Acura TLX owners have reported 16 problems related to wiper (under the visibility category). The most recently reported issues are listed below. Also please check out the statistics and reliability analysis of Acura TLX based on all problems reported for the TLX.
The wipers come on by themselves and do not turn off. The engine may or may not start with the key fob nearby. All the dash warning lights come on with warnings about the brake system, the transmission, the steering, the adaptive cruise control all reporting a problem. The vehicle goes to limp mode and throttle response is severely reduced. There is some sort of water leak which is shorting out or causing the bcm or body control module to act erratically due to water from rain getting into the area because of improper weather sealant placed during manufacturing. There is a service bulletin that was put out in roughly April of 2024 that describes this issue affecting the 2021 Tlx models.

The backup camera on the rear simply went blurry one day, it’s now impossible to see out the camera. It worked one day then failed the next, this is a safety hazard now. I think these cameras should be required to always function. This is the camera on the trunk. It’s unsafe for me to see when back up.

It has camera issues where moisture or liquid can go inside, and it is very hard to see when I backup. I have contacted the dealer bodyshop to fix it since they repaired my bumper, but they said it is not their fault and they want more than $1000 to replace it. I did some research online, and a lot of people are having the same issue with poor quality with this brand. I never had camera issues with other brands.

Driving to work 3/19/20 at 7:15am. The sunroof shattered. The shade was open and glass shards covered my wife and the inside of the car. There were no vehicles within a 1/4 mile. There were no bridges she drove under within a mile. I called and spoke to the local Acura dealership asking if there was a campaign or recall or if this was a known issue. I was told to contact a collision center to get fixed as there was no warranty. I asked to speak with the service manager and have not heard back as of yet.

My car's sun roof suddenly exploded while driving on a highway - the glass shattered with a loud noise.
While driving the car in bright sunlight there is a clare reflection from the drivers and passenger's dashboard vents that reflects strongly on the interior side window right where the left and right side view mirrors are located. The glare can be very strong on sunny days that it makes it difficult to discern if a vehicle really is in the side view mirrors. This glare comes from the chrome vents outline. This is a systemic problem as I've driven three different 2016 Tlx all with the same issue. I have reported this issue to the Acura dealer where I bought it. They claim this is the first they knew about it. I asked them to present it to a regional manger for resolution. Interestingly Acura parts manuals have a black outlet vent (pn 77610tz3a01za) but none of the 2016 Tlx can be bought with a black outlet vent. I hope that this new part number is available to settle these significant safety complaints. This has been a problem on sunny days for the six months we have had the car. The only way to remove the glare is to have both front windows completely down.
Side view mirrors have a reflection of inside vents. This is very dangerous, when you have an obstructed view. Can cause serious accident. I could not see side view because of reflection.
The contact owns a 2016 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that the front vents caused a reflection in the side view mirrors causing the contacts vision to be obscured. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 78. The VIN was unavailable.
I just turned on to the highway, and there was not a car around me. I started to accelerate and then there was a huge sound, almost like a gun shot. I immediately pulled over and noticed that my sunroof was complete shattered with a gaping hole in the middle of it. I was completely dumbfounded because I wasn't underneath a bridge or anything other than the clear blue sky. There were no cars around me to say an object hit it either. Just completely shattered for no reason. The best part is that Acura refuses to replace the sunroof when this is clearly a manufacturer default. They claim that there is no way for them to verify that it wasn't caused by an object hitting it. I'm hoping more people report this issue so the sunroof can be recalled because not only is this complete bs. It is very dangerous. If the sunroof shade wasn't closed, I would have had class shards all over the car and myself that could have landed in my eye and caused injury or even worse and accident.
Tl-the contact owns a 2015 Honda Acura. The contact stated that the rear view mirror was set to auto dim which caused the driver not to be able to see out of the mirror. The vehicle was not diagnosed or repaired. The manufacturer was not made aware of the issue. The failure mileage was 100. Ad.
Sunroof glass shattered while driving down the road. There were no cars in front of me and I was only going 25 mph as I had just begun to accelerate. This could not have been a rock but a defect in the car. If the visor wasn't closed glass could have fell into the car and possibly cut someone. Acura needs to address this as this is not an object hitting the vehicle.
I've purchased a 2015 Acura Tlx approximately 1 week ago and the chrome outline on the air vents has an extreme glare when looking at the side mirrors. On Dec 5th 2014, I notified the service technician but he said that's the first he's heard of it and dismissed the complaint as faulty. This appears to be a design flaw and safety concern and needs to be remedied as the mirror should be showing me what is outside the car, not what is inside the car.
The side view mirrors have an odd reflection from the chrome components on the side or interior of the car. I have a brand new 2015 Acura Tlx awd.
Reflection rear view mirrors ac vent. Also abnormal shifts low speed.
The contact owns a 2015 Acura Tlx. The contact stated that the chrome piece on the air vents had an extreme glare that impacted the contact¿s visibility when using the side mirrors. The vehicle was taken to an authorized dealer. The technician verified the failure but was unable to remedy the problem. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the safety concern. The approximate failure mileage was 789.
