As of yesterday 10/18/2023, the drivers seat belt would not connect, I forced it to connect, but the dash light indicator remains on. Also, difficult to release. I'm concerned that in an accident the air bags won't deploy and worse I may be trapped in the vehicle. My mechanic told me that there were recalls on these Audi's, however I can't find any and the dealer said there is no recall and that they would charge me $200 dollars just to inspect it.

I have been experiencing something that might be related to safety recall 74e3, but I am not sure. I've been driving with my seatbelt on with no one at the passenger seat. But the seatbelt sign keeps showing up with the beeping sound, and the sign says safety system malfunction with front airbags off. . . . I called the Audi fletcher jones dealership in irvine, California, the service team told me that they don't have the part to help fix this recall and there is nothing they can do. They also would not tell me when this recall can be fixed. I called a few other dealership in orange county, California, seems none of the dealership has the parts to fix this. I have not yet encountered an accident, but felt risky driving the car now.

Two of my four kids were in the rear seat. My 7 year old panicked because her seatbelt came unbuckled and she couldn’t get it back. My initial reaction was to hit the breaks and slow down. My daughter was ejected from her seat into the passenger seat head first and then landed on the floor with her booster seat on top of her. I pulled over and checked the seat belt and it would not latch. I had to drive her home unrestrained!! a few days later, different child experienced a similar situation with the middle seat. This is a concern because if the seatbelts failed during a car accident, my children’s lives were at risk. Repeated risk of the lives of children by ignoring this common issue. How many lives will it take to be protected? minus the fear of being unable to afford repairs, or to get the vehicle in to the repair shop? as this has happened to 2/5 buckles in a matter of days, how do I know all of the buckles are not defective? why are we repeatedly waiting for the tally marks on lives lost before we protect our children? when is it worth a single life even harmed because the life saving device has failed to keep us safe? our family is so strict about seatbelt safety, how can this even be a gamble that anyone is willing to take? furthermore, how do I explain to my children that this “very important” seatbelt that I check every time they kids get into a vehicle. . How am I supposed to explain that this very important piece of equipment may or may not be there when you need it and they still must wear it?I have read hundreds of forums reporting the same failures in both Audi and vw. I have contacted Audi denver and am waiting on a quote. I am a nurse and my husband is unemployed due to the economy downturn. We are financially stretched to our absolute limits, raising children and we will not have the means to fix the failed seat belt buckles. Any safety failure like this or with airbags should be 100% under manufacturers warranty for the life of the vehicle.

I recently purchased my Audi A4 and immediately have had electrical issues. Just recently the back window will randomly roll down and last night when I started my car the safety system light and message came on. It stated see owners manual. I began to drive and the light turned off. As I drove it began to blink on and off then finally staying on and making it distracting to drive.
I slid off a wet curvy down hill road and slammed into an embankment. Went unconscious and woke with a large laceration to back of head. Saw that the passenger airbags exploded but none for driver's side. Seatbelt on driver's side tighten so tight could strangled me if I was wearing it. Have video of malfunctioning seatbelt and airbag.

Purchased the vehicle a few months ago (July of 2020). Before buying it I was told that the warning chime for the seatbelt had stopped working , so I took it to my local german auto shop to see what would needed to fix it. To my surprise, it's a part in the instrument cluster that would need to be replaced, but it's a common issue as these cars age for the warning chime to fail therefore not notifying or warning if the driver or passenger belt is buckled. Warning chime does not work whether stationary, or moving for any seat in the vehicle.

I released the driver's side seat belt pushing the red release mechanism after I parked my car and turned it off. When I returned to the vehicle I discovered the seat belt had, in fact, not retracted but had twisted itself into the holder. I was unable to free it. It would not pull out or rewind. Audi charged me the repair. When I objected stating it was a defect in the product and as it is a safety item that is required by law to be usable, the safety belt should have been warranted for the life of the vehicle. I was told Audi doesn't do that. As they did not quote me or tell me the item was not under warranty, they reduced the charge to half the amount they wanted to be paid. It should be that all seat belts are under warranty for the life of all vehicles except when it has been obviously cut off/vandalized. Years ago I had a Honda that had a seat belt issue and Honda repaired it at no charge. Thank you.

While driving with the driver's seatbelt latched, I received a warning/reminder to fasten the seatbelt. After several seconds, the chime and warning message stopped. I took the vehicle into the dealership and they replaced the seatbelt receptacle.
Sensors in driver seat failed, causing the airbag light to light, signaling to the car that the seatbelt was not latched. This was an incessant problem throughout a drive. This happened 3 times, the first two times the dealer only reset the light. This last time, they replaced the entire drivers seat.
The contact owns a 2017 Audi A4. The contact received NHTSA campaign number: 16v955000 (air bags, seat belt) however, the parts to do the repair was unavailable. The contact stated that the manufacturer exceeded a reasonable amount of time for the recall repair. The manufacturer was not notified of the issue. VIN tool confirms parts not available.
Audi has taken no action to remedy the recall on may 27, 2016 for the passenger side air bag (16v382). I have contacted both my local dealership and and Audi of America and their response was to continue to wait. I also have a seat belt locking mechanism that had it's plastic covering fall off. I asked for a warranty or good will repair, but was declined due to the age of the car.

Seat belt tension systems on both passenger and driver side fail. They lock the seat belt but do not withdraw them.

The above listed vehicle was in an accident with extensive damage to the vehicle. The airbag on the driver side didn't deploy, which caused major injuries to the forehead and other body parts. The vehicle sustained major front end damage and it is unknown why the airbag didn't deploy. There were no warning signs of airbag being defective or needed to be repaired.
I have two seat belt latches that have failed on the back seat of the car. I use the seat belts to strap my kids and other individuals in the car. It is unacceptable to have two latches fail on a car that is a 2009 model year.

Tl- the contact owns a 2007 Audi A4. The contact stated that all of the seatbelts in the vehicle over the years, deteriorated to the point that the metal piece beside the buckle was sheared off and fraying the seatbelts. The contact also stated that the drivers side seatbelt would not buckle on numerous occasions and that the front passengers side, the rear drivers side and the rear passenger side also were progressing to the point that they were not working either. The dealer stated that all of the deteriorated seatbelts needed to be replaced. The vehicle was not repaired. The manufacturer was notified of the failure. The approximate failure mileage was not available.
I was stopped at a red light when a car crashed into the back of my 1997 Audi A4. This caused my car to crash into the car in front of me and that car to crash in to the car in front of it. My driver-side air bag did not deploy and my seat belt did not lock up. The air bag on the passenger side did deploy. Because the air bag and seat belt did not work, I hit the windshield and had to go to the hospital for medical attention.
