1 Tire problem of the 2018 Audi A3

Failure Date: 09/06/2025

225/45-r18 dot(17/22) on September 6, 2025, I purchased a 2018 Audi A3 (VIN [VIN], 56,634 miles) delivered by carvana. Within days, I had the vehicle inspected at multiple independent repair shops. Each shop documented that all four tires showed dry rot and cracking and advised immediate replacement due to risk of tire failure. On September 10, 2025, I contacted carvana and followed their warranty claim process. After escalation, on September 18, 2025, I was informed that carvana determined “the tires are not bad enough” and denied replacement. The vehicle was delivered with unsafe tires that pose a serious risk of blowout or loss of vehicle control, endangering both the driver and others on the road. Dot date codes and photos of the cracks confirm the condition of the tires at the time of delivery. This complaint is being filed so NHTSA is aware of the issue and to request investigation into carvana’s sale of vehicles with dry-rotted, unsafe tires.

2 Tire problem of the 2010 Audi A3

Failure Date: 02/16/2023

225/45zr1794w purchased at discount tire. Tpms system failed after tire installation. I told the technician and he reset the system. Five miles later tpms indicator came on. Malfunction tpms. I monitor the tire pressure periodically and the tires seemed fine. While driving on florida 528 to the airport I heard a rumbling and pulled over immediately. The tire sidewall was cut almost all the way around the tire. I assume from low pressure or tire malfunction. The tire is only a few months old. I am going to visit discount tire today and see what they say/do. I commute 150 miles a day at highway speeds. Fortunately I was able to pull over and not damage my rim. I removed the tire and put the spare on. I was flying to columbia south America and nearly missed my flight. I have not found any reason the tire lost air pressure. Because this tire was nearly new it should have held air. Had discount tire fully corrected the tpms system I may have been able to save the tire and not experienced the horrid experience of changing the tire on the highway 70 mph speed limit however the actual speeds are fom 80mph up. Fortunately I work for the orlando International airport and had a colleague park my car to avoid missing the flight. Had four road hugger ties on my Audi now 3 and a spare. Im not sure what the outcome will be but a brand new tire should not have deflated an had discount tire performed as professional technicians I most likely would not be contacting your organization. Thank your kurt klima 443 497 3637.

3 Tire problem of the 2016 Audi A3

Failure Date: 08/30/2021

On August 30th 2021 around 12:45pm driving to work I experienced something I did not realize was possible. I was in the fast lane going 70-75mph when my steering wheel began to shake profusely, I felt like something was under my car and hitting/whipping the right passenger side of my vehicle. I lost control of my car, almost flipped and thought it was a blowout, while trying to come to a stop on the highway and nowhere to pullover. 18wheelers all around me and I had no choice but to stop on left small shoulder. At this time we realized that my tire had not blown, but all the tread had separated from the tire. It had separated and this caused roughly 6feet of extreme whipping of tread while separating from the tube part of tire was beating my car in multiple areas under the car, damaged and took off half of my bumper, tore up the passenger side back and front door while causing large dents. I called a tow truck while my daughter called my husband to help us. Tow driver stated he hadn’t seen that happen and we were very lucky something catastrophic didn’t happen, myself and my daughters life was in great risk!! we almost flipped the car due to tire separation, and we could’ve caused a multi car accident! my car had to go to the collision center ( caliber collision ) which is a vendor my insurance company works with - they have taken multiple photos of the damage. I have also taken multiple photos of damage. It has not been inspected by authorities etc… yet. No warning lights representing tire pressure, concerns etc…. Were alerting me of anything to be concerned of. The interior passenger airbag light was stating airbag was off - which caused for more concern ( I am driving a 2016 Audi A3 with a national recall & no fix!! ) with if we would’ve crashed, rolled, wrecked into someone/something that the airbags would’ve potentiality not gone off to protect my daughter or myself!.

Failure Date: 04/02/2016

Since purchasing my Audi A3 on 3/26/2016 I have a flat tires in 6 days on 4/2/16. Car tires are oem and are contiprocontact 225/40 18 92h. Tire failures had happened at low speed (20-30 mph) going over a pothole. However, I have driven on these same canton ann arbor roads for 5 years and never had tire damage from a pothole before. I contacted several companies for tire replacement and all of them said that they don't have these tires in stock and these are discontinued tires. I also found these tires on clearance at sears. I decided to file a complain after I searched online and found out that other people are facing the same issue with the same brand and size. . Read more...

8 Tire problem of the 2007 Audi A3

Failure Date: 04/10/2007

(1) howl, hum chopping noise. Balance and alignment within spec per Audi dealership. (2) extremely noisy. Uneven wear across each tire. Uneven wear tire to tire. Poor wear at 10,000 mi (3) sears is the pirelli dealer in this area and is the party responsible for tire adjustments. They (ryan) state the tires are wearing poorly and unevenly. They can't get pirelli to pre-authorize the replacements. If they replace the tires because they think they're defective, and pirelli believes the tires are not defective, sears won't be reimbursed for the replacements. It's reported that pirelli is very resistant to reimbursement for tire adjustments. This leaves the sears in the awkward position of being unable to properly service pirelli tires. I've contacted pirelli customer relations and they are unwilling to extend any consideration of my claim.
