the Acura dealership either that same day or the next day and they claimed they didn't know what the issue was and told me that they reset the mainframe and that would take care of the issue. It did not take care of the issue and this problem has continued to happen multiple times. With the most recent time that this issue occurred they told me that I needed to buy a new battery and that would take care of the issue. I purchased a new battery and 2 days later the same thing as above happened again while driving 75 miles down the interstate the car decelerates and about causes me to crash. Prior to this situation happening in 2020, there was an issue with my battery and when my car would go into idle mode at stoplights/stop signs, it would die in the middle of the road and I would have to wait a few minutes before it would start back up.

21 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 12/21/2019

I was driving on a residential street approx. 10 mph and turned into a driveway. There was another vehicle parked ahead. I stopped hard on my brakes but my car didn't stop and hit the parked car. As it happened so quickly, I must have turned the steering wheel, continued to press on the brakes but ended up also hitting a building.

22 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 11/06/2019

From a stopped position, moving forward my vehicle hesitated and decreased in power and the gas pedal did not help moving the vehicle forward. This happened in the middle of the intersection for several seconds 10-15 before the vehicle started moving forward again. From a moving position, I was going around a right-hand slight curve going approximately 45-50 mhp and the vehicle failed to keep power, speed decreased, and then began working again after several scary seconds. The main problem I have is when accelerating, the fuel seems like it is not processed correctly to allow my vehicle to accelerate. This is a dangerous mechanical issue that has happened more than ten times. I have contacted the dealership but they said my VIN was not in the listing of recalls. I am clearly having the same problems as many other Acura Tlx owners. Additionally, when I push the start button it did not start the vehicle. This has happened 3 times as of Nov 2019. My vehicle should be listed with the recalled listing of other 2016 Tlx Acura vehicles.

23 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/19/2019

In 2017 I had the car lose throttle power when pressing the gas pedal and every light in the car began to flash. I let off the pedal several times and tried accelerating again and this did not work. I pulled over to the side, put the car in park and turned it off. After about 15 minutes or so of trying the car finally started. But the check engine light was still on and so was the warning of "emissions system problem" and "emergency parking break problem". The next day I dropped the car off at Acura. They called the next day and told me the car had malfunctioned and tripped the sensors but they cleared the codes and everything was fine. They also tried to blame my lengthy roadtrip for the malfunction. When you spend 40,000 dollars on a car that has 6,000 miles on it you do not expect a "malfunction" but I accepted the result and walked away. In 2018 it happened again. The lights began to flash and I lost all throttle respone. But suddenly the car downshifted into 4th gear(going 60mph) and was sitting at about 4500 rpms and I was unable to shift but regained throttle response so I pulled over. I allowed the car to sit for about 15 minutes and the car started with no problems. I did not take the car to the dealer this time because all of the lights had cleared overnight. In June 2019 this had happened again for the last time and I took the car straight back to Acura and told them to figure it out. They called me 2 days later and told me they had to update my transmission control module. That was covered under warranty and said they fixed it. So I assumed the problem was fixed and I was extremely happy. But now just the other day August 19th 2019 the throttle lost complete power again except this time no lights came on. I pulled over to the side turned the car off and back on with no issues. Could you please help with this matter. Thank you very much for you time!.

24 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/05/2019

Vehicle was traveling at approximately 60mph on the highway when the engine suddenly revved to the redline. A transmission too hot notification came up on the speedometer display. Vehicle had no power and was unable to accelerate. Vehicle kept revving until it was pulled to the side and shut down. After that, we were unable to start the vehicle. Car was towed to a repair shop and was diagnosed. Later, they took out the engine and confirmed that the flywheel had been sheared off. Vehicle is not under warranty, so Acura refused to take any responsibility, although this is clearly a manufacturing defect.

25 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 06/28/2019

Car has an auto idle reduction installed to save energy. However, the idle is set so low that when you try to start out after stopping for a traffic light, the car stalls continuously.

26 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2019 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 04/02/2019

I live in colorado and use paddle down shift to gear down for slowing on declines. When I do that, the car acelerares for a few seconds before slowing down. This is a very dangerous situation because you believe you are slowing to avoid running into the car in front and instead you increasing speed toward the back of the car in front. Acura customer service say that is the way the car is designed, but does not defend the logic of that design. I can not believe that this has not caused serious situations and accidents.

27 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 02/15/2019

The contact owns a 2016 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that while driving 20 mph, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. 28 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 11/15/2017

Driving on the expressway at 70 mph, the car starts sputtering then decelerated, it would not accelerate even while pressing the gas pedal. I pulled off to the emergency lane and the lights started flickering, warning lights appeared "check hill start assist system", "check emission system", "check power steering system", "check brake hold system", "check brake system", and "check parking brake system". After sitting in the emergency lane after about 30 seconds, the car shut off. Extremely dangerous situation. It was diagnosed as a battery with a dead cell. Amazingly, of all the lights that illuminated, I never received any warning that I had dead battery. The battery light did not come on until the other warning lights came on. This happened at 35,246. This is the second time the car has been at the service center in less than 10 months.

29 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

The contact stated that the manufacturer had exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The contact stated that the vehicle failed to start intermittently. The contact stated that while driving at various speeds, the vehicle failed to accelerate as needed. The contact stated that while driving at approximately 65 - 70 mph, the vehicle began to decelerate with several unknown warning lights illuminated. The failure lasted less than a minute before self-correcting, and the vehicle was driven without failure. The failure had occurred several times while driving at various highway speeds. The dealer was contacted. The dealer informed the contact that parts were not available and would not be available until 2025. The manufacturer was made aware of the issue and stated that while speaking to the dealer, the contact was informed that vehicles that were experiencing the failure were being repaired. The approximate failure mileage was 10,000. Parts distribution disconnect.

30 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 09/24/2017

I was driving at approximately 70 mph in iowa on a 4-lane (non-interstate) when multiple fault lights appeared on the vehicle dash, and the on-board computer abruptly slowed the vehicle's speed to 40 mph or less. Repeat, abruptly. Fortunately I was not on an interstate amid a pack of 18-wheelers running nose-to-tail at 70+ mph, which could have resulted in a major accident! later I found that the push-button transmission selectors (jpeg photo attached) can be affected by debris such as crumbs, sand, or liquid. See the attached Acura servicenews article #b17010c version #2, dated February 2017 (pdf file attached). . Read more...

31 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 03/20/2017

New car purchased in 2015. Currently has about 23k miles. Error lights flash on dash including "transmission system problems, blind spot info system problems, vehicle stability assist problem, all wheel steering problem, forward collision warning problem, lane departure waring problem". This is the third time that it has happened. First time, no video evidence of it but we did take it in to Acura to look. No issue found. Second time we had a video, they did a software upgrade. 33 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 03/31/2016

The transmission is jerky, clunky, bounces to a stop, bounces and lurches forward when stopping, will take 2-3 seconds to respond to pedal push and then take off. It's very dangerous in stop and go traffic. It's very dangerous when stopping for pedestrians. It's very dangerous when driving, period. 35 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Acura TLX

Failure Date: 08/13/2015

Yes, you guys are on point! I had my 2015 Tlx v4 advanced pack. And every single complaint I read on here I have! this is very nerve wrecking! I took in my Acura two weeks ago to sherman oaks center Acura, where I originally purchased the vahicle and explained everything that I was experiencing; e. I. Jerks, sudden revs, delayed upshift/downshift. The repair center personnel advised me that the vehicle just needed a "simple software update" and that not to be alarmed because Acura will have future updates. So when I went to pick up my car I noticed that the car felt as though I was driving my girlfriend's 10 year old corolla. The car is a f*** piece of s*** I tell you! it lags more and he vibrates too much! this is a safety hazard!.
