As I was pulling into a parking spot, traveling at a low speed I naturally applied the brakes but the car accelerated instead jumping a concrete curb and hitting a wall. In that moment I realized I had no control of the vehicle. This sudden unintended acceleration was accompanied by a loss of braking. Pressing on the brakes harder did not stop or slow the car. Brake and accelerator failed. The vehicle is available for inspection. Thankfully the car hit a wall, and there was no injury to myself or others. The parking spot is positioned in front of a concrete wall. The problem has not been confirmed by the dealer as of yet. No warning lamps, message or other signs of malfunction were evident.
Audi presense kicked in so violently on the 280e freeway towards nyc from northern NJ, that my 15 y/o son now has a significant cervical spine injury, necessitating medical evaluation and treatment. The brakes were so abruptly applied by presense that we thought we had been hit by a car, but had not been in an accident. This is very dangerous, and now my son is injured, despite no accident occurring.
On April 25, 2019 I was driving on a city street and the Audi pre sense unexpectedly activated quite violently for about 2 seconds and then turned off. While it did not stop the car completely it did reduce my speed significantly. At the time I was the only car on the road; that is, there were no other cars within sight of mine. There was no damage that I can see to the car but I trust you can understand that this could have been a much worse situation if someone had been following closely behind me. I also trust you understand that this unexpected braking is unacceptable. The Audi service advisor told me he has seen this phenomenon before but Audi has no explanation or solution to the problem.
