The contact owns a 2007 Acura Tsx. The contact stated while driving from a complete stop, the vehicle lost power steering functionality. There was no warning light illuminated. The contact stated that the failure had been recurring while driving. The vehicle was taken to an independent mechanic, where it was diagnosed that the power steering fluid hose was leaking. The contact related the failure to NHTSA campaign number: 10v174000 (steering) however, the VIN was not included. The dealer was notified of the failure and informed the contact that a fee would be charged for a diagnostic test. The vehicle was not diagnosed nor repaired. The manufacturer was not notified of the failure. The failure mileage was 126,250.
Power steering rack and pinion leaked and was replaced with an Acura remanufactured part. A few years later it is leaking again.
Power steering makes an extreme screeching sound and Honda dealership in eau claire, WI, says they cannot perform the recalls, and that I have to go to Acura, which is 2 hours away from me and cannot get there. I feel that Honda in eau claire should be able to do it.
Took the car for a test drive before I purchased it, no leaks and everything worked fine. The next morning I noticed a wet spot under the car, took it to the nearest shop and found out the power steering rack was leaking.
