1 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/01/2020

While driving on local road approaching an intersection that leads to an onramp in oakland CA, the steering became extremely rigid, it was almost impossible to control the car by turning the steering wheel. A warning light flashed rapidly on the display panel "steering system failure". Luckily I was driving at 5 to 10 mph and able to pull over. After about 30 seconds, the warning light stopped and the car's steering then performed normally. The problem occurred again within minutes and driving less than 2 miles. The mileage on the car is 66,100, the car auto oil change / b1 reminder was showing 5% remaining for the b1 service. I contacted Acura they would not accept responsibility for repairing the car even though this seems like a manufacture's problem,.

3 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2009 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 01/10/2020

Vehicle has thrown an engine code due to excess oil consumption due to sticky piston rings, advancement in timing and vvt advancements. Due to this engine code being thrown, the car deactivates vsa and also throws an emission control light. This causes the car to enter a state where it advances the rpm's at idle by a significant amount and burns more fuel. When leaving the car in drive but at a stop, the car will quickly accelerate nearly to 30 mph on a flat surface. In order to stop the car, the driver must excessively engage the brakes. Acura technicians have informed me that this is a known issue and is due to the piston seals being faulty, causing excessive oil consumption and loosing the timing chain to become out of sync. Engine will then enter a "limp" mode where car will idle higher, burn more fuel.

Check power steering system warning light came on after being parked for 9 hours in a parking deck at work. I took the key out and let the car sit for a while about 20 minutes and started the car again, but it did the same thing.

6 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2012 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 06/20/2017

Last week driving my Acura Tsx 2012 car home from work, suddenly the electronic power steering failed. I was driving on a winding road and mid sharp turn the power steering failed and I almost lost control and came close to crashing into the tree line on the side of the road. I had stop since my heart was palpitating so hard. I almost crashed into the tree line and would have been seriously injured or worse. Luckily my instincts kicked in and I was able to with all my might slow down the car and turn the wheel as hard as I could to avoid crashing. This is really dangerous and I am lucky that I came away unscathed. I took my car to the dealer and they told me that I needed to replace the whole electronic module which will cost approximately $1200 to fix/replace. This type of failure is very dangerous and something needs to be done about it.

8 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/16/2016

Was driving and service engine light came on and engine shut off, had to coast to side of 4 lane road, and won't restart, had towed to big al's @ 1408 n george washington hwy. Chesapeake, va. 23323. Phone # (757)485-9117. Mechanic vinney did several test, and reported it was the ecm unit or housing was bad and made a copy of the recall on 2004-2008 Acura Tsx, since it was what the codes indicated. Acura manufacturing said this car is not on recall, the car did just cut off, just as on NHTSA campaign # 13v093000. Would like to see if it is related to recall.

9 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2013 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 06/21/2016

The electronic steering module failed at 45000 miles. It is a very expensive fix and Acura is not willing to help. It appears to be a common problem because vehicles seem to be computers more than anything these days.

10 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2004 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 06/09/2014

It was 930 at night I was driving my car home to drop off going on vacation . . My car started stalling out and all lights went out. . As I braked my car jumped 3 to 5 feet. . It was like the brakes surged . . Lights flashing . . Very dangerous because if I would of been on my way to work on freeway I could of been in a dangerous accident. . The car did not stop when applied the brake instead it acted like I was pushing the accelator. . . I had to shut car out put in netural and have it pushed in my garage to prevent going through wall. . . I never heard of a alternator doing this. . My car was just at dealership aprox 3 wks before that for a recall . . (stalling ) they said it was not related to that. . .

11 Electronic Stability Control problem of the 2010 Acura TSX

Failure Date: 08/11/2010

In slippery conditions, such as rain, if you need to accelerate, the traction control cuts power practically completely, so if you are at a stop sign, and try to cross a busy intersection, if you can get the traction control to not engage you can move pretty quickly across the intersection, if it's engage, and it activates it's as though you took your foot completely off the accelerator, I've had a loaner car of the same make and model as mine, but it was an automatic, the manual transmission doesn't seem to work the same with the traction control as the automatic does. The automatic you can feel the car practically claw at the road to move faster, while the manual, power is just completely cut, it's quite dangerous.
