The contact owns a 2002 Audi A4. The contact stated that while driving 30 mph, the vehicle suddenly accelerated which caused the vehicle to go through an intersection. The contact engaged the brakes to stop and shut the vehicle off. The contact restarted the vehicle and the rpms increased rapidly so the contact had the vehicle towed to an authorized dealer. This failure was the second occurrence. The dealer performed a diagnostic test but could not find the cause for the failure. The dealer suggested that the floor mat had become caught on the accelerator pedal but the contact stated that it had not happened. The failure mileage was 56,600. Updated 01/18/11 updated 01/31/11.
While traveling 15-20 mph vehicle suddenly accelerated. Consumer lost control of vehicle, and hit a small tree to bring vehicle to a stop. Vehicle was looked at by dealer/mechanic, but they were not able to duplicate the problem, and determined there was nothing wrong with it. Consumer was afraid that this vehicle might do the same thing again, and did not want to drive this vehicle.
Multiple cases of uncontrolled acceleration in 2002 Audi A4. 2 cases last year I had to put the car in neutral and turn off the ignition. All the others have been momentary lasting less than a second. All cases were after I accelerated, the pedal would not come back. The car has been in numerous times for this problem to the dealer who can never find anything wrong. They have documented the problem though. My last time in I discussed the possibility of using the lemon law. I finally had an accident last Friday evening pulling off from a light when the people in front of me suddenly braked and my car kept going.
