Failure Date: 06/01/2025

1) electronic emergency brake goes on repeatedly when attempting to put vehicle in gear. 2) speed control has coasted to a very low speed while on the highway several times, on its own with no vehicles in front of me. 3) numerous other “glitchy” electrical issues exist. Dealer says they are collaborating with engineers in germany. There is currently no fix. It is as if the vehicle is always cycling through various “glitches”.

3 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2017 Audi A3

Failure Date: 01/17/2022

While driving on highway 59 my vehicle began to jerk. I tried to accelerate and the vehicle would ramp but not move fast. My check engine light came on as well as the error code “transmission malfunction you continue to drive until engine is off. ” after getting out of houston, texas rush hour traffic, I had my vehicle towed to a mechanic. The mechanic ran several tests and checked the engine. Upon diagnosing the vehicle, the scan tools gave a myriad of fault code relating to electrical valve faults. All of which clear when driving the vehicle again. The mechanic informed me the transmission was not the issue but the mechatronic system had failed due to a faulty part. The mechanic said the issue could be repaired but would likely occur again as Audi as a history of faulty mechatronic systems. The mechanic called an Audi dealership who stated Audi’s mechatronic control unite has not yet resolved the root cause failure at factory level, meaning all replacements and repair kit components still have the underlying defects that will cause malfunction, usually outside the short one-year manufacturer warranty. I believe Audi manufacturer knows their cars still have a defective part hence why an extended warranty on the mechatronic system is offered. Also, Audi vehicles made in 2016 were recalled due to a defective mechatronic system. My vehicle was made in early 2017. I called the Audi dealership to make them aware of the safety and they ignored me, and tried to sell me another vehicle. This is my second safety issue with Audi vehicles, the first being an expulsion safety issue. There is no way I am purchasing another Audi.

6 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2016 Audi A3

Failure Date: 07/03/2017

I bought a cpo 2016 A3 1. 8t from Audi of palo alto on may 20, 2017 with a little under 19100 miles. Great fast car. Until June 17, 2017 when it had 19878 miles. The car started to stutter/sputter/jerk while on the fwy. I was going about 50-60mph on the fwy, cruising, and then it stuttered. It lost the power to accelerate to keep up the fwy pace and it slowed down considerably so I pulled over. I had it towed to the nearest dealer (Audi of concord). It was there from 6/17 to 6/29. Dealer said it had a faulty turbo, stating the wastegate failed, so they replaced the entire turbo. I got the car back with about 20072 miles, so apparently they did some road tests. Yesterday, July 3, 2017, while picking up some gifts for my daughter's birthday, the issue came back again. This time, my wife and 2 small children were in the car. We were cruising around 60-65 mph. It was scarier as I had to think for their safety first and foremost. Imagine a car that suddenly lost acceleration power on the freeway at around 6:30pm. We easily could have gotten rear-ended. Anyway, I researched on Audi's reliability and did read on some comments about how lousy they are. I gambled and decided to buy one anyway. Boy did I lose big. At this point, I'd rather have a kia or chevy.

7 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2009 Audi A3

Failure Date: 01/18/2017

The contact owned a 2009 Audi A3. The contact stated that while driving at 25 mph, the abs and the esc warning lights flickered. As a result, the brake pedal and accelerator pedal failed to engage and caused the contact to crash into a tree. The air bags failed to deploy. The driver sustained a mild concussion and body bruising that did not require medical attention. A police report was filed. The vehicle was towed and deemed destroyed. The manufacturer was notified of the failure and the VIN was included in NHTSA campaign number: 16v913000 (service brakes, hydraulic, electronic stability control). The failure mileage was 87,000.

8 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2015 Audi A3

Failure Date: 05/01/2015

3 issues: 1. After initial start-up, the car jumps gears and jolts forward for the first 3-5 minutes of operation, especially at lower speeds. This has been consistent since the car was purchased brand new in January 2015. 2. Also, at higher speeds (65-85mph), the car shakes noticeably - the wheels/tires have been rotated and realigned multiple times but mechanics have said it is an internal transmission issue. 3. Lastly, the tpms will come on every month and need resetting despite tire pressure being intact.

9 Vehicle Speed Control problem of the 2006 Audi A3

Failure Date: 06/01/2011

After the vehicle came to a stop at a stop sign, and I tried to get the vehicle to move again, its response was very weak as if it had lost power. Couple of times earlier, the vehicle refused to engage into reverse gear, stranding me in a parking lot for a while. On showing the dealer, the fault was in the mechtronics unit of the dsg (direct shift gearbox). Audi has recalled cars from year 2007 onwards for this issue, claiming that 2006 and before are not affected. This is not the case as it has happened with my car, which is a 2006. The symptoms and failed unit are exactly the same, with the same resolution proposed by the dealer as they would for 2007 year onward models. At the time of writing this complaint, Audi has refused responsibility and are not supporting the recall for my vehicle. I think this is serious oversight that Audi is unwilling to accept responsibility for and should be corrected by NHTSA's help. . Read more...
