Headlights flickering. Must turn off the headlights and turn them back on for this issue to go away. All headlight components were replaced including the bulb and this issue still is there. The Audi dealerships seem to not know how to fix this issue. This issue is only on the left side/driver side. The dealer could not duplicate this issue on the right side/passenger side. All new parts were installed.

4 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 02/11/2012

I purchased the vehicle on 02/11/2012 and that very evening when I had the opportunity to use the lights, my right light began to flicker and then failed completely. This really unnerved me as I was in an area with no street lights. And didn't really know what was happening. I instinctively turned the lights off and then on again, and this made them come back on. Unfortunately, this happened numerous times that night. I feel this is a blatant safety issue especially as I had family members in my car and their well being was compromised. I have researched this problem via the internet and it appears to be rampant on Audi's and the dealerships don't either know what to do or don't want to do it as for the expense of the parts. I spoke with no less than 8 Audi dealerships around the PA northeast and no one could positively say what would be the problem. I am having the bulb replaced at my cost because I bought the car used and have no warranty. Now I know why I was able to purchase it at a good cost. Last owner was probably crazy over this. By all accounts, even replacing the bulb might not work. There are no less than 4 TSB's out on this problem. Why Audi gets away with this is a travesty and this should be remedied as soon as possible before someone gets killed.

5 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/05/2011

The left headlamp will flicker and then dip towards the ground while driving, a dashboard warning says "left headlamp dipped". The car has been to the Audi dealer several times and they are unable to replicate the issue, and tell me the fault does not generate a computer code for them to check. It has started happening on a more frequent basis, at different speeds and on different road conditions.

6 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/01/2010

Left xenon headlamp works intermittently. It started being a problem about 2 years ago, shortly after purchasing the car used. It was repaired under warranty, but the intermittent operation has returned.

7 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 09/13/2010

Dipped lower right headlamp. I have had the bulb replaced at my expense because the dealer said that would be the reason for it to flicker and go on and off. This did not remedy the situation. Looking at all of the complaints a recall needs to happen.

Left head light flickers, dipped head light warning comes on dash, light shuts off. Very dangerous while traveling dark windy roads. Turning lights off then on gets the light to work again.

10 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 01/04/2010

Randomly, and at all different speeds and road conditions, the left or right light will flicker and go out. The instrument panel will say "dipped light". The lights must be turned off then on to correct the problem. Very dangerous on dark curvy highways. So far both have not gone out together. Dealers have no idea how to fix it as there are no error codes or cannot reproduce the problem. Problem happens at least once a week, and sometimes several times in one evening.

11 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/10/2009

2005 Audi A4 quattro. "right dipped light". Right bulb goes out and I get the warning. Its been happening randomly and will not stop. Turning off the lights and back on sometimes corrects the problem for a short time.

12 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 12/26/2008

2005 Audi A4 2. 0 turbo. The head lights go out and the sensor says "dipped light", need to shut lights off and then put them back on. I have brought it to the dealer 3 times and they say they know that they have a problem on all these cars but, "do not know how to fix it". They cleaned the terminals but it did not work. There are thousands of similar complaints on the lights.

13 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 04/27/2008

Hello, I have a 2006 Audi A4 which has the xenon lights, they shut off about every time I drive my car at night and causes a huge driving distraction and the parts they say will fix it are very expensive and tend to not fix it at all, I had what they said fixed the problem only last for a month and they started to do the same thing again.

14 Exterior Lighting problem

Failure Date: 11/21/2007

I purchased this 2005 Audi A4 in August of 2007 and within the first few months of having the vehicle I was already having problems with it having to take it in and get repaired/serviced. Not only was I dissatisfied that I bought a horrible car, because it was having recurring problems, but I find out after purchasing the vehicle the dealership sold me a quattro, but my Audi is not a quattro, so I was mislead into buying a faulty vehicle. . My paperwork documentation says 2005 Audi A4 quattro 1. 8t so I had to pay to get towed out of the snow because the Audi is only 2 wheel drive. . I will never ever purchase a vw/Audi vehicle again and I always tell people don't get a vw/Audi because they are horrible unreliable cars. I have put so much money into this junk Audi that just constantly has problems, I could have bought a new car again by now . I'm very disappointed with vw/Audi. I have wasted so much money on diagnostic repair checks, because the [xxx] check engine light repeatedly keeps coming on the dashboard. I can't get my car smog approved without the check engine light being off, so I am relentlessly dumping money I simply don't have into this pos Audi.
