Three problems related to brake electric antilock have been reported for the 1996 Audi A4. The most recently reported issues are listed below.
On numerous occasions, when driving in very wet conditions, there is a very noticeable delay before the brakes have any effect. This can be up to 2 seconds or so, and depending on driving conditions could lead to an accident. This has not happened to me yet, but I am concerned about this defect.
When the brakes are wet, they do not work until the brakes are held for about 5 seconds. A lot can happen in 5 seconds.
Brakes are much less effective during wet weather.
