My 2016 Audi A3 sportsback e-tron vehicle was parked at my house. When I went to start it the engine did nothing, no power. The message “driver system fault” and a red triangle with a red ! in the middle was displayed on the instrument panel. I was unable to start or operate the vehicle. I called aaa and they towed the vehicle to a recharge hybrid pump location near my house. I tired to charge the battery and it would just turn off. Then I called aaa again and they towed my car back to my house and checked the small 12 volt battery to see if that was the problem, they determined that the 12 volt battery still had 75% life in it. They were unable to get my vehicle started. The same message is still on the dashboard “driver system fault. " the failure mileage is approximately 81,567. I want to know before I call the dealer and get it towed again if this issue is the hybrid high-voltage battery or the housing bonded seam could have lead to corrosion the service recall from a while ago. Service action code 93d2.

My 2015 Audi A3 1. 8t is experiencing the exact same failure symptoms and operational hazards as those described in Audi’s own warranty extension u49, which covers certain 2017 and 2018 Audi A3 and A3 cabriolet 2. 0 tfsi models. According to Audi’s bulletin, vehicles with faulty mechatronic units are eligible for replacement under an extended warranty due to safety concerns — sudden loss of drive, vehicle being stuck in neutral, and prnds flashing while in traffic. My vehicle is now exhibiting these identical symptoms: (1) sudden disengagement of all gears while driving when it tries to go to fourth gear. At this point, there is a (2) flashing prnds indicator and “reverse gear not available” message. (3) loss of ability to accelerate in moving traffic, requiring emergency maneuvers, and halting traffic. (4) temporary restoration of function after shutting off and restarting the engine, only for the problem to happen again. (5) check engine light. This is a serious safety hazard that puts both the driver and other road users at risk. The only reason my vehicle is excluded from the coverage appears to be its model year (2015), despite the fact that the mechatronic unit and failure mode are identical to the covered 2017–2018 vehicles. I believe Audi overlooked this issue in other year models and, as such, I respectfully request that the NHTSA investigate why Audi is limiting this safety-related repair to only certain VIN ranges and model years, when vehicles just a couple of years older are exhibiting the exact same dangerous defect. A sudden loss of propulsion at highway speeds is a serious risk that warrants broader manufacturer accountability. The company should fix this issue as soon as possible.

Audi had a recall on my 2018 A3 for a passenger occupant detection system. In July 2023, Audi replaced the pods sensor mat. Recently, the same car has encountered the same issue. The pods light indicates the airbag is off even if a passenger is sitting in the seat. There has been not repair work since July 2023, that would impact the pods. And the warning lights reappeared after a period of normalcy. I feel this is an incomplete recall remedy and Audi is now wanting to charge me for the repair.

1) electronic emergency brake goes on repeatedly when attempting to put vehicle in gear. 2) speed control has coasted to a very low speed while on the highway several times, on its own with no vehicles in front of me. 3) numerous other “glitchy” electrical issues exist. Dealer says they are collaborating with engineers in germany. There is currently no fix. It is as if the vehicle is always cycling through various “glitches”.

My 2023 Audi A3 with less than 3,000 miles completely stopped in the middle of a highway in saugerties, new york. 4 hours away from home. I had my dog and my little sister with me and in the freezing pouring rain we had to get out and redirect traffic/ try to find help. I called roadside assistance. They never came on Sunday may 28th and didn't call back till 10pm to say they couldn't get to us because of the 8 inch snow storm. We had no heat because the car would not turn back on. 5 ubers/ 3 lyfts and all taxis didn't come. Finally 1 uber came and took us to a nearby camp site where they allowed pitbull dogs. The next day, I had to call over 60 times to get someone to just tow my car to Audi albany. Audi albany would not drive me a loaner car because it was an hour away. With a lot of arguing Audi roadside/tow services finally allowed me to drive with the tow truck driver to Audi albany. They gave me a loaner but said I had to book another hotel night because I was not allowed to drive the loaner back to my home yet. I was stuck in saugerties NY for 2 nights 3 days. We both got sick from Sunday waiting for roadside assistance for over 5 hours.
Gear shift micro switch this is a documented issue recalled for vw and Audi vehicles between 2015-2019. Vw recalled all and still is fixing the issue in cars from those years, yet Audi decided to just offer an extended warranty to those cars for that specific issue. Who is responsible vw or Audi. If Audi is owned by vw and the issue is in both types of cars made by them, why aren't Audi vehicles included to the recall and repair.
The vehicle pre-sense stopped the vehicle due to the detection of an object however, there was no object. This happened going forward and in reverse multiple times, causing the car to come to a sudden, abrupt stop even at speeds in excess of 30mph. This resulting in my teen daughter having bruising from the seat belt. The car was taken to the dealership and the dealership recalibrated the control unit. The vehicle continues to unnecessarily activate pre-sense when in reverse, and causes the car to come to an abrupt halt despite there being no object. The system may be responding to shadows. Numerous returns to the service department continue to yield “no codes”. The pods system was recalled and this is a related system.
The passenger side break light and signal stop working occasionally. I took it to a certified Audi service center, and they were able to fix the issue but reported that the central wire system that makes the break light and signal work are defective and that the issue will continue given that the cables may move every time I close and open and close my truck as the cables run through there. This is a mayor safety issue.
The high voltage battery no longer charges to full. Only 7 out of 8 possible indicator bars are illuminated, the car now only shows 17-20 miles available. When I purchased the car 3 years ago, it showed 28-29 miles available. Car was at Audi dealership, got tested, Audi says it's within tolerance. I disagree, 30% to 40% of the capacity is lost so far. There are many more owners that are reporting the same issue on the facebook Audi A3 group.
While driving the alternator failed. The battery also failed. Multiple instances at the dealer trying to repair.

Answering questions above: -body control module fuse, possibly engine comopartment fuse box itself -intermittent exterior lighting outages -no dealer / independent service center has inspected -not been inspected by anyone -no warnings, just bulb-out warnings once the issue started longform description: last week, I was experiencing intermittent light outages on the right side of my car (2011 Audi A3 tdi) . It started Wednesday 3/22, during my morning commute to work, when I was exiting highway and turned on my right turn signal all the exterior lights on the right side of my car started flickering, and stopped. Same thing happened the next morning, except worse, applying my brakes would disable my right headlight. I stopped driving until the weekend when I drove over to get my car scanned for errors by a buddy of mine who has a diagnostic tool. It pointed to the body control module. With the car on, he gave the body control module fuse a light wiggle, and smoke started pouring out. He turned the car off and took out the fuse, one of the contacts melted into two pieces, and the plastic housing the fuse is full of bubbles. It seems that the engine fuse box for this car is poorly designed, and Audi knows this as they've updated the part, but no recall was started. A recall was initiated for a similar issue on tiguans manufactured around the same time (recall no. 13v569000). Crazy to think that while I was driving around, there could have been smoke pouring out of my engine compartment fuse box, seems pretty dangerous. And I'm not the only one as people online call this the "infamous Audi/vw melted fuse box issue".

Air bag light comes on when no on is in the passenger seat, the coolant light is coming on saying turn engine off when my coolant level is fine, the suspension cracks even though I have had this checked by Audi in birmingham, al. Multiple times.
Passenger air bag light intermittently comes on after starts. Car has been showing exact symptoms from the pods recall since I bought it in may, and I’ve tried to have this fixed by 3 separate Audi dealerships, and none of them have been able to fix it. At this point, this recall has now been active for over a year and a half, and I think it is absolutely ridiculous to have a non-functioning passenger seat in a “practical” hatchback. Thus, at this point, I would like to escalate this further and potentially fight for a buyback, as this is a recall that both devalues the car and puts my passenger (and potentially myself, as this one fault has most likely disabled the entire srs; granted I don’t want to find out for myself) at risk. The “no-passenger” fix would have worked for 30-ish days while Audi worked for a fix, but 1. 5 years is absolutely unreasonable and totally ridiculous for a $50,000+-msrp luxury vehicle from the Volkswagen Audi group.
Recall on this vehicle several years ago. Taken to the Audi dealership for repairs of the recall. No change after recall repairs completed. The airbag and seatbelt warning lights have continued to light up.
While driving on highway 59 my vehicle began to jerk. I tried to accelerate and the vehicle would ramp but not move fast. My check engine light came on as well as the error code “transmission malfunction you continue to drive until engine is off. ” after getting out of houston, texas rush hour traffic, I had my vehicle towed to a mechanic. The mechanic ran several tests and checked the engine. Upon diagnosing the vehicle, the scan tools gave a myriad of fault code relating to electrical valve faults. All of which clear when driving the vehicle again. The mechanic informed me the transmission was not the issue but the mechatronic system had failed due to a faulty part. The mechanic said the issue could be repaired but would likely occur again as Audi as a history of faulty mechatronic systems. The mechanic called an Audi dealership who stated Audi’s mechatronic control unite has not yet resolved the root cause failure at factory level, meaning all replacements and repair kit components still have the underlying defects that will cause malfunction, usually outside the short one-year manufacturer warranty. I believe Audi manufacturer knows their cars still have a defective part hence why an extended warranty on the mechatronic system is offered. Also, Audi vehicles made in 2016 were recalled due to a defective mechatronic system. My vehicle was made in early 2017. I called the Audi dealership to make them aware of the safety and they ignored me, and tried to sell me another vehicle. This is my second safety issue with Audi vehicles, the first being an expulsion safety issue. There is no way I am purchasing another Audi.
The auxiliary ptc electric cabin heater fails and causes an overheat/fire condition. We own a 2015 Audi A3 tdi premium plus sedan. This vehicle has a diesel engine. Audi fitted A3 models that have a diesel engine with an auxiliary electric cabin air heater. This heater helps to warm the cabin and provide defrost capabilities on days when the temperature is below 7 degrees c. This heater in our vehicle failed due to melting at the wiring harness connection lugs. This melting caused an overheating condition to occur. On cold days we would notice a terrible burning plastic, rubber smell coming from the air vents inside the cabin. Once the car was warmed up and the electric heater was disabled by the cars ecu (computer) the smell gradually went away. The process was repeated the next day, but the smell was worse. We took the vehicle to zimbrick european Audi in madison, WI. They found the electrical issue with the auxiliary electric cabin air heater. In researching this issue we found there are many user reports of the same failure on volkswagon Audi group vehicles. Audi issued a safety recall for the same problem on Audi a4, a5 and q5 vehicles under Audi safety recall code : 80c5 with the NHTSA document number being: rcrit-17v622-6265. Pdf this very same problem currently affects my Audi A3 tdi. I have found numerous other people reporting the same issue with vw golf tdi models, vw passat tdi models and jetta tdi models. Examples are located here: https://forums. Tdiclub. Com/index. Php?threads/burning-smell-from-heat. . Read more...
It has been nearly 9 months since this recall was issued. Audi cannot provide a remedy and cannot tell me when they can provide a remedy. I cannot transport a passenger in the front seat safely, and I cannot sell the car because Audi has issued a 'stop sell' order. Audi will not repurchase the car.
While driving the message “vehicle electronic system malfunction shift car to park before exiting vehicle. ” the car can fail to shift into gear, or change gears while the vehicle is in motion. The mechanic that I usually take my car to said that’s he’s seen the same message in some of his other customers cars. Sometimes it pops up when the car is started, other times is comes up when the car is in motion. I’ve parked the car and turned it off, and the message came back on after restarting the car.
Dsg transmission will abruptly shift down to first gear and would not respond in any other gear. The shift indicator in the dashboard will light up and blink and the check engine light will come on. There are no warnings before this happens and it will happen at random times. It has happen in separate occasions while traveling at different speeds. When this happens while traveling it creates a dramatic reduction on vehicle speed almost causing the vehicle traveling behind me to rear end me. Once stopped the car will only engage when put on d and will stay at a low gear causing the rpms to red line even at low speeds making it unsafe to drive due to only being able to reach 5 to 10 mph. A scan was performed and codes p1814 press. Ctrl. Valve 1 open circuit/short implausible signal, and, p1835 press. Ctrl. Valve 5 short circuit to b+. This fault is random and there is no warning or indication of when it may happen making the vehicle unsafe at any speed.

Audi baton rouge informed me there is a problem with coolant migration at coolant tank connector (coolant could leak into wire harness) and cause severe damage to electrical system want $300 +_ to repair. Since this is not something caused under normal conditions or negligence on my part I do not feel I should be responsible for cost of repair, should be a recall on Audi.
The engine low oil light keeps coming on, the oil has been changed already, I’ve had the car for more than 7 months I haven’t even driven it over 5000 miles yet. Audi needs to fix this. The power train is also the same, some days it works okay and some days it doesn’t. The cars struggles sometimes to even reach speeds up to 50 mph. I’ve taken this vehicle to the Audi dealship as well as to a foreign certified mechanic shop. They can’t figure out the problem. The engine light should not be coming on randomly when I have fully serviced the vehicle. Audi please fix these problems.
Tied to recall 69by dealership continues to say parts are not available.
“transmission malfunction/no reverse gear. Okay to continue driving” comes on constantly the past 2 years now. I’ve only had this vehicle 3 years. Yes , it is available for inspection. This puts my safety and the safety of my other passengers at risk because my vehicle will abruptly slow down in fast flowing traffic and it will uncontrollably accelerate when it’s time to come to complete stops. A local mechanic used a sensor to check for faulty defects and confirmed that my transmission is having sensor issues. There has never been any warning lamps , regarding this problem. There have been no prior warning messages regarding this issue. I purchased this vehicle from Audi dealership in van nuys, CA in November 2020. I have had this vehicle less than 3 years & as of now , it has less than 35,000 miles on it.
I was driving my car with my friend in the passenger seat. All of a sudden car started made a beeping sound and my dashboard said something about safety feature being turned off/limited. Also the passenger airbag off light turned on even when the passenger seat was occupied. The vehicle was already in motion. This created an unsafe situation as passenger airbag was off when it should not have been. The passenger occupant detection system (pods) detected a malfunction and switch off the passenger airbag even though the seat was be occupied. I reached out to Audi regarding this and they said that since the repair is not available yet I will have to wait. The NHTSA recall number for this issue is 21v198. The manufacturer recall number is 69by. I have attached the latest video of this situation. If you look at the video it shows that the passenger seat is occupied and still the passenger airbag off light is on. This is the 3rd occurrence of this issue. I use my car daily and since the repair is not available yet this makes my car unsafe on the road.

I purchased my 2016 Audi A3 in April of 2020 from Audi san diego. Less than a year later, I was getting airbag warning lights on my dash, as well as constant warning sounds when driving. I brought my vehicle into Audi san diego, and they "fixed" the issue free of charge. A few months later, I started getting the same warning lights/sounds - this time, the passenger airbag was turning on and off even while somebody was sitting in the passenger seat. I received a recall letter in the mail shortly thereafter. When I called in the summer of 2021 to schedule a service appointment, I was told there was not yet a remedy to this recall and that in the next few months I should receive a phone call to schedule service. Over a year later, I called Audi san diego to get an update (since I did receive a phone call as promised), and I am still told that there is no solution. For over a year now, I have been unable to have passengers in my front seat, due to the fear of the airbags not working in the event of a crash.
On initial start, occasionally the car will become inactive while driving (sometimes stalls/sputters & sometimes just doesn't advance even while pressing on the gas pedal). Often the car spontaneously responds within seconds if it has not stalled, but recently now it stalls and sputters, then needs to be restarted. I was pulling out of a parking lot into traffic with safe distance, when the car became "dormant" and stalled. Luckily, there was a center lane that I could coast into to avoid causing a serious accident. Upon restarting the vehicle, the screen displayed "start/stop system: malfunction". I shut off the system and drove home. The next morning, the car did the same exact thing- had just started up the car and began driving- and it lost all power to the gas pedal/we almost came to a complete stop- but the car was still running, then it quickly reset itself. This time my service engine soon light came on. I called the dealer and took it in for service. I was told that it was bad gas and that I needed to take it to certain gas stations -marathon or shell only and only put premium fuel in it (although the manual states that I can use 87 or 89). The car is unsafe and is dangerous to drive. I am putting myself and my occupants in danger and also the lives of others around me. I understand that there is a class action law suit that was filed in 2020- this cannot wait- there must be a recall- someone will get seriously hurt or even die because of this.
Took my car in a few weeks ago for a recall repair affecting the passenger airbag. The airbag was not able to sense when there was a passenger in the vehicle, and would randomly turn on/off even when there was a passenger in the vehicle. Had the error messages pop immediately on the way home from the dealer after their "fix". I took it back in today and they dealer said it was the actual pods sensor and it would cost $1,100 to repair! this was because the recall repair only included that wire connection. I drive my younger brother to school every day and do not think it's fair that Audi's recall only fixed half the problem - now there's no way to tell if the airbag is working properly and if my brother or any other passenger is safe in the car.
Passenger occupant detection system (pods) may detect a malfunction and switch off the passenger airbag even though the seat may be occupied. Cars battery has been replaced yet battery problems still occur.
