Warnings Problems of Audi A4

The instrument cluster has failed per the recall 90vc. Audi issued the recall for every model made in 2021 with the exception of the a3 and A4 and I believe this was a mistake as my instrument cluster has the same failure.

The mmi system crashes and reboots after about 90 seconds. This affects all parking and collision sensors.

Mmi continously shuts off then back on automatically for the duration of my drives. Since it is random, it has occured while on the highway where my collision warning does not intervene because the mmi is off. It puts me and others at risk since without warning it shuts off and takes 20-30sec to come back on but only for a few mins until it happens again. I have called the Audi experience who told me to go to the dealer; others I know with the same system have done so to no resolve. I do not want to spend $ on an update that will not resolve the problem. This started on 7/14/25 and without warning, the mmi screen turns off. My fear is that it coincidentally happens at a time when it may be needed and cause a wreck or worse fatal.

While driving, including backing up with the camera, the computer restarts itself. Navigation, warnings, and backup camera all restart for about 30 seconds. It has happened while depending on the backup camera. Just goes black then restarts.

Over the last 2 weeks, the entire mmi system stops working, the screen goes black, and the system reboots. It happened once when I was backing out of a parking spot and the alerts stopped working. A second time when I was pulling into a spot and the screen went black as well. This is a major safety-related flaw!.

Mmi (infotainment system) shuts down periodically while vehicle is being driven or is idling in park. Radio, navigation, etc. , are affected. Also, the vehicles' collision warning system shuts down at the same time. Generally, the system will reboot itself within a few minutes. There is no real pattern to this issue as it may occur several times during a short trip in the car. The next day it may not happen at all. I contacted Audi dealer who stated they are not familiar with this issue and knew of no fixes.

Mmi restarting randomly while idling or running and importantly while reversing restart causing the screen blank imposing safety concerns to the driver.

The forward collision warning system (Audi presense) identified a shadow from an overpass as another car and alerted me to use the brakes. My car did figure out there was not another vehicle before performing an emergency brake. If the car had done an emergency brake I would have surly been rear ended on the highway. This is not the first time forward collision warning has activated due to a shadow on the road. I have not mentioned this to the dealer but have read of this happening to others that own Audi cars that use Audi presense. The Audi presense installed in my car utilizes the front facing camera only - there is not a forward facing radar system. There has never been a warning that that system is not functioning as intended.

I am filing a complaint concerning my recent experience with the Audi service department located in san rafael, California. On may 24, 2021 I brought my 2019 Audi A4 in for service due to an error message stating, "front parking aid: malfunction! obstacles cannot be detected". I purchased the car in December 2019 from the dealership in burlingame, California. It was previously used as a loaner car, and to my knowledge the car was in original condition with no prior bodywork done on the vehicle. When my car was inspected by the dealership in san rafael, they discovered the error message was the result of a faulty left center front parking aid where pinched wires were found from a previous bumper repair/ removal. I was told that this work required immediate attention, wasn't covered under warranty, and the total cost of repair was $784. 29. I explained to the service advisor, gene frank, that the car had never been in a collision since I owned it, and gene stated that this is a common problem with Audi cars and if he filed a claim with the company, it would be rejected. Gene argued that my car may have been hit in the front by another car on the street, and when I asked why the front of the car doesn't show damage, he explained it was due to the plastic coating on the outside of the surface. Based on the pictures taken by the service inspector and the reasoning for this damage, I argue that this damage was due to a faulty wire. The car is garage kept, has low mileage, has never been in a collision, and has never had body work performed on it. For all these reasons, I dispute the cause of this wire damage. I want Audi to take responsibility for this repair, recall this type of wiring, and refund me the total amount paid for repair.

The Audi pre-sense engaged on 3 occasions going 50+ mph bringing the car to a complete stop when there was nothing in front if it and a car right behind me. I was lucky the car behind me did not collide. If it had been a semi truck and just as close as the car trailing me, they would not have been able to stop in time causing damage or death. The problem could not be confirmed by the Audi dealer who performed a vehicle scan and found no codes and could not reproduced it. I had the pre-sense shut off. I reported this to the manufacture on 6/17/22. The pre-sense red warning triangle displayed in the instrument panel as when it was engaging.
